42. Gross!
Evan’s POV
“So, what are we watching?” I kissed the top of her head before popping down beside her.
“You pick.” I looked at her weirdly before pulling her closer to me.
“What’s wrong?” She looked surprised at my question.
“Why will you ask that?” Her eyes flickered between the screen and my face.
“Because you never ask me to pick.” She pressed her lips in a thin line before taking the remote in hand.
“So you don’t want to? Fine. I’ll pick.” I looked at her going through the series one by one.
“That’s not the point, Brae.” She soundly sighed before looking at me.
“It’s nothing. I just-” She cut herself off, not finding the appropriate words.
“You just?” I prompted her to speak.
“I’m a little confused.” She blurted out.
“About what?”
“About this. Wedding.” She said with a small shake of her head.
“What’s confusing about that?” I asked, my gaze shifting to her fingers which were gently grazing the ring.
“Aren’t we rushing into this?” My brows quivered in response.
“No, we aren’t. We love each other. So what should we wait for?” I ended with a nervous chuckle but she didn’t look convinced. She sat up straighter, her hands pressed together in anxiousness.
“We have been away from each other for some good three years. I know we love each other but… I feel we should give ourselves more time before we.. you know-” I cut her off with a shake of my head and clasped her hands in mine.
“I feel the exact opposite. All these years we were supposed to be married. We lost enough time and I don’t want to waste more.” She blinked a few times and stared at my face. I moved closer, cupped her face and looked at her.
“I don’t want to wait for something we were supposed to have years ago.” It came out as a whisper from my lips. She was looking into my eyes, I couldn’t exactly understand searching for what. I saw her eyes getting glossy before she wrapped her arms around me.
“I love you.” She breathed out as her face remained pressed in the crook of my neck.
“I love you too.” I kissed the side of her head.

Braelyn’s POV
“Hey!” I closed the door behind Ryan before he hugged me. This was one of the many times when he dropped by because he “missed” me. The deserts I baked were never the main attraction!
“What are you starting with?” He asked once he had made himself comfortable on the couch.
“Huh?” I asked absent-mindedly.
“Wedding preparations, ring a bell?”. I playfully rolled my eyes at him.
“Oh, yeah. We’ll start with the wedding planner I guess.” Only after I said those words did I realise how stupid I sounded. He tilted his head to the side as if he would figure out the recipe of some magic potion from my face.
“Something’s bothering you.” He started and looked pretty confident about it.
“Come on, spill.”
“Nothing, I…Am I that easy to read?” I swear both of these brothers could read me like an open book.
“Really? I thought we were getting to the point.” He deadpanned, leaning back in his place.
“Evan. I think… he is getting paranoid.” His perfectly shaped eyebrows creased.
“Some details would be really nice.” He slowly moved his head from side to side, sarcastically showing how nice it would be.
“We just got back together, not to mention after a huge misunderstanding. I feel like we are rushing into this wedding.” A sigh escaped past my lips as I let out those words. He straightened up in response.
“Talk to him about how you feel.”
“I did. I told him that we should give ourselves more time before we take the step but he wasn’t ready to understand.”
“What did he say?” He asked a few seconds later.Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“He said that he doesn’t want to lose another second with me, the life that we were supposed to have all along.” At this Ryan let out a sigh of relief.
“He is just too excited.” I wasn’t convinced by the easy conclusion he had come up with.
“No. It’s not him. He always considers my choices, my wishes but that day when he was saying these words, I saw it in his eyes. He is scared to lose me again. He just wanted to convince me otherwise.” My hyper excited ass couldn’t stay still anymore. I sprung up from the couch.
“Maybe he doesn’t realise it but he is driven by his paranoia. He is getting overprotective with every passing day. He doesn’t leave me alone anywhere. Either he is with me or his bodyguard is.” While saying these, memories of all those days flooded my mind. Given him a choice, Evan wouldn’t probably let me out of his sight.
“What do you want to do?” Ryan’s eyes followed my figure as I kept pacing to and fro.
“Ryan, things between Evan and Victoria are not yet sorted out. She hasn’t yet made peace with the idea of us together and she is his mother. On top of that, if we drop the news of our wedding, it will just get uglier. And I don’t even know how to help him with his insecurity.” I stopped walking and sighed dejectedly. He too sighed before standing up.
“Come here.” I stepped in between his arms as he closed them around me.
“You’ll find a way through this. I know you will.” I nodded feeling a bit calmer than before before the relief was short-lived. I pulled away and hastily made my way towards the bathroom, suddenly finding it difficult to keep the contents in my stomach down. I crouched down in front of the toilet and emptied everything.
“No leave! It’s gross.” I said, feeling hands gathering my hair behind me. I could guess it was Ryan since he was the one present there.
“That’s what I knew vomit was.” No matter how tired I felt at that moment I couldn’t resist the urge to roll my eyes. Flashing it all away, I stood up.
“Are you fine?” His eyes swept over my face in concern.
“Yeah. I’ll be fine.” I rasped, before putting the brush in my mouth. I could feel the ache in my throat. We walked out once I was done. We had only stepped foot in the hall when I heard approaching footsteps. Evan was loosening the tie around his neck when his eyes fell on me and his perfectly shaped brows creased in concern.
“What happened? Brae?” I hadn’t had to answer when Ryan spoke up for me.
“She threw up.” Evan looked at me disapprovingly.
“What did you eat?” Yeah, no I didn’t expect it to be the reason. I had been feeling nauseous for some days now and this is the second time I had thrown up. Yep! A pregnancy test. That’s what was exactly on my mind.
“I’m fine.” I ran my hand through my hair.
“You don’t look good.” Evan looked really worried with the frown on his face. He placed the back of his hand on my forehead to check for temperature.
“Trust me. I’ll sleep it over and I’ll be good as new.” Ryan nodded at me, patted his shoulder before leaving.
“I’ll take you to the room.” Evan came and wrapped his arms around my shoulder.
“I threw up, didn’t get my ankle broken.” He just shrugged in response. Once I was in bed, he pulled the cover up to my shoulders and dimmed the light in the room.
“Get some rest. I’ll tell Ammy to make some soup for you.” I sighed, liking the comfort from the kiss on my head.
