Chapter 827: You Have Your Position, and I Have Mine

After dialing for a while, Ivan finally answered the phone. "Dad?" he said.

"Where are you? Let's go out and take a walk. It's been a long time since we've done that. Manchester

City has changed quite a bit in recent years," Ryan said in a low voice.

After hearing Ryan's words, Ivan was silent for a few seconds before speaking up. "I'm in the garage.

Come on in."

"Okay," Ryan replied.

After hanging up the phone, Ryan turned around and walked into the garage.

When Ivan saw Ryan come in, he got out of the passenger seat and said, "Dad."

Ryan responded and walked over to him. "Let's go for a walk," he said.

Ivan nodded his head and let Ryan get into the car first before getting into the driver's seat himself and

driving away.

The father-son duo didn't speak during their drive until after some time had passed when Ryan finally

spoke up again. "Having multiple sisters isn't easy," he said.

Upon hearing this, Ivan turned to look at him with surprise written all over his face. "Do you... have any

thoughts about it?"

Ryan remained silent for some time before saying: "Actually, I knew about this matter long ago but I

didn't want to bring it up again because everyone makes mistakes when they're young sometimes...

Although she did something wrong back then, Martin also had responsibility for what happened too - if

he hadn't wanted to be with her so badly at that time then none of this would have happened."

"A slap can never sound without two hands clapping; although there may be loopholes in this

statement sometimes it still holds true most of the times - if Martin hadn't thought like that then even if

she wanted to be with him it would have been impossible so both of them were at fault here."

"And later on when Martin returned home after changing his ways because he felt guilty towards your

mother leaving behind that child was just an accident which wasn't directly related to your mother but…

you can't say there's no connection either; everything seems destined somehow or other - after your

mother sent that child off to The Thompson Family they treated her as one of their own until later on

when they had their own son only then did they start treating her harshly but I'm sure you already know

all these things right?"

After listening carefully to everything that was being told by his father-in-law-to-be Ivan murmured

softly: "But if not…"

Ivan interrupted Ryan." I know. I'll try to understand her."

"Ivan, she is your mother. You should trust her unconditionally and stand by her, even if she really did

something wrong. You can criticize the way she does things and correct her mistakes to make

improvements, but you cannot abandon her. That will hurt her." Ryan's words left Ivan silent for a long

time. He didn't know how to respond to Ryan's words and felt that Ryan was too biased towards

Madison.

Madison was at fault in this matter, and quite a bit of it.

Not to mention what happened with Martin back then, but now with Yanis, if Madison didn't know Yanis'

identity, it would be understandable. However, since Madison knew about it but still treated Yanis like

that, Ivan couldn't understand why.

Ryan naturally guessed what Ivan was thinking when he saw him remain silent. "Do you think your

mother's current actions are inappropriate or unfair to Yanis?"

Ivan didn't deny it. "Since you know that much about it already then why still do this?"

"Yeah," Ryan repeated Ivan's words again,"if we both know why does she have to do this?"

"Have you ever asked your mom for the reason behind doing so?"

Just as Ivan was about to speak up again, Ryan spoke up once more,"Ivan, you know I've always

listened to your mom in our family. Even now, I'm standing on her side even if she did something

wrong."

"She just thinks I might reject or distance myself from her, and even thinks we father and son will

abandon her. So, she is being cautious every step of the way, rather than admitting any mistakes. In

the end, it is because she cares too much about us. That's why she is so careful."

After listening carefully, Ryan's explanation made sense. Ivan fell into silence, maybe because he really

couldn't accept Madison's approach. So he had some emotions which led him not fully understanding

what Ryan said before. He thought that everything Ryan said was just helping Madison excuse herself

without understanding the real reason behind why Madison acted like this - simply because they were

too important in each other's lives.

"I understand that you may not fully comprehend how your mother feels right now due to certain

emotions, but I don't expect you have an immediate understanding. Ivan, she isn't as bad as you think.

She only..."

This time, Ivan interrupted Ryan before he could finish his sentence. "I know you love my mom and

care about her. No matter what she does, you think it's okay and even believe that everything she does

has a reason behind it. But have you ever thought about why others have to bear so much that they

shouldn't?"

"Ivan, what I mean is..."

"I know what you mean. I do like Yanis and even fantasize about being with her, getting married and

having children together. But right now, we're just friends with no other relationship beyond friendship. I

just couldn't accept it immediately after finding out about this situation. Do you understand how I feel

right now?"

Ryan's words got stuck in his throat.

The car suddenly became quiet as father and son didn't speak anymore.

Ivan aimlessly drove around the city for a while before finally dropping Ryan off at the Baxter family

home.

The car stopped at the front door, and Ryan unbuckled his seatbelt. "Do you want to go to the

hospital?"

Ivan nodded. "You go inside."

Ryan nodded back then got out of the car but looked back at Ivan before closing the door."I'll talk to

your mom again; your relationship shouldn't be affected by others."

After hearing Ryan's words, Ivan looked up at him,"Dad, do you think Yanis is someone else for my

mom?"

Ryan frowned,"This situation is currently best for everyone involved; there's no need for any changes

on your mom's side."

"What about your opinion?"

Ryan met Ivan's gaze,"I will always stand by your mother unconditionally without any reasons or

conditions."

After listening to Ryan's words, Ivan didn't say anything more but only nodded."I understand that

everyone has their own position."

Ryan wanted to say something else but was cut off by Ivan who said, "Let me go check on things at the

hospital first; You can go inside now."

As soon as Ryan closed the door behind him after getting out of the car, Ivan started driving away

without saying another word.
