This was her first time facing such a scenario since she had returned to her family.

"Ivy, come here," Layla said.

"Okay." Ivy set her bag aside and walked over to Layla obediently.

"I will tell her!" Elliot did not want Ivy to misunderstand the situation and wanted to explain everything in his own words in the hopes that that would stop Ivy from bursting out crying like Robert did. Elliot felt extremely guilty for causing his children pain.

"All right! Go on, then," Layla said coldly.

Ivy took note of Layla's tone and realized that Elliot had done something wrong.

"Ivy, someone delivered a baby here today claiming that it's my baby. I can swear that I've not seen another woman apart from your mother, so that baby can't be mine," Elliot said.

Ivy was shaken by all the information and did not know what to do for a moment.

Elliot sounded sincere, but she did not know what the truth was.

As the youngest child in the family, she could not make any decisions and needed to see how Avery and her other siblings reacted.

"We can run a paternity test, right?" Ivy whispered.

"I've already gotten someone to collect our blood samples. The results will be out in three days," Elliot said. "Before the results get out, I want you all to go easy on me. If the results prove that I'm not related to the baby, how are you going to make up for the pain you have caused or will cause me?"

Elliot was in shock, more so than he had ever been in the past decade.

Ivy thought that what Elliot said was reasonable and nodded.

"Ivy, you are too soft. One look at the baby, and you will know that that

baby is related to us." Layla could not stop herself from looking at the baby, and, with each look, she became more certain that the baby was related to her.

"Oh... The baby is here?" Ivy asked in disbelief.

"I will take you to him." Layla stood from the couch and took Ivy to the first floor.

Once they entered the guest room, they saw the baby sucking on a milk bottle.

"He is so tiny!" Ivy was stunned. "How old is he?"

Layla shook her head. "Mom said that he has been born recently."

"Who's the mother? A baby has to have a mother, right?" Ivy walked over to study the baby. However, the baby was suckling on the bottle, and it was hard to see his face.

"I don't know. It doesn't matter who the mother is The most important thing is who the father is." Layla's head had been hurting the entire day. "Ivy if our parents get divorced, who will you live with? By the way, Dad has already signed a separation agreement that states he will leave without a penny to his name if they get divorced."

"If the baby is Dad's, then he has betrayed us all and cannot be forgiven. I am definitely going to be on Mom's side."

Layla nodded. "I wanted him to come clean, but he just keeps denying that the baby is his. Right now, we can only wait for the results," she said in resignation.

"Let's wait for the results! Layla,

don't be too pessimistic. Dad doesn't strike me as the type of person who would lie. He is perfectly capable of covering his tracks he

nts to cheat." Ivy did not want to think of the worst scenario.

"You are right, but, sometimes, things don't necessarily fall within our logical understanding. Think about the news about those two successful entrepreneurs who fought on the street. Isn't that quite ridiculous as well?"

Ivy nodded.

"He is done with his milk." Layla glanced at the baby and signaled Ivy to look at him.

Ivy turned her gaze to the baby and found him looking back at her.
