Heartstrings on Fire (Agnes and Jared)

Chapter 761

Chapter 761

Reluctantly, Agnes had to sit next to Jared.

Yolanda's eyes nearly bulged out of their sockets at the sight.

Surprisingly, Jared didn't react to Agnes' presence. Could it be that Jared still held a flame for his ex-

wife? That's what Yolanda was thinking.

Sure, he might still have some residual feelings, but that was only human nature. Things had certainly

changed between them, or else they wouldn't have ended up divorced.

Besides, Jared was notorious for his philandering ways.

He treated women like playthings, and he was possibly just messing with her.

Judging by Agnes' demeanor, she didn't seem too interested in engaging with Jared. The more

uncomfortable Agnes was, the better Yolanda felt.

Who would have thought that Agnes would have such a day?

During the dinner, the station head and two department heads kept toasting Jared.

Halfway through, Yolanda also stood up, and she approached Jared, asking "Mr. Whitfield, I was an

intern at the Tim Group. I owe much of my growth to your guidance. This toast is for you."

Jared responded in a gentlemanly manner, clinking his glass against hers, "Aaron and I are friends, so

taking care of you is the least I could do, Ms. Bowman."

Jared's casual words made Yolanda's heart sour. It seemed like Jared had long forgotten about their

past. Back then, she had a few quarrels with Agnes in the secretarial department.

Jared had publicly asked her to resign from the Human Resources Department, just because his wife

found her displeasing.

Yolanda had become the laughing stock of the entire secretarial department and the Tim Tower, and

she had never been so humiliated in her life. But now Jared had the audacity to say he took care of Text property © Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org.

her? This was his version of care?

The taste of the half-finished drink was bitter and harsh.

Even after all these years, she still held a grudge.

Now that she had a chance to interact with Jared, she was determined to get even. She wanted to

make Jared regret choosing Agnes over her. She wanted Jared to realize that Agnes was merely a

pawn under her control. Yolanda was the truly talented and charming woman.

With a smile on her face, Yolanda casually brought up the Tim Group's promotional video, "I'm grateful

for your trust in our News Department. We will give our best for the Tim Group's promotional video. I

will personally supervise the promotional script until you’re satisfied with it, Mr. Whitfield."

Jared responded with a natural smile, "Director Bowman, you are always busy. It's not necessary to

bother you with such small matters. Didn't you just say Ms. Pritchard was a talented returnee from

abroad with plenty of experience? I think she can handle the promotional script."

Yolanda was taken aback. She hadn't expected Jared to entrust the script to Agnes. For a moment,

Yolanda couldn't figure out what Jared was up to. But since Jared had already said it, she couldn't

insist on taking it on herself without seeming too eager, which would also damage her reputation.

Feigning graciousness, Yolanda said, "If Mr. Whitfield has made a choice, we should respect it."

Then she turned to Agnes, "Agnes, Mr. Whitfield holds you in high regard. You should toast him."

Agnes sighed inwardly. Yolanda already held a grudge against her, and this would only add fuel to the

fire. What on earth was Jared up to? Was he deliberately making her a target for everyone?
