Chapter 2978
Eliam was an intelligent person.
After hearing what Hayden said, he immediately understood that Hayden saw Shelly differently. However, from his perspective, Shelly was undoubtedly not a match for Hayden.
Hayden likely felt the same and intended to test Shelly; it remained to be seen whether Shelly could withstand the test.
It was half-past six in the evening, and Shelly was getting ready to leave work.
With the addition of a few more employees in the shop, she no longer had to stay late at night.
As she stepped out of the shop, a man immediately intercepted her path. Despite his somewhat brusque demeanor, his face carried a gentle and friendly smile.
"Shelly, do you remember me? I came to your shop last time to buy cakes, and we chatted for a bit," the man who spoke was Fergus Bailey, an employee from the Administration Department of the Dream Maker. This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
Shelly immediately smiled and replied, "Of course, I remember you! We're from the same town! It's my first time meeting someone from our town here in this city!"
Fergus responded. "Same here! Last time, you seemed so busy that I didn't have the courage to ask for your contact. Shall we exchange numbers? When we go back to our hometown, we can go together!" Shelly did not hesitate and immediately took out her phone to take down his number.
"Do you have a boyfriend, Shelly? I heard you don't. I'm not sure if the information is accurate." Fergus blushed and asked afterward.
"Who told you that? I'm not familiar with people from your company!" Shelly was only slightly acquainted with Hayden, but he would not be discussing her personal matters with his employees.
"I asked one of your shop assistants. I hope you don't mind me asking about your personal life."
Fergus's sincere smile made Shelly
shake her head. "It's not a big deal. I'm not that petty," Shelly replied. "Have you eaten? You're not here to buy cakes, are you? Although I hope to increase sales in the shop, don't really recommend having cakes as a meal."
"I actually came specifically to find you," Fergus said. "Shelly, can I treat you to a meal? I feel like we have a real connection. In our small town, many people don't get to go to college, so it's truly rare for us to meet here."
Shelly agreed. "Let me call my mom and let her know."
"Why don't you call your mom and invite her to join us? Maybe your mom knows mine!" Fergus enthusiastically suggested. "I'll treat you. I know a restaurant with delicious food."
Shelly would have definitely invited her mother to join them if her mother did not need to take care of Audrey.
People who come from the same small town tended to feel closer together.
"That's not necessary. Let's just the two of us go," Shelly said, turning around to dial her mom's number.
After informing her mom about
having a meal with a friend from
their hometown, her mom
curiously
asked about Fergus's name. As Fergus had mentioned, in their small town with a small population, it's possible that the older generation might actually know each other.
"Fergus, my mom wants to know your parents' names," Shelly asked.
Fergus walked beside Shelly and loudly stated his parents' names for her to relay over the phone.
