Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 707

Chapter 707

Valeria was clearly angling for something with her statement.

Perhaps it was because Jared was right there.

But Agnes couldn't deny it now. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.

Their stances were different.

Agnes hadn't expected Valeria to be Kearney's biggest competitor.

Agnes didn't respond.

Instead, it was Kearney who murmured, "I heard Ms. Thomas just got hitched. I presume the lucky man

is this gentleman right here?"

Kearney successfully diverted the attention away from Agnes.

Just then, more guests arrived.

Countess Alexandra, arm in arm with Count Alexandra, said, "Since you all know each other, have a

chat. We'll all have dinner together later."

With that, they left to attend to other guests.

The four of them were left in an atmosphere that suddenly quieted down.

Soft music was playing in the grand hall.

But for a moment, everything around them seemed to vanish into thin air.

Agnes' heart was pounding.

Seeing Jared under these circumstances stirred complex emotions within her.

There was a champagne tower nearby.

Valeria grabbed a few glasses from it and passed them around, saying, "To memorable moments, shall

we toast?"

Kearney and Agnes took their glasses.

Jared also took a glass, his voice icy, "We should definitely drink to that."

The four of them clinked glasses ceremoniously and each took a sip.

After finishing his drink, Kearney casually set his glass on a French-style long table nearby, "I'll leave

you to your conversation."

With that, he took Agnes by the hand and led her away.

Once they had turned their backs, Agnes seemed to let out a sigh of relief.

But she couldn't shake the feeling of being watched.

Kearney told Agnes, "You did well back there."

"Did I? I didn't think so."

"Are you still hung up on your ex-husband?"

Agnes forced a smile, "No."

"Septima, you always have that smile when you're lying. If you still have feelings for him, I'll help you

snatch him back from Valeria, how about that?"

Agnes didn't quite understand what Kearney meant.

Take him back? As if it were that easy.

Moreover, she never liked to snatch anything.

But curiosity did stir within her, "If you were to snatch him back for me, what would you do?"

A warm smile spread across Kearney's face, "That, you don't need to worry about. Just leave it to me."

Could it be that Kearney was serious?

Agnes quickly declined.

She didn't want to cause any scene.

But before she could say anything, a blonde teenager in a princess dress came rushing down the

staircase.

Several nannies were hot on her heels.

They were calling out a name, presumably the girl's, in French, which Agnes didn't understand.

The girl ran down the staircase and tripped over her long dress on the last few steps.

She was about to tumble down the stairs when Kearney, quick as a flash, rushed over and caught her.

The girl ended up almost falling into Kearney's arms.

She looked up at his face and seemed to be taken aback for a moment.

Kearney in his black trench coat, the girl in her pink princess dress.

Despite the near fall, they looked like they were in a waltz dance pose.

Agnes thought the scene looked like something out of a rom-com, where the prince and princess fall in

love at first sight.

Then again, Kearney certainly had what it took to make a woman fall for him at first glance.
