Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 731

Chapter 731

Jared grasped Agnes' hand, "Don't worry about Tim and my sister, Agnes. Once I've sorted things out,

I'll take you back home. I don't want you to suffer any more setbacks."

Jared thought back to the last time Agnes visited the Whitfield family, to the moment when Tim pointed

to the door and told Agnes to leave, and his heart ached at the memory.

Agnes knew what was on Jared's mind.

"I'll face what I need to face, Jared," Agnes said. "Take me back home. Don't worry about the rest."

Jared squeezed Agnes' hand. "New Year's Day is coming soon. Let's go back together."

Agnes nodded.

They had almost finished dealing with things in the Capital. After saying goodbye to Phenix, Agnes and

Jared returned to Willowbrook Town.

This time, it felt different from the past.

They first visited Agnes' grandmother, and Nocturne was also there. Recently, Nocturne had been

staying with his great-grandmother under the care of a dedicated nanny.

When they arrived, Nocturne was still asleep. Agnes watched him quietly from within the room.

Meanwhile, Jared was in the kitchen with Agnes' grandmother, preparing dinner.

Nocturne slept soundly. It felt like a long time since Agnes had last seen Nocturne.

She stroked his hair, marveling at how stable and mature he was for his age.

Over the years, he had never inquired about his father.

Even now, knowing that Jared was his father, Nocturne, considering her feelings, continued to call him

Mr. Jared. It was this maturity that made Agnes overlook his true feelings.

As a four-year-old, was he longing for a father? While Agnes was deep in thought, Nocturne’s

eyelashes fluttered, and he slowly opened his eyes.

"Noc, are you awake?" Agnes asked softly. All content is © N0velDrama.Org.

Nocturne rubbed his eyes and sat up slowly. "Mom, when did you get back?"

"Just now," Agnes replied.

"And when are you leaving?"

Agnes felt guilty. She had spent so little time with Nocturne recently.

"No more leaving, Noc. I'm here to stay," Agnes said, stroking his hair.

Nocturne comforted Agnes. "It's okay, mom. I'm fine on my own. I enjoyed staying with great-grandma

and digging for potatoes. It was fun."

In Manhattan, Nocturne would never have experienced such things, his daily life usually revolved

around books and electronic devices. This was a welcome change, a taste of true childhood.

"Nocturne," Agnes said, "Would you like to live with your father?"

Nocturne was taken aback. "Mom, why do you ask?"

Agnes held Nocturne's hand. "There's something I need to tell you, Noc. We're going to live with your

father, Jared. We were separated due to some misunderstandings, but we've decided to stay together.

Your father and I love you very much."

Nocturne nodded. "Mom, as long as you're happy, I'm happy."

Agnes felt a pang in her heart. Her son always put her feelings first.

"Do you like Mr. Jared, Noc? He's your father. Are you happy?"

Nocturne nodded. "I am happy, mom. I like Mr. Jared."

Even though her son seemed a bit too calm, Agnes was relieved.

"Jared is outside now," Agnes said. "Why don't you go meet him?"
