Chapter 285
Chapter 285
When Emily recognized that he was still concerned about his son, she chose to pass over it.
She was also physically and mentally exhausted. Lying on Franklin's lap and keeping her eyes closed,
she quickly fell asleep.
After she fell asleep, Franklin finally looked down at her.
Looking at her unguarded little face, he wanted to pinch her cheek to vent his anger. But she had no
idea how anxious he was, and now she even fell asleep. When he rushed in that place and found
Andrew was naked, Franklin was dying to kill him.
But in the end, Franklin still didn't bear to pinch her cheek. Instead, he sighed and rubbed it gently.
Emily had no idea how gentle Franklin was to her. Anyway, after she woke up, Franklin had already left.
This house belonged to Aaron. When Franklin came over, Aaron tidied it up and let him live here for the
time being.
Emily took a shower after waking up. Fortunately, there were clothes suitable for her in the room.
Franklin should have prepared them for her. So she picked out a suit and put it on. As soon as she
went downstairs, she saw Lisa sitting on the sofa with a serious look, while Matthew was circling
around her like a dog.
"Miss Johnson, you're awake." Lisa quickly stood up.
Matthew greeted Emily with a smile and waved, "Auntie, do you remember me?"
Emily nodded. Matthew had not changed much in the past four years. The words "mature" and "steady"
couldn't be used to describe him at all, and he was still as unreliable as he was four years ago.
It was just that she found it particularly annoying to watch Matthew keep circling around Lisa.
"Why are you here?" Emily asked Matthew.
Matthew said quickly, "My father runs the company here. If something happens to you here, my father
and I are naturally obligated to help my little uncle. Fortunately, we found you back in time. You will
surly be blessed after surviving that."
"Can you say less?" Lisa said unhappily.
Matthew stuck out his tongue and said respectfully, "Fine, fine, fine, I'll stop talking. I listen to whatever
you say."
"If there's nothing else, you can leave first!" Lisa had something to ask Emily, so she chased Matthew
away.
Matthew immediately showed an aggrieved look and said, "Lisa, you can't just kick down the ladder.
Now you drive me away as soon as you don't need me."
"What are you talking about? When did I need you? You're the one who kept pestering me. Go away
quickly. Don't waste your time sticking around, or I'll be angry." Lisa snorted.
Matthew curled his lips and left unhappily.
He kept looking back at Lisa when leaving. Actually, it was awkward that he was unwilling to leave.
After Matthew left, Emily quickly asked Lisa with a gossipy face, "What's wrong with this Matthew? He
seems to have some interest in you."
"Stop prying into my gossip. I'm so beautiful and sexy, and he's so lecherous. Isn't it normal for him to
be interested in me?" Lisa said with a natural expression.
Emily looked at her in shock. But thinking that what she said indeed made sense, she could not refute
it.
"Where's Franklin? Do you know where he went?" Emily asked quickly.
Lisa looked at her quietly with a grim look, as if she wanted to find out something from Emily's face.
Emily didn't notice anything unusual of her because she was concerned about where Franklin was
going. Since Lisa didn't answer, she asked it again, "Do you know where Franklin went?"
"Mr. Brent has gone out. It seems that he has gone to see a person whose surname is Williams." Lisa
finally replied.
"Ah, he went to see Daniel?" Emily exclaimed.
Lisa frowned and asked, "What? You don't know that Daniel, do you?"
Emily said anxiously, "I don't know him. It's the first time I've heard his name. How could Franklin do
this? He didn't take me with him to see Daniel. I am also very anxious. How could he... Did he forget
business for being too angry?"
"Angry? You know Mr. Brent is angry?" Lisa snorted.
Emily finally realized that something was wrong with Lisa. She turned her head, looked at Lisa
doubtfully and asked, "Lisa, are you angry too?"
Lisa said coldly, "Humph, of course I'm angry. Why am I not angry?"
Emily realized that since she had left without informing anyone, Franklin must have blamed Lisa. So
she quickly apologized and said, "Lisa, I'm sorry. I had my reasons back then."
"Reasons? Miss Johnson, please, can you be a grown-up? Can you be more mature? Can you stop
being so selfish and consider others? Since you have problems to deal with, then others should just
simply take the blame for you, be anxious for you, and be exhausted because of you?" Lisa asked with
a sneer.
Emily's face froze and she looked embarrassed.
She pursed her lips and said, "I know you've been wronged by what I did this time. You're in charge of
taking care of me. But under your care, I ran away. Franklin must have blamed you. Don't worry, I'll
explain it to him when he comes back. But I really had no other choice this time. You're not a mother,
so you can't understand my pain at all. When I knew there was some news about my child, I wouldn't
be hesitated to go to a dragon's pond or a tiger's cave, not to mention just to finding Andrew."
"Your child? It was really because of your child." Lisa sneered.
"Apart from that, what other reason do you think I have to run away? It's not like how it was before."
"Well, even if you had this last resort, why didn't you tell us? If you had told us, we wouldn't have let
you fall into that kind of person's hands, nor ... nor would you have been bullied and made Mr. Brent
suffer so much." Lisa's heart ached at the thought of Franklin's grievances.
However, she didn't say it too straightforwardly. Emily thought that what she said about bullying was
simply her being molested. So she comforted Lisa and said, "It has passed. I don't even care, so why
do you?"
"You don't care?" Lisa sneered, "Oh, Miss Johnson, you're so thoughtless. I thought a woman like you
would be conservative, but I didn't expect you to be so open. You don't care. But have you thought of
Mr. Brent's feelings? How sad would Mr. Brent be to suffer his wife's being humiliated? Have you ever Content (C) Nôv/elDra/ma.Org.
thought about Mr. Brent's face, have you..."
"That's enough." Emily interrupted her angrily.
Lisa immediately shut up, but she pursed her lips tightly and glared at Emily angrily.
Emily took a deep breath and said coldly, "Lisa, I know that everything you do is for Franklin. I can
understand it, just like I could understand what you did to me for Franklin back then. But there are
some things that you can't confound right and wrong just because of your own personal preferences.
I'm a mother, and there's nothing wrong with me sacrificing myself to save my son. If Franklin really
finds it unacceptable, he can tell me directly. I can leave him, but you have no position to blame me for
him."
