Truth
“What? Mate? Death? What the fuck do you mean, Sy? Please let me understand it!” I gritted my teeth, I can’t understand a single word from her, it makes me feel so dumb, in the middle of these two people-I mean, one person and a creature, or whatever.
“Vera,” Sy held both hands, “I need your presence here, this is a vital situation, and I need you to focus on me, do you understand?”
I shook my head, “No, I don’t understand, no! How the hell would you expect me to understand all this?! It doesn’t even make sense!”
“Vera, I know, I can’t explain everything overnight, but please, can you trust me on this one? I promise I will explain the things I knew, okay?”
“Sy,” I looked at Zach, who is more confused than I am right now, probably. “Zach,” he turn his gaze on me, as if, I pulled him out of his reverie, “Can you please leave for now? I want to be alone, this is all unbelievably absurd, can you please give me some time alone?”
I saw how Sy froze for a second, Zach looked at me and nodded, “We understand,” she turn his gaze to Sydney, who was still not moving, “Let’s go, Sydney,”
“Yes, my lord-” she blinked twice, “I mean, Zach,” she looked at me, the concern is visible in her eyes, “Vera, let me know if you’re ready okay? Just.. just call me, I’ll be here, okay?” I nodded, and she hugged me, before following Zach outside my apartment.
I weakly sat on my bad, looking at my wrist, the weird tattoo was still there, I wasn’t hurt compared to earlier, I sighed, and went to my glass window, I stepped out to my veranda to breathe some fresh air, my mind is in chaos now, I don’t know what to think.
Is this really who I am?
Am I not normal? Am I apart from people? I’m bewitched? After a vampire, then a vampire with werewolf blood, and now-witchcraft? Why am I being dragged into this situation?
I looked at the moon, it shines brightly, and I could see the mountain’s peak from here, I blink again, and my eyes start to feel a tingling sensation, it wasn’t hot nor cold, it tingles me when I opened my eyes, I felt like I was in the middle of nowhere, the moon serves as the spotlight.
I silently walk to the mirror, a small voice was echoing in my ear, pushing me to look at myself on the mirror, I stopped in front of my full-length mirror.
And to my horror, my eyes had something on it, my pupil starts to change its color, from brown to green, forming in a circular motion, shapes like a key, outside this was six circles, with different shapes inside. It was brown, then gold, and now, it’s blue!
What’s this? I lift my left hand, following the light that reflects on the mirror, the moon; it’s from the moon, and my eyes were being lighted by the moon.
I need to know the answers, I need to know why I’m becoming like this, I need to know who the hell really I am.
“Vera?! Oh my god! You’re really here! Come in an instant!” I smiled at her, as she pulled me inside her garden, the helper closed the gate, and followed us, as we enter the house, “Why didn’t you visit me for such a long time?! I’ve been looking for you everywhere!”Content is property of NôvelDrama.Org.
“Calm down, Aunt, I’m fine now,” I muttered, “How are you? Where’s your husband?”
Aunt Fatima, was my Uncle George’s ex-wife, they were separated, ten years ago, because of his verbal, emotional, and physical abuse towards her and their two children.
“He’s working, Liberty is staying in a boarding house, she’s in college now, Michael is at school now, he’s a senior high graduating,” she adoringly looked at me, I was her favorite before she had her own child, she became the mother I never had, “How’s life treating you? Do you have your own place? Are you working now? Who are you with?”
We both looked when we heard a knock, “Madame, here are your snacks, where should I put this?” the old servant looked at us, her wrinkled face frowning, then lighten up upon realizing who was in front of her.
“Vera?!” she didn’t have the time to control herself, and her voice was in so much shock, “My child!”
I laugh, and stood up to reciprocate her embrace, Aunt Fatima shook her head, with a smile on her lips.
“It was nice to see you again, lady Arry,” she was once my grandfather’s head housekeeper, to our old house. He serves from my great grandparents up to my uncle. We treat her as our family, “You look younger than the last time I saw you,”
“Don’t you say that, I know that I aged now, it’s been a decade since I last saw you, I have to leave with your Aunt, how’s George treating you? Are you still with him?”
I shook my head, “No, four months after you all left, I run away from home, basically, I was homeless for months, before I found a good job for me,”
She tapped my shoulder, “We should catch up later, I hate interrupting an important matter, go and enjoy yourself, I’ll leave you two here,”
I nodded and gave her an embrace again before she exited the room, “I didn’t know lady Arry was still working with you, Aunt,”
“Of course dear, she’s like a family to me, I’ll bring her wherever I can,” she looked at me, and I saw how her eyes moist, “I’m sorry, I had to leave you alone in that hell, it must have been hard for you, but believe me, when I had the chance, I tried to look for you, but I can’t find a single trace of you,”
“Let’s not talk about the past, Aunt,”
“Anyway, you haven’t answered my question earlier,”
I chuckled, “I’m staying at an apartment near the capitol, and yes, I’m working right now, it’s also near my place, about life-” I looked at her and sighed, “That’s why I’m here, life must have been playing with me,”
“Why? What happens? Did someone hurt you? Tell me!” she looks like she was ready to fight anytime, once I dropped a name.
“Hey, easy,” I let a small laugh, “I’m here to ask something,”
She nodded, and turn her attention to me, “What is it, my dear? Ask me anything,”
“Do you know who I really am?”
