Chapter 453
S31 196. Special Gift
Before Barbara had time to speak, Emily raised her index finger like a student wanting to ask permission from the teacher. NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
“Auntie, can you give me a little sister? I promise I won’t cry if it turns. out your child is also a boy. But, can you try? Maybe there are rules to planting baby sisters. How deep should they be put or how much should they be watered? Like Grandma Susan planting plants in the greenhouse.”
Everyone laughed amusedly at Emily’s request. Barbara was at a loss. for words. Her cheeks flushed red with embarrassment.
“Little Bee,” Kara stroked Emily’s cheek, “we can’t arrange it like that.
It’s fate from God.”
“Can’t it be done?” Emily shook her head slightly.
“No, Love.”
Before the little girl’s shoulders slumped again, Barbara placed a hand on the side of her mouth. “Shhh, Emily…. Actually, I also hope that my child is a girl. How about we pray together? Who knows, God will grant it. But if it doesn’t come true, don’t be disappointed.”
Emily’s eyes lit up with hope. “Yeah! I won’t be disappointed, Auntie. Let’s pray together later.”
“Okay.” Barbara gave her thumbs up. Emily responded with her tiny thumb.
“So, is it true that Auntie is pregnant? That’s what you want to announce, right?” Louis blinked at Philip.
Philip smiled faintly. Putting an arm around his wife’s waist, he nodded. “Yes, Barbara just had a test pack this morning. The results
were positive.”
Melanie widened her eyes. She brought her seat forward so that her body almost touched the table. “My daughter is really pregnant?
Soon, she will also give me a grandchild?”
Barbara nodded slightly. “Yes, Mom. Soon, there will be another
person who calls you Grandma and calls me Mommy.”
Melanie got up from her chair. She circled halfway around the table, stopping at Barbara’s side, hugging her. “Congratulations, My Daughter. You will finally become a mother. Be healthy, okay?”
Barbara patted Melanie’s arm with her eyes closed. “Thank you, Mom. Later, please teach me how to be a mother.”
“You don’t need to learn, Darling. You’ll understand it yourself instinctively.” Melanie patted her cheek.
Barbara frowned with pursed lips. “I can’t possibly take care of a baby without learning, Mom. I don’t even know how to hold it.”
“You’ll get used to it. You just need to practice,” Melanie still insisted on refusing to teach.
“How about I buy a baby doll for Auntie? Auntie can practice with it.” Emily nodded reassuringly.
“And I can buy pacifiers and other supplies.” Louis raised a hand next to his head. “Auntie can practice as much as she likes.”
Barbara laughed faintly. “You’re very kind, Emily, Louis. But no. I’ll just borrow Russell to practice.”
“No!” The twins looked displeased. Everyone laughed seeing their
response.
“So, what are your plans next? Do you intend to hold a gender reveal too?” Frank inquired casually.
Philip and Barbara exchanged glances. While holding hands, they
smiled.
“We plan to announce it at Louis and Emily’s birthday party.”
“Our birthday party? Why? Auntie should be holding her own event,” Louis said, scratching his temple.
“Louis is right. It was a special moment for Aunt and Uncle Philip. It won’t be special because it coincides with our birthday.”
The curve of Barbara’s lips became even more mysterious. “In fact, it would actually be very special. Just think of the gender reveal as a beautiful gift from us to you. If our child was a girl, Emily would be happy, right?”
Emily quickly nodded. “Yes! I would be very grateful if Auntie’s child was a girl. She could accompany me to play later. But if it was a boy, I would still be happy. I won’t cry anymore,” she nodded firmly.
“If our child is a boy, consider it a bonus for Louis. You were hoping. for a little brother, right?”
Louis’ cheeks puffed up. His lips pursed. “I already have Russell and Orion, Auntie. So, I hope that your child is a girl. That way, Emily won’t
be alone.”
Everyone was amazed by Louis’ wise answer. The boy seemed so caring and understanding. Even Emily gave him a small smile.
“Thank you, Louis.”
“You’re welcome, Emily. Later, may I join you and Aunt in prayer?”
Emily nodded firmly. “Of course you can.”
Still with a sweet smile, Louis turned back to Barbara and Philip. “But if your child is a boy, I will still be happy. My troops will increase. We can strengthen the fortifications later.”
The young couple laughed excitedly. “So, you guys agree that it could be a gift for your birthday?”
The twins nodded cheerfully.
“Yeah, I can’t wait to have my birthday soon. I hope two months isn’t too long.”
“Two months can seem short if we fill it with a busy schedule, Louis. How about we join Auntie in learning to care for baby? We also have to practice so that later we can help Mommy take care of Russell properly.”
Louis nodded enthusiastically. “Good idea, Emily. Let’s practice being good big brother and sister.”
With so many activities, two months passed in a flash for the twins. On their birthday, they were the busiest people there.
“Welcome, Sir. Welcome, Madam.”
“Please enjoy the dishes.”
“Thank you for your presence. We are happy that you are willing to attend our birthday party.”
The twins constantly welcomed guests and received gifts. At first glance, they looked like adults in toddler form. Their childish natur only emerged when Philip and Barbara arrived.
“Louis, look! Aunt and Uncle are coming!”
Laughing, they ran towards Philip and Barbara.
“Auntie, Auntie! Why are you here late? We’ve been waiting for you all
this time?”
Barbara chuckled while stroking their backs. “We’re looking for gifts earlier. It turns out the roads are a bit congested tonight.”
“You should have prepared the gifts yesterday, Auntie. So today, you just have to come to our event.”
Excited, Barbara pinched Louis’ cheek. “Okay, Mr. Grumpy. Forgive us. Now, may we wish you a happy birthday?”
“Yeah!”
Philip and Barbara took turns hugging the twins.
“Happy birthday, Twins. Finally, you are five years old. You must be happy, hmm?”
“Yes! We’re getting bigger. Soon, we’ll be adults.” Louis adjusted the bow tie around his neck. His style made Philip and Barbara laugh with
amusement.
“There are still a few years for you to grow into adults, Louis.”
“Yeah, I know. But at least, we’re a year closer.”
After conveying prayers and hopes, Philip handed Louis and Emily a gift. The two toddlers received it with happy smiles.
“Thank you, Uncle, Aunt.”
Barbara smiled faintly. “Aren’t you curious what’s inside? Why don’t you open it now?”
The twins’ eyes widened. “Is it okay?”
“Yes, open it. I want to know whether you like our choice or not. That can be a reference for future gifts.”
With sparkling eyes, the twins began to tear the gift wrapping. When the box was successfully opened, they were stunned.
