Her, To Home

Chapter 36

There were a sharp pain zapping through her skull which almost made her gasp out loud. She slowly opened her eyes and blinked several times to clear her blurry vision. The pain in her head was slowly fading as well as she got a better view of where she was.

She was laying on hard, cold ground. The chill from somewhere was seeping through her clothes and sending a shiver down her spine. Her limbs were tightly bounded, enough for her to doubt the flow of blood in her veins. She shuddered and slowly turned her head around to see her surroundings. It wasn’t dark but it wasn’t bright either. It was just enough for her to be able to make out the shapes of everything around. She was in a room, probably a bedroom because she could see the build in closet and windows which had been closed. The glass was covered with black paint. She tried to rise her head but her head was too heavy so she stayed where she was, slowly collecting her thoughts, slowly trying to adjust the reality she wished wasn’t real.

She didn’t want to believe it but the sinking feeling in her gut was making her so afraid. Afraid of the situation she was in and afraid of what she thought to be true. She couldn’t wrap her head around it. She couldn’t believe that June was every capable of hurting her.

Not June. Anybody but her. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.

She wanted to desperately believe that maybe just maybe June wasn’t part of it. She had only been scared; she had only been confused which was why she didn’t react to what happened to her. There was no way June could ever do something like this to her. Not the June who had laughed with her from last 4 and half years.

Not the June who had held her when she lost Dean.

Not the June who had hand fed her food when she was losing the will to live

Not the June who had dragged her towards life when she was on her weakest.

It can’t be her June.

Her June could be blunt, could be harsh but that was it.

That was it.

She blinked away the tears which was begging to slide down her cheek. She didn’t want to cry, not yet. But she already shaking, from fear, from sadness and from cold.

She didn’t lay in her misery for long, she knew she didn’t have time. She didn’t want to think that June was behind all this so instead of accepting the obvious, she made herself believe that she didn’t know June, didn’t know anything about the person who had looked at her so coldly while someone took her away. So, she started thinking why would someone do that? She didn’t hold a grudge against Sara, because Sara simply didn’t remember doing anything to ever hurt June.

She had met June in History class in 8th grade. June had been the first one to approach her and despite her emo looks and clothes, she wasn’t completely towards the who whole emo style. They became friends slowly because Sara wasn’t used to getting along with people. Her life and friends have revolved around Dean but they had become good friends in few months to the point where they were having sleepovers at each other place. She remembered Dean’s growing annoyance with June, remembered how quickly she had won over her mother. Though her brother didn’t exactly get along with June, he hadn’t ever been involved enough in her to ever do something which would hurt June.

So what? What had Sara ever done to June Parker?

Somewhere in the back of her mind, his name was being whispered. Like a soft, crawling drawl, Dean’s name was running through her mind but even if she heard his name, her mind wasn’t able to link June and Dean together. Dean had clearly mentioned that they were too old to ever mess around with girls that young. Though 8th grade wasn’t small but for a senior high school student, it was still a kid. Dean had only ever seen her beside her. He has clearly said he had never met June before, never even talked to her so how?

And why?

Her headache slowly settled and a new worry begin to burden her mind.

Dean was probably looking for her.

No, Dean was looking for her.

She quickly tried to rise up. Not wanting Dean to reach her, she had to find a way to escape. Though another sharp pain bolted to her head, she ignored it and tried to look around to find something she could use to cut the rope. She moved her body around in a desperate attempt but the sound of footsteps paused her. She quickly debated on whether she should pretend to be unconscious or not but the sudden anger inside her chest refused the reason of debate. She wanted to know why she was held, she wanted to know why June did this to her.

The door was unlocked and then slowly opened. The hallway was lit so the room immediately brightened which made her surrounding clear. She saw June enter the room slowly. The same eyes which used to held laughter for her but cold and distant as they stared at her.

Sara had wanted to shout at her, demand what was going on or have she lost her mind but couldn’t say a word from her mouth. Surprisingly, the fear she had was gone as she looked June but she was feeling so numb all over that it was hard to understand what she really felt.

June sat down on the floor a few feet away from her. Her eyes staring at her like waiting for her to ask questions, waiting for her to say something but Sara didn’t want to satisfy June. Didn’t wanted to give her even a little bit of satisfaction.

“You won’t ask me anything?” June softly asked, tilting her head to one side.

“Have you left anything for me to ask?” Sara questioned.

June laughed; it was a hollow, dark laugh but yet Sara couldn’t find herself to be afraid of her.

“I am here to get that right you gave me.” June explained.

Sara raised her eyebrows in confusion. Right? What right? Was it all about Dean after all? But how?

She didn’t need to ask because June answered her herself, “You promised that I had full right if he hurt you.”

It was Sara’s turned to laugh so she did and simply said, “Dean haven’t hurt me.”

June leaned forward and grinned. It was a twisted, slow grin which should raise alarms inside Sara’s head but yet Sara couldn’t be afraid. She was finding herself to pity June.

“Oh but he had already hurt you, you just didn’t know how badly yet.” June drawled out and Sara was further confused but she was also starting to get annoyed.

“I am sure you didn’t abduct me to take vengeance for the pain Dean has caused me or will cause me according to you. If only you were actually this kind.” Sara mocked her, the numbing from earlier was slowly fading. The anger inside her was rising.

The grin from June’s face disappeared and she spit out, “You think I am joking? You think this is all a joke?”

“No, I would never treat such a thing as a joke.” Sara replied honestly. If this was a joke then Sara defiantly didn’t find it funny.

June’s anger escaped and she simply stared at Sara like she was confused but about what? Sara didn’t care nor did she wanted to so she waited for June to say something and she did.

“I didn’t want to get you involved, if only you would have listened to me…”

Sara frowned. So, the grudge against Dean was even deeper than her involvement but what? How did June get involved with Dean?

“I warned you he is not a good guy; he is not worth it. I warned you about him! I didn’t want to hurt you but you refuse to listen. I had actually grown a little fond of you.”

Sara smiled and asked, “You say you never wanted to involve me but yet you approached me to get to Dean? Are you sure you know what you are doing?”

Surprisingly there wasn’t any anger in her words. The betrayal she though she felt but long gone. But then again, in front of Dean nobody mattered. So, what if she June? Her bound with Dean was different then everything else. Dean was her being, a part of her soul. If for that soul, she had to rip away another part of her outer skin, she would gladly do it without any regret.

If June’s intentions were always to hurt Dean then she was mistaken to think that her words would affect Sara. There was no difference to her if someone wanted to hurt Dean or her. Dean was hers, there was no way she would ever forgive anyone forever even thinking about hurting him. Even if she had owned June for a lot of things in her life, it could never amount to what Dean meant to her so she really didn’t want to hear how June had actually tried to show her kindness by showing her an escape route.

Why would Sara even take a road which didn’t lead to Dean?

How foolish.

“I just wanted to get to know you but I soon find out that you didn’t actually know anything about Dean either. You were as innocent about his crimes as everybody else.”

“Crimes? I hardly think you are in any position to judge someone else in that matter.”

June once again laughed and leaned even closer, almost a breath away from Sara’s face and whispered, “But my dear, Dean’s crime are much worse than mine. He had done something so unforgiving that it is hard to let go of what he has done. Did you know, Dean have killed before?”

To Sara’s blank look, June laughed bitterly and spit out, “I see, it seems if it’s you, you might even forgive his other crimes as well. I didn’t know you to be so cold towards human life, Sara.”

“Yeah, today we are just finding new things about each other.” Sara smiled an empty smile at June.

Once again, anger flashed in June’s eyes as she leaned back and demanded, “You are still in mood of joking?”

“I am in no mood for jokes, June. And trust me, if your intentions are to hurt Dean, joke is the last thing on my mind.” Sara warned her softly.

“You are still defending him? I wonder if you are heartless enough to defend him when you know that he pushed an innocent girl to insanity?”

Sara didn’t jump to conclusion but simply waited. She trusted Dean with her whole being. There was no way something this big would have been hidden from her but it seemed like June was in a mood to play games with her but Sara didn’t want to play this sick game of guessing. If June thought that her sick mind games would make her doubt Dean then she was in for a surprise. Sara was done waiting.

“If Dean pushed her to insanity then she wasn’t innocent.”

She expected the slap but it wasn’t like it didn’t surprise her. It was hard, sharp but she let June do what she wanted. If this made her talk then Sara was ready to take anything.

“Don’t you dare say a word against my sister!” June shouted and Sara looked at her in surprise.

Sister? What sister?

“That monster ruined her life! That monster ruined my sister! My sister was stripped away from sanity, my parents were pushed into living a miserable life. My whole family was ruined by him.”

Sara didn’t want to say anything. The first thought in her mind had been that it was impossible. Dean didn’t know June’s family so ruining her sister sounded more than impossible.

June noticed her blank eyes and got more furious as she grabbed her shirt and gave her a shake, her wild eyes just looked crazed as she glared at Sara like she would split her open anytime now. Grabbing her tightly she shouted, “You still don’t believe me!”

Sara didn’t even have to think as she said, “No.”

June suddenly pushed her back harshly and stood up. Her glaring eyes met hers till she smiled and said, “Not even if I told you Dean slept with my sister and made her pregnant? Not even if I tell you he refused to acknowledge her and threw her away like a rag doll?”

Sara didn’t even flinch as she stared directly at those unknown angry eyes but smiled and said, “No.”
