Chapter 334
Chapter 334
From Vananeru's point of view, Jonathan did not look like an expert fighter. Rather, Pedor's bodyguards were just not skilled enough.
However, Pedor looked as if he had seen a ghost. After all, he knew how powerful the bodyguards were. The two had fought in underground boxing competitions before. Even the champion of underground boxing was not a match for them.
“What the heck is going on?” Pedor murmured to himself.
He did not realize Jonathan could fight. He doesn't look like an expert fighter.
While Pedor was struggling to recover from his shock, Jonathan lunged forward and pounced on the former.
“You want to cripple me, eh? I'm going to do that to you first,” said Jonathan in Ustranasian before giving his opponent two slaps on the face.
Pedor's cheeks turned red and swollen, and he even spat out a tooth.
Seeing red, Pedor shouted in Ustranasian, “Who the h*ll are you? Have you lost your mind? How dare you hit me?”
As far as Pedor knew, only he could beat people up. No one ever had the audacity to retaliate.
Just then, Vananeru walked over and tugged at Jonathan's shirt. “Stop fighting.”
Vananeru was not afraid of Pedor getting revenge, but she disliked watching people fight.
Hearing that, Jonathan took a deep breath and stood up.
With his temperament, Jonathan would have beaten Pedor until the latter was crippled for life.
However, there were more important things at hand, and he had no choice but to swallow his fury.
After getting to his feet with difficulty, Pedor took out his phone and pointed it at Jonathan. “Just you wait, you son of a gun. I swear you won't live to see tomorrow's sunrise.”
Vananeru furrowed her brows slightly.
Ignoring Pedor, Jonathan apologized to Vananeru, “Sorry. I didn't expect such a thing to happen.”
Vananeru handed him a piece of tissue, looking exceptionally calm and gentle. Shaking her head, she said, “It's not your fault. Are you all right?”
Jonathan broke into a smile and said, “I'm fine. My dad's been hitting me since young, so I'm used to it.”
“Son of a b*tch!” Pedor fumed when he saw that Jonathan wasn't the least bit afraid of him. D*mn it! He even has the audacity to flirt with this pretty girl right in front of me! This couple is just too arrogant!
Initially, there was a tender look in Jonathan's eyes.
But suddenly, Vananeru noticed a hostile gleam in his eyes, and he turned around before landing a kick
accurately on Pedor's stomach.
Bang!
Pedor was sent flying three meters backward before falling heavily on the ground. He was in so much pain that he could not scramble to his feet. Even his phone flew out and shattered into pieces.
Jonathan's eyes brimmed with murderous intent as he spat coldly, “Never insult my mother!”
Pedor had crossed the line.
Although Jonathan did not know who his mother was, he inadvertently had a soft spot for her.
Thus, he could not tolerate anyone insulting his mother.
Vananeru was slightly taken aback, and she stared at Jonathan in a daze.
His anger was relatable because she, too, had a soft spot for her own mother.
She was clueless about who her mother was; her father always said her mother was dead.
Therefore, Vananeru never knew who her mother was or what her mother looked like.
If someone insulted her mother, Vananeru believed she would be enraged as well.
In the meantime, Pedor was in so much pain that he felt his organs were severed.
“Let's go,” urged Vananeru.
He nodded, and the duo got into the Ferrari.
The back of the vehicle was smashed, but there was no problem driving it around.
No matter how infuriated Pedor was, there was nothing he could do at that moment.
Soon, the Ferrari left Mapleton University's grounds.
It was almost eight thirty at night.
Mapleton's nightlife had just begun. The city came to life with lights lighting up everywhere.
Jonathan had no idea what it was like in other parts of Thymion.
However, Mapleton's lively and unique religious atmosphere, complemented by the beauty of Royalty River and other elements, left a strong impression on the travelers.
When Jonathan and Vananeru left the university, the latter suggested, “We should go to the hospital first.”
“No need for such trouble. I can just get treated at a clinic. I'm tougher than you think,” said Jonathan.
Vananeru merely smiled and stopped persisting.
While driving, he said uneasily, “I'm sorry, Ms. Vananeru.”
“What for?” Vananeru was puzzled.
“Actually, I'm not a violent person. I never hit women.”
That was when Vananeru finally came to a realization. So, that's what he's worried about.
In response, she said seriously, “I thought you're heroic.”
Jonathan let out a sigh of relief and said, “I was really afraid you'd think I'm a violent person.”
“You're great,” commented Vananeru.
Hearing that, Jonathan slammed on the brakes, causing Vananeru's body to jerk forward from the inertia. Perplexed, she eyed him. “What's wrong?”
Jonathan looked a little excited as he asked, “Can I pursue you, then?”
Vananeru's face immediately turned red like a ripe apple. She could not help feeling shy and nervously gripped the hem of her dress. “Aren't you going back to your country to get married?”
“That's different. I don't have feelings for that woman. Back then, I agreed to the marriage because I haven't met you. Now that I have, I believe I must be bolder. That's why I came here to see you today.”
Vananeru gazed at him earnestly, saying, “If I reject you today, will you go back and get married?”
Jonathan was stunned, and he fell into deep thoughts. After several seconds, he said, “l don't think I'm an exceptionally brave person. It'll take a lot of courage for me to go against my father's wishes. I've been living my life the way he wanted since young. With you, I'll at least have a motive and a reason to persevere.”
“Happiness is something you need to fight for. Even if you didn't meet me, I think you shouldn't take your marital matters lightly. You can only get married if you want to and if you're in love with that person, not because you think it doesn't matter.”
“Can I pursue you, then?” asked Jonathan again.
“That's your right. Anyone has the right to pursue me, but I have the right to refuse you as well.”
Jonathan smiled knowingly. “I understand what you mean. Thank you, Ms. Vananeru.”
Vananeru smiled gracefully and said nothing more.
Immediately after that, the two found a nearby clinic. The doctor applied some rubbing alcohol to Jonathan's wound to sanitize it but did not bandage it.
The weather in Mapleton was hot. Bandaging wounds in that weather would only worsen it.
Meanwhile, Jonathan had been suppressing his vitality to prevent his wound from recovering too fast.
Otherwise, the speed of his recovery would only make Vananeru suspicious.
“Royalty River's really pretty at night. Let's rent a boat there and visit the floating market. What do you think?” suggested Jonathan.
Vananeru was taken aback, but she quickly put on a smile. “All right!”
There was nothing for her to worry about visiting Royalty River.
After all, it was not a dark and deserted place. In fact, it was the liveliest spot at night.
Upon hearing her answer, Jonathan started the engine and drove toward Royalty River.
So far, all Jonathan wanted to do was gain Vananeru's trust while concealing his animosity. He would then swiftly restrain her when she let her guard down.
In reality, he grew to like her the more he interacted with her.
He felt that it would be too cruel for Vananeru if he actually held her hostage.
Regardless, he had no other choice.
Half an hour later, Jonathan and Vananeru arrived at Royalty River. After renting a boat at a handsome price, he got onto it and extended his hand to help Vananeru.
Vananeru was blushing when she gave her hand to him.
That was because she rarely touched a person from the opposite gender.
Once they got onto the boat, they rowed it together.
Soon, the boat moved forward slowly.
There were many boats in the area. Two bigger boats by the shore cast a yellow glow on the surface of the river, making the place appear lively.
Many Chanaean tourists were having fun while a group of Thymions performed on one of the bigger boats.
It was truly a beautiful and mesmerizing city.
When Jonathan passed by a Thymion woman selling cheap jewelry, he bought a necklace without
giving it much thought. After all, it only cost five coins in Chanaean currency.
He then handed the necklace to Vananeru, saying, “For you.”
Vananeru was momentarily stunned. She then put on a smile and said, “Can you help me put it on?”
Jonathan's eyes immediately sparkled with excitement. “Of course!”
With that, Vananeru turned her head, and he brushed her hair aside to help her put on the necklace.
While he was doing that, he suppressed the urge in his heart.
That was the perfect opportunity to make a move.
In the end, Jonathan gave up on the idea. He still felt it was too risky. I'm going to wait until she trusts me completely and has feelings for me before making a move. That way, she won't activate Galad's primordial spirit when I attack her.
By the time he was done helping her put on the necklace, her face was already flushed red. “I really like it,” she said.
Scratching the back of his head, Jonathan said, “I'll buy you a better one next time.”
Vananeru smiled brightly.
After that interaction, their relationship grew closer, and they behaved less awkwardly around each other. A harmonious atmosphere surrounded them.
“We have many fun places in Chanaea. If you ever go there, I'll bring you around,” offered Jonathan.
Vananeru, too, became excited. “I want to watch the sunrise on Mount Goliath.”
“I can take you there anytime if you want.”
Hearing those words made her shy. “We'll see.” Please check at N/ôvel(D)rama.Org.
At that, Jonathan changed the topic. “I think life is really interesting.”
“Really? How so?”
“Most of the time, I find myself different from others. But in reality, I'm the same as the rest. I like to indulge myself in unrealistic dreams where I become a hero. Then, I'll meet a heroine who'll go on adventures and fight for justice with me.”
Vananeru listened to every word intently.
