Chapter 219 Why Do Women Marry and Produce?
Yanis' parents had been too harsh to Yanis these years.
It would be less weird if Yanis was adopted.
But she wasn't. Her parents just treated their children differently.
Martin and Olivia gave Antonio all the best things.
And they gave all the bad things to Yanis.
They made Yanis look like an adopted child.
The reason why Yanis was so determined to marry Zane back then was partially because of her
parents.
If they had treated Yanis nicer, Yanis wouldn't have been so desperate for a home.
But her wish never came true.
Thompson Residence didn't feel like home, and neither did where she lived with Zane.
Now she was alone again.
Fortunately, in this failed marriage with Zane, Yanis at least got something.
Bonnie looked at Yanis, who was leaning on the seat and looking out the window and sighed silently.
Sometimes life was just so unfair as if it was deliberately targeting one person. All bad things happen to
that person.
Soon the car stopped at Linen Bay.
Bonnie turned off the engine and unbuttoned her seat belt, then turned to look at Yanis and called her
softly, "Yanis?"
Hearing Bonnie's voice, Yanis came back to her senses, "Huh?"
"What are you going to do with Antonio?"
Yanis pursed her lower lip, "Should I care?"
Bonnie hesitated for a few seconds, "Should I have people check on it?"
Yanis shook her head, "No, let him be."
Bonnie wanted to say something else, but Yanis had already unbuckled her seat belt and got out of the
car, "Are you staying here tonight?"
"I think I'll go to the studio tonight, why don't you take your belongings to live with me in the studio?"
Yanis stood beside the car and shook her head, "No need, go work. I'll go back to sleep."
Bonnie looked at her watch. "Then I'll come over to accompany you at night."
Yanis nodded, "Come over when you're done."
Bonnie hummed, "Call me if you need anything."
"Drive slowly."
After speaking, Yanis raised her hand and closed the car door, retreated it.
Bonnie glanced at Yanis before restarting the car and driving away.
Yanis stood there watching Bonnie's car drive out of Linen Bay, then walked in.
She had spent the past few days with Bonnie. Now suddenly being alone, Yanis felt a little weird.
At the door of the elevator, she saw a couple waiting for the elevator with a child who was several
months old.
The man was looking at his phone all the time. His wife called him several times. Finally, he answered
impatiently, "Why are you so annoying? Others don't have so many problems babysitting." Property © NôvelDrama.Org.
The woman looked embarrassed, but she endured it because they were in public. She just said softly,
"The baby is not feeling well. It should be hungry. Can you..."
"We are almost home! Would it starve to death after we arrive home? "
Hearing the man's words, Yanis frowned.
The woman stared at the man for a long while, but she still didn't speak again.
When the elevator stopped, the man entered the elevator and left his wife, child, and a stroller outside
the elevator.
"What are you waiting for? Come in! "
He couldn't be more impatient.
Yanis watched the woman holding the baby in one hand, carrying a big bag with the other, and
meanwhile had to push the stroller, which was very inconvenient.
"Let me help you."
Yanis stepped forward and pushed the stroller into the elevator.
The woman looked at Yanis a little anxiously and thanked her.
There was a bit of suppressed choking in the woman's voice.
Yanis nodded and said nothing more.
When the elevator door was closing, the child suddenly started crying.
The man frowned impatiently, and the woman softly coaxed the child into her arms over and over
again.
The elevator stopped on the third floor, and the man walked out like a stranger without even looking
back.
The woman stood still in the elevator as if she had no intention of going out.
When the elevator closed again, the woman crouched down helplessly holding the child.
Yanis wanted to say something but she felt it was inappropriate.
After all, she was a stranger.
The elevator stopped again, Yanis was about to leave the elevator when she heard the suppressed
crying of the woman, Yanis finally stopped, "Are... are you okay?"
The woman didn't seem to expect that Yanis would stop suddenly. With tears still on her face, she
looked at Yanis with some embarrassment.
Yanis pursed her lower lip, "Do you need to talk? Come with me."
The woman hesitated for a while but shook her head, "Thank you, I am good."
Yanis looked at the crying child, "I live alone, it won't disturb anyone, the child may be hungry, maybe
we should get him something to eat first?"
The woman finally followed Yanis out of the elevator.
"Take a seat."
The woman thanked Yanis again.
"Shall I boil some hot water and make milk powder for the child?"
The woman shook her head, "No need."
Yanis nodded upon hearing that. Then she turned around to boil water and poured a glass for the
woman.
Afterward, Yanis sat on the sofa beside her.
The baby fell into a deep sleep after eating.
Two unfamiliar women sat like this.
It wasn't until the woman's cell phone rang suddenly that the two of them came back to their senses
and glanced at each other.
The woman picked up her phone and answered the call. It should be the woman's husband calling.
Yanis heard the man's scolding from a distance through the mobile phone.
The woman said she'd be home later.
The man hung up the phone without saying anything.
The woman smiled awkwardly at Yanis, "Thank you today, I got to go now."
Yanis didn't ask her to stay. "Shall I take you down?"
The woman shook her head and refused, "No need, I can do it."
Yanis didn't insist. She sent them into the elevator, "Take care."
The woman smiled at Yanis, "You are pregnant, take care too."
Yanis was taken aback for a moment, then nodded, "Okay."
Yanis was curious how the woman found out that she was pregnant.
After the elevator door closed, Yanis cast a glance at her flat stomach, and couldn't help but touch it.
The baby hadn't formed yet. She couldn't feel it.
Yet putting her hand on it gave Yanis a sense of peace.
If she hadn't divorced Zane, Maybe Zane would not treat her like that if she was pregnant. But she
would be alone all the same. So why would women marry and produce?
