Zane, Finn, Charles and now Adam. It’s a lot for me to have four guys that are in love with me. I feel like It’s left for me not to hurt their emotions at the expense of mine.

Perhaps, Adam was also trying not to jeopardize our friendship. He didn’t make any mention of the conversation we had earlier this morning, neither did I. Also, I noticed he was uncomfortable around me now.

We ate at the Cafeteria in silence while I expected Finn to show up any moment. Finn’s presence around me has a way of filling the air with excitement. I can’t just help but wonder where this new connection would eventually lead us to.

I expected Finn but Charles came to join us instead.

Phew!

“Hello everyone” Charles greeted my friends perfunctorily and as usual, he sat beside me.

Evelyn hissed, looks like she was expecting Finn to come pay for our lunch, not this jerk.

“I couldn’t make it your birthday party Adam, I am sorry. Something got into my way that very day” Charles apologised instead of wishing him a belated birthday.

Evelyn replied brusquely; “You don’t have to be sorry Charles, we didn’t even notice your absence, there were many other important people”

“Come on Evelyn, that was very rude. I invited Charles, yes I gave him an invitation card” I said.

“Whatever” Evelyn murmured and rolled her eyes.

“I can’t believe you guys went as far as distributing invitation cards for my birthday yet I never came across any” Adam interfered as he avoided direct eye contact with me.

“It’s called a surprise for a reason” Evelyn remarked. She seemed more worried about Charles who sat with us, literally intruding into our privacy. I wasn’t comfortable too neither did I enjoy Charles’ companion but I didn’t wanna chase him away by myself.

“For your information Charles, you have to take permission before joining us and just so you know, you are not welcome to this clique” Evelyn added.

“Who says I wanna join your damn clique?” Charles hissed. “I am here for Rita actually” He placed his hand over my neck and I cringed a little.

“Oh right, you said you have something to tell me, isn’t it?” I took his hands off me stylishly.

“Yeah, but it’s kinda private” He replied, smiling.

“All-right” It’s not like I cared anyways.

My face lit up when I noticed Finn approaching our table. We exchanged a non verbal communication via glances.

“Come with me” Finn uttered as soon as he arrived at where we sat.

I thought Finn was referring to me, I almost got on my feet but Adam stood up too.

“Come with me, Charles” Finn said.

“Oh mannn!” Charles groaned and grumbled, stump his feet against the floor as he stood up reluctantly and followed Finn.

Funny how the three of us heaved a sigh of relief once Charles left

Finn stopped walking (leading the way) once they got to a quiet passage way.

“I warned you to stay away from Rita, didn’t I?” Finn resumed, he put his hands into his pockets as he moved closer to Charles.

“Here we go again! Who exactly do you think you are uh? Chief commander?” Charles was ready to confront him as well.

Finn boiled in anger yet he resisted the urge not to punch him on his face.

After all he has gone through to get Rita to be his, and his alone. Now there’s one annoying jerk giving him headache.

He tried to comport himself as he spoke gently.

“Charles, let’s settle this amicably. We are grown up, we shouldn’t fight over a woman”

“Who said I wanna fight with you over a woman?”

“Ugh! Now listen, I love Rita so much” Finn confessed.

“I love Rita so much too and it’s great you have finally admitted instead of ordering me to stay away from her” Charles turned to leave but Finn pulled him back.

“You have absolutely no idea how far Rita and I have come”

“Hmmn”

“Please give up on her, you will certainly find another woman. The true love of your life” Finn kinda pleaded like a gentleman but Charles laughed out hysterically.

“N. O, No. I love Rita, you love Rita. I think we should leave it for Rita to choose. I am about to confess my feelings to her anyways, although she’s aware” Charles ridiculed him.

“Aaaargh! I put it to you Charles, that Rita will never ever date you” Finn fired, he couldn’t hold his temper anymore.

“Haha! Well, I have know Rita for sometimes before I started working with you. Don’t you wonder where I must have met her? Anyways, once I reveal myself to her, I don’t think Rita will ever reject me” Charles continued laughing hysterically and walked away majestically.

Finn stood there, pondering what Charles meant by he had met Rita before? and why Charles was so sure he would never get rejected by Rita? Was he her bethrone? Or was he her ex?
