Chapter 3006
When Shelly arrived home, she spotted Hayden's car outside her building, but Hayden was nowhere to be seen.
"Has he already gone inside?" she thought as she rushed inside.
She stepped out of the elevator and spotted Hayden's shoes outside her apartment door.
The door was wide open, but there was no sound coming from within.
Shelly had not expected Hayden to arrive before she did and realized that Hayden was here to see Audrey.
She darted toward the door and changed into her slippers.
Mrs. Taylor immediately walked up to Shelly and said, "You two talk. I'll go buy groceries.'
"
Mrs. Taylor had already said everything that needed to be said to Hayden, but it did not have much effect. In the end, it was up to her daughter and Hayden to have a private conversation.
After Shelly acknowledged her mother's words, she entered the house.
Hayden stood in the living room, holding Audrey in his arms.
At her age, Audrey was not shy around strangers and liked anyone who held her.
Shelly gazed upon Hayden as he held Audrey in his arms. Warmth spread through her when she realized that Hayden genuinely cared for their daughter.
"Shelly, were you planning to keep Audrey a secret from me forever if I hadn't discovered her myself?" Hayden asked.
Shutting the door behind her, Shelly walked up to him and said, "Let me ask you this: if I told your family that I had given birth to twins, would your family have taken both children in? After all, I don't have much money, and I'm sure you wouldn't want the children to suffer with me." Helplessly, Shelly sat down on the sofa. "Though I'm poor, I also wanted to have a child by my side. If you were in my shoes, would you have a better solution?"
Hayden understood her feelings but was still upset about being deceived. "I know that I have a daughter now, but have I taken her away?" Hayden countered.
"But I didn't even know what kind of person you were. I didn't dare take the risk," Shelly explained.
"We've known each other long enough, but the thought of telling me about her has not ever crossed your mind, has it?" Hayden continued.
"In that case, I apologize. I'm sorry. Can you not take Audrey away? I've been with her for half a year, and we've formed a deep bond," Shelly pleaded.
"She's also my daughter, and I care for her, too," Hayden said.
"But your family already has a child," she argued.
"Audrey is also my child. Why do you insist that I give up my child, Shelly? Why do you have to make me choose between two children?" Hayden's frustration grew. Shelly lowered her head, unsure of how to answer him.
"Then tell me, what should we do?" Shelly had already made her request, and as long as he did not take Audrey from her, everything else was negotiable. "Why didn't you tell me when you were pregnant?" Hayden thought that separating the twins was a cruel thing to do.
"We weren't familiar with each other
at all. Besides you were abroad. Did you expect me to go and tell your family? That would have been so awkward," Shelly explained. "Initially, I planned to raise the child by myself. I had no idea I would have twins. It's a bit overwhelming to raise two children alone."
Hayden listened to her words and grew angry again. "So, you are saying that if you only had one child, you would have kept it a secret from me forever? You planned to keep my child all to yourself?"
"This was an unexpected situation for both of us. If I hadn't told you, your life wouldn't have been affected at all. I didn't want to have an abortion, and I didn't want to use the child as a means to force you into taking responsibility for me and the chile." Shelly expressed her thoughts. "Hayden, please don't be angry. Audrey has been staring at you this whole time. She can sense your anger, and it scares her."NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
Shelly's words had a miraculous effect.
Hayden's furrowed brows instantly relaxed as he lowered his gaze to Audrey and whispered, "Don't be afraid, sweetheart. I'm not fighting with your mom. We are just negotiating."
