CHAPTER THIRTY SIX
I get up in shock. Dream, everything is just a dream. I thought it was true that everything happened. I stood up and walked and looked around. I walked over to find out where I was.
But —-
Wait, how am I standing, and where am I?
I roamed my eyes at the surroundings where I was standing. I’m not in the hospital and I’m not in the condo. I am here on the mountain and at the bottom, there is a sea with a bridge-like letter T. What am I doing here and what is this place? Then how did I get here?
I went down the mountain and was immediately in the middle of the T Bridge. I walked to the very center and looked to both sides. To the right is towards a flat area and there are people having fun but water is at the bottom. While on the left the bridge goes down to the water. What is here and what is it? I am still wondering how I got here.
“Jace!” I looked up to the one who call me from the right bridge. A man waves his hand in the air and he has two elders next to him. I tried to trace them until I recognized them.
“Daddy?”
“Jace here son!”
“Grandfather, Grandmother?” My smile widened and I ran closer to them. I miss them so much, I haven’t been with them for a long time because I was young when they died. Then now I can see them and hug more.
“Dad! Grandpa! Grandma!”
“Here, Jace, come here with us.” I was about to take a step when I heard a voice that seemed familiar to me.
“Jace.”
“Margot?” I looked around to find the voice. Is that really Margot? But where is she? “Margot?!” I called as I turned around to look for her.
“Jace,” she cries? The fuck, why is she crying?
“Margot, where are you?”Owned by NôvelDrama.Org.
“Jace, come back here. I’m just here.” Where is she? Why can’t I see her? But her voice was a little over there on the left bridge.
“Margot!” I was walking over there when daddy shouted.
“Jace, don’t you want us with son?” I stopped because of daddy’s question. I really miss them. But because —— anyway, I won’t go back because my wife and I are done and she doesn’t seem to want me anymore. Then daddy looks happier so I just join them.
“Jace, I love you so much.” I stopped stepping towards them. “That hasn’t changed.” Does she love me? But why did she give up on me? Why did she let this happen to us? “Jace, come back.” Here —– here I heard Margot’s voice. Because of what I heard I dared to walk to the left bridge where I could hear Margot’s voice.
“Margot!”
“Jace, I’ll be waiting for you. Please come back to us.”
“Yes, wait for me!” Here, here I hear her voice. I walked the bridge until it was down water. I didn’t know what was here and where I would be taken but I just kept going. The water had reached my neck so I stopped.
“Jace.” ‘damn it, I can’t stop but if I continue I might drown. “Jace please.” I’ll just try to be totally here. I went down into the water and walked again. But no matter what I walk I don’t see anything. I was a little out of breath so I went back to the surface and chased the breath. I will die when I go down. ‘I’ll just go there with daddy, it’s even easier to go there.’
“I need you, Jace,” But I couldn’t decide again because I could hear Margot’s voice. What should I do? “Umami and his sibling and I need you.”
Umami, my child. Sibling? What sibling? Who’s a sibling?
“Jace, in Cagayan do you remember? We formed something in Cagayan. You will be a daddy again and Umami will be an older brother.” I frowned at what she said. Will Umami have a sibling? The fuck! She is pregnant and it was formed because of what happened to us in Cagayan. I can’t give up. I have to get to the end of that bridge. I need to get to Margot. I need to see her and our children.
I went down into the water. Even though I was walking slowly because the water is already too deep. The water is already in my neck so I took a deep breath before continuing until the water reached my head. I was almost out of breath and I didn’t know how far I was going to walk. I had exhaled the air I had accumulated and I was about to run out. But I kept going because I kept hearing Margot’s voice.
My eyelid was getting heavy and I wanted to give up. But as I walked, Margot’s voice I kept hearing. This was followed by Umami’s crying along with a few memories of my past with Margot.
The painful things I did to her. My infidelity. My love for her that I thought was just pity. The thought I was just forced to marry her but the truth is that’s really what I want. I can’t give up. If I die because I want to see and be with them I will gamble.
My eyelid weighed down and I felt like my body was out of air. My body also gained weight so I slowly fell under the water but I still stepped on my foot to continue. Until darkness cover the whole area.
THE SOUND of devices is what I hear around. I also felt as if something was being stabbed in my mouth and nose. I couldn’t move my hand and I could only roll my eyeballs. I’m groggy and I don’t know what’s going on. I know I had a dream but I can’t remember what. I don’t remember anything and I have a bad headache.
“Jace, you’re awake.”
“A-a” I want to speak, I want to ask who she is. There was a woman’s voice next to me but I
didn’t know who.
“Call the doctor, love.” Is Blaze? But where am I? I feel so groggy and the weight of my body. Anything stuck in my mouth is even more difficult.
“Calm down, man, the doctor is coming.” I raised my hand when I felt someone hold my hand. My eyes are blurred and I try to see her. I also try to recognize her but I have a hard time.
“Please go a distance.” I heard a doctor say and it approached me with a nurse. Someone let go of my hand and she left me. I choked and felt sick when the doctor removed whatever it was from my mouth. He lit my eyes and also looked inside my mouth. He does a lot for me and then fixes it.
“How’s your feeling, Mr. Enrile?” asked the self-proclaimed doctor.
“I-I’m weak.”
“That’s the effect of your comatose. Can you answer some of my questions?” I nodded in response.
“Name, Age, Status.”
“Jace Enrile, 26, single.”
“Single?” the doctor asked and someone looked. I followed her gaze and saw a woman sitting in a wheelchair. I don’t see her face very much.
“Jace,” she calls to me. Gradually her appearance became clear and I could see her tears dripping. Suddenly, everything became clear to me as well as what had happened.
“Married, doc, sorry, I’m groggy,” I replied. I remember everything and even what happened to me.
“Wife and child’s name?”
“My wife is Margot, and my baby is Umami.”
“Is it clear to you why you were here?” I nodded in response. The building burned down and I was trapped that’s the last thing I remember.
“Yeah, there is a fire in the building and I was trapped inside my unit.” I feel pretty ok as well. Though, a bit dizzy I feel very clear in my mind.
“Good, well, you ran out of oxygen so you passed out. You inhaled smoke and got into your lungs. Some toxins go to your brain so you lost consciousness and went into a coma.” I just nodded. “Good to know that your wife saved you before you finally suffocated and filled your brain with the toxin. If she lasted a few more minutes —- you will never survive.” I kept looking at the doctor because of what he said. Margot held me before I fainted?
“Anyway, you’ve been in a coma for a week. I will prescribe some medication for you, and for now, you still need oxygen because your lungs aren’t that clean yet.” Then he looked at my companions. “If there is anything he needs just call me.” I heard no response from them until letting the doctor go.
“Jace.” I saw Margot crying and turned the wheelchair closer to me. She also took my hand and gently squeezed it. “I thought you were going to leave me forever.”
“Margot,” I softly whispered her name as she finally got closer.
