Her Precious Baby

Chapter 265

Chapter 265

The room fell into a pin-drop silence right after Angeline spoke.

They weren't cowed by her intimidating aura but were instead shocked.

The surprise that brimmed in their eyes gradually evolved into disdain and mockery.

With a deep frown on liis face. Carl spoke in an exasperated tone.

“Are you a new manager here?”

“Mr. Lipton. I know who she is. She's a new client!”

The crisp sound of a woman's voice rang out.

It was none other than the lady with whom Angeline had a brief disagreement earlier.

With a vengeful expression, she bellowed. “She was the one who called for the meeting just now! When I asked her what it was she needed, she even criticized me for no reason at all.”

The instant the words rolled off her tongue, the conference room broke into an uproar again.

“That scared the heck out of me! Here I was, thinking that someone from management was here. It turned out to be someone insignificant.”

“Is she nuts? Why is she calling for a meeting unnecessarily?”

“Of course she is! Otherwise, why would she be wearing shades to hide her face? She must be a criminal afraid of being arrested by the police.”

Disparaging laughter began to echo throughout the room.

Even though she heard the ridicule clearly, Angeline remained silent with both arms folded across her chest.

However, the various managers couldn't care less about the chaos as they continued to fiddle with their respective phones.

Only Carl, who was annoyed by Angelinas behavior, slammed the table with his palm as he barked. “This is the office, not someplace where you can pull a prank. Get out right now, or I'll have to call security.”

Angeline let out a scoff before she unleashed a scathing retort, “I'm surprised that you didn't forget we're in the office. Let me ask you, do you still know what the company policy is?”

“S-Stop wasting time! It has nothing to do with you.”

Despite being embarrassed by the criticism, Carl was as defiant as ever.

“You don't have the right to speak to us when you don't even dare show your face!”

With a slight cock of her brow, Angeline raised her hand to the rim of her sunglasses and removed it under everyone's watchful gaze.

The moment she revealed her face, all the young staff in the room stared stupidly at her as they let out gasps of disbelief.

“Oh my God! Isn't that... Angeline Sorelie?”

“Isn't she a star? I loved her in The Journey. Why is she here all of a sudden?”

“I heard some of the old timers in the company mention that Angeline sold our products once on a livestream. Can this be a repeat of that? But didn't she retire from the entertainment industry?”

Angeline simply smiled in response to everyone’s questions.

The truth was she had appeared in the company once before during the livestream. The reason everyone was surprised was that Hanson had discreetly transferred in new staff from Yiurk Group, replacing all the old-timers.

That was why Angeline was in such a hurry to return to Forrester Group.

Any delay on her part would allow Hanson to gradually make Forrester Group his.

With an icy sneer, Angeline retrieved a stack of documents from her bag and handed them to Carl first.

“Let me introduce myself. I'm sure all of you already know me as Angeline Sorelle, but I have another role—the general manager of Forrester Group.”

Her words sent a chill down Carl's spine.

“Impossible. How can it be?” Belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.

Unable to believe his ears, Carl flipped through the documents with trembling fingers. It wasn't until he saw the transfer stamped with the company's seal that he felt as if he was woken up from a dream.

Patting him on the shoulder with a gentle chuckle, Angeline proceeded to distribute copies of the agreement to the other staff.

Given Carl's reaction, it went without saying that the lady who offended Angeline earlier was in even greater shock.

Sensing the deep trouble she was in, she couldn't help but wish for the ground to open up and swallow her whole.

Angeline, with an indifferent smile, shot a sharp gaze at her as if she was able to read the lady's mind.

“Go to the finance department and settle your outstanding salary. Today will be your last day here.”

Stunned, the panicking lady began to beg, “Ms. Sorelle, y-you can't abuse your position to exact revenge for a personal grudge!”

“I don't need someone who puts on makeup during work hours or employees who don't have any ambition at all. I'm not running a retirement home here.”

Angelinas expression turned wintry as she spoke with a scathing tone.

“What's wrong? Do you think I'm being unfair to you? Do you need me to get security to play back the surveillance feed as proof of the behavior you showed just now?”

Despite biting her lip in utter humiliation, the lady had nothing to counter Angeline with.

She was utterly helpless against Angeline's overwhelming pressure.

After walking up to her and turning around, Angeline swept her icy gaze across the room before saying sternly, “Everyone, let me first apologize for showing up at Forrester Group unannounced. I admit it wasn't appropriate to do so.”

Silence ensued during her brief pause.

“However, Forrester Group was left behind by my mother, while my grandfather transferred it to me right before liis death. That's why I'm duty-bound to run it successfrilly. From now on, lazy employees aren't welcome here!”

After losing her job and being made an example in public, the lady ran out of the conference room in tears.

While everyone else looked on sympathetically, only Angeline wore a grim expression with her hands behind her back.

Staring at her quiet staff, she asked in a frosty tone, “Does anyone of you have any questions?”

After the blatant display of power on her first day. no one dared to question her authority anymore.

In fact, all of them were relieved they hadn't gotten on her nerves.

Just as Angeline was about to end the meeting, an indignant voice suddenly rang out.

“I have some concerns!”

It was none other than Carl.

With liis eyes spitting fire, liis body was trembling from rage after being ridiculed by Angeline.

“Even if you're the new general manager, you shouldn't forget that Forrester Group is a fashion design company. It will take more than making a few movies or posing for photo shoots to actually make money.”

Glaring at Angeline, Carl didn't hide liis disdain for her.

“All of us have been sent over from Yiurk Group. Even the least qualified among us has graduated from design school and is an extremely competent professional. As for you, you're nothing but an actress.”

Carl wore a scornful expression as he tapped the pen he was holding on the table.

“Ms. Sorelle, you have never been formally trained in design, so how do you expect us to respect you? After all. it takes more than throwing your weight around to be a tme leader.”
