Her Return, His Regret

Chapter 46~ A dress

Chapter 46-A dress

Days came and went and soon,. I was the day before the launch party.

"Are you ready for tomorrow?" Jason asked Lora on the phone.

As per tradition, Jason had called Lora before her bedtime.

Lora bit her lower lip before replying, "I am kind of nervous."

"Really? I never expected you to be nervous when everyone praises your work," Jason remarked.

Lora let out a sigh and said, "It's like that with artists. We always doubt ourselves no matter how good one is... there's always that anxiousness about whether people will like our work or not. I have confidence in my work, but I can't help but be anxious about everyone's reaction to it. Of course, I know not everyone would be a fan of my work and that's understandable. We all have different tastes but that doesn't mean negative comments don't get to me."

"You're only human, my love," Jason replied. "Your skills are exceptional. You don't have to worry."

"Yes but I just can't help but be nervous," Lora murmured.

"Well, for me, I can't wait to officially meet Miss L at the launch party tomorrow..." Jason teased.

Lora laughed heartily and said, "Oh stop it... you've met me so many times already."

"I have but not in this formal set-up. I'm honoured to be your plus one," Jason remarked on the phone.

Lora smiled, feeling warm. It turned out she had made the right decision to date Jason. He was so kind to her and always showered her with love and affection. Something she had never experienced when she was married to Ryan.

Although her relationship with Jason had no intense sparks or tingles, she felt at ease because Jason didn't give her a reason to be doubtful.

The two exchanged a few more words before Lora said, "I think I need to call it a night now."

"Ok... Goodnight, Lora. I love you," Jason responded.

Lora fell silent before awkwardly saying, "Goodnight, Jay."

She couldn't bring herself to say those words back. To Lora, love was a sensitive word that should be said when one meant it from the bottom of their heart.

A few minutes after the call, Lora suddenly heard the doorbell ring. She narrowed her eyes and mused,

Who could it be at this time?'Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Sighing, she left her bedroom and went to open the door. However, there was no one outside. Confused. Lora was about to go back in when she saw the large gold box on the floor right at her doorstep.

"What is this?" Lora asked herself before picking the box up.

After making sure there was no one outside, she entered her house and opened the box to see what was inside.

A gasp left Lora's lips when she saw the dazzling sapphire blue evening gown in the box. It was accompanied by a pair of embellished heels, a pair of sapphire blue diamond earrings and a necklace. where the dress came from but she found Lora looked through the box to search for a note or a name 9 none.

"Could this be a surprise from Jason?" Lora thought.

He did call her to talk about the launch party. Perhaps he dropped the box at her door while they were talking on the phone.

A smile crossed her lips as she took out the gown and held it against her body. She thought it suited her and she loved it, knowing she would look like a goddess in the elegant, stunning dress.

"I didn't know Jason knew my taste so well," Lore

remarked as she admired the dress.

"Mommy, did someone come?" Ella's voice echoed through the door as it opened and the twins entered the room.

"Ella, Ethan, why are you still awake?" Lora asked, her eyebrows creasing.

"We heard the doorbell, Mommy," Ethan replied.

Ella saw the dress in Lora's hands and her eyes widened dramatically. Her jaw dropped to the floor as she stared at the dress in awe.

"Wow! Mommy, that dress is so pretty! Are you going to wear it to the party tomorrow?" Ella asked excitedly.

Lora smiled and nodded, "Yes, I'll wear it tomorrow."

"You're going to look so beautiful, Mommy. Right, Ethan?" Ella remarked.

"Yes, she's the most beautiful mother in the world," Ethan stated and Lora's eyes watered with tears.

Her children always melted her heart. They were so adorable.

"Can I come to the party too?" Ella requested. "I also want to wear a pretty dress like you, Mommy."

Lora glanced at her kids and thought to herself. 'Although I am capable of protecting them, I don't think I should expose them so soon.*

She stroked Ella's hair before saying softly, "No, sweetheart. I can't take you with me... but I'll ask Nanny Nova to let you watch the live stream."

Ella pouted for a moment. A few seconds later, she nodded and replied, "OK, Mommy. I'll watch you on

TV."

Lora smiled. She loved how obedient her children were. Putting the dress away, she placed kisses on their foreheads before saying, "I'll take you to lots of parties in the future, ok?" When the children nodded, Lora said, "Now, go back to bed you two, I'll make you your favorite pancakes in the morning."

"Yay! Goodnight, Mommy!"

Left alone, Lora looked at the dress and a smile crossed her lips. This was the first time someone was doing something special for her... It felt good.

At the same time, Ryan watched the lights from Lora's apartment go off and a small smile crossed his lips.

'She's accepted the dress,' he mused, a surge of satisfaction rushing through him.

Giving Lora's apartment one last glance, he got into his car and drove away, thinking about how Lora would look in the dress he had chosen specifically for her...
