Chapter 61: The counsellor’s question
Chapter 61: The counsellor’s question
“Alpha Dominic, what’s the point of calling this meeting after how you insulted us last time?” One of the seniors asked with a frown.
His tone was cold and mean, anything near mature which irked Athena. But she kept quiet to continue her game of being invisible which she was playing well. Just the constant glare from Stacey across the room was getting on her nerves. They both were sitting opposite each other while Dominic sat at one of the ends of the table while the most senior sat on the other end.
The meeting just started but they entered the room around twenty minutes ago. The seniors were having their own conversation till now.
Athena looked up at Dominic to see what he would say now and found him having a big deep frown on his face. As if feeling her eyes on him, he looked at her way. The moment their eyes met, the frown left his face and it was replaced with a soft look. She could swear she saw the corner of his lips lifting up as well but it was gone faster than it appeared.
She didn’t know what suddenly came up on her and she nodded her head a little toward him. It was supposed to be an encouraging nod and he looked surprised seeing that but it seemed to do the work. He suddenly looked as if he had everything under control again. He looked at the front with confidence.
“Gentlemen, first of all I would like to apologise if you felt offended by what happened a few days ago, in the party. I had my reasons and I have called you all to gather here to inform you about the reason only.” Dominic stated in his usual cold and intimidating tone while making eye contact with everyone in the room.
“What is the reason and what’s going to happen to Stacey now? What you did not only insulted her and her pack, hurt her badly as well. Do you realise that, Alpha Dominic?” Another one asked with a scowl while giving a small look at Stacey. Stacey gave him a small smirk. The interaction didn’t go past
Athena’s sharp eyes. She immediately knew why the man was talking like a puppet because he was a puppet in actuality. Of Stacey. Nôvel/Dr(a)ma.Org - Content owner.
Was Stacey that powerful to make a senior follow her words? She has always heard that she was an alpha’s daughter from a powerful pack. Not as powerful as Dominic’s pack but still powerful enough to hold some serious authority. But Athena never heard the name of her pack. At that moment, the curiosity increased to another level as she looked at her with a frown.
“I believe that was an alliance between me and her father’s pack where we didn’t include anyone else. So, when the alliance is broken from both parties, I don’t want anyone to get involved in this as well. Just to let you know, I have offered them peace. If they agree by the terms and conditions, it will still bring good to them if not to my pack. But they know better than going against me. Isn’t that right, Stacey?” Dominic asked with a raised eyebrow while looking at Stacey who had a smirk until then on her lips, looked at him with a small sad look She put on an innocent and helpless face as she looked at the counsellors, trying to act strong.
“Respected counsel members, I would request you all to not mention the topic again. It’s indeed hurtful for me as I almost considered this pack as my own family. But I don‘t want to blame Dominic for what happened. He treated me the best while I stayed here, with respect and love. He must have his reasons to take this decision. But I just hope the reasons are not something wrong which he would regret in future.” Stacey said the last sentence while looking at Athena with a venomous look on her face.
Athena glared at her in anger and frustration. She couldn’t express what she felt at that moment toward that woman!
“Such a mature woman you are!” One of them praised before settling his eyes back on Dominic. “So, Alpha Dominic, what is the reason for which you have declined to accept Stacey as your mate?” He asked in a blank yet distant tone. Dominic looked at Athena and found her looking at Stacey with a
glare. “One of the most important reasons to take that step was my mate. Everyone knows I didn’t find my destined mate at that time when I announced to take Stacey as my mate. But I don’t find that reason valid anymore after I found MY mate. So, I don’t see a reason to go with that thing anymore.” He said in a casual yet serious tone. Everyone looked at him in shock as soon as they heard her. They immediately started to murmur things among them. Everyone heard everything due to their werewolf hearing sense. Dominic gave them time to settle down as well as gave time to Athena to prepare herself as well.
“Who’s your mate? Is she present in the room at this moment?” The oldest and experienced one asked with a frown while looking around and his eyes fell on Athena, a new face.
Immediately a look of realisation settled on his face as he looked at Athena. Soon that look was replaced with another expression, an expression of pure shock and disbelief.
“Who are you?” He asked in a shock filled tone, taking everyone’s attention toward her in a blink of an eye.
She was shocked as well, feeling everyone’s eyes on her. A nerve-wracking feeling settled inside her as she looked at Dominic in panic. He was taken back a little as well hearing the tone the man used. It was as if he knew Athena from long and whatever he knew was something that will change a lot of things. “My mate. She is my mate.” Dominic announced and the man looked shocker than ever hearing him.
“Which pack are you from? Who’s your father?” The man asked in a desperate tone, confusing everyone.
But Athena went blank after hearing the question.
Her pack? Her father?
