Chapter 931: If You're Polite to Me, It'll Be Really Awkward
After listening to Wendy's words, Yanis nodded. "You can continue with your work. I'll make a phone
call."
"Alright."
Yanis took her phone and walked outside, going quite a distance before finding Dr. Wood's number in
her contacts.
As she found the phone number, Yanis suddenly hesitated.
No one was sure about Bonnie's situation right now, so it seemed inappropriate to contact Dr. Wood so
abruptly.
With her phone in hand, Yanis stood still, hesitating for a long time. In the end, she decided not to dial
Dr. Wood's number.
Yanis stayed in the store until evening before driving back to D-King Castle.
Zane hadn't returned yet. He had a client meeting in the evening and might be home late.
So when Yanis returned home, she didn't contact Zane and went straight in.
As Yanis entered the house, the housekeeper had just finished preparing the meal. "Mrs. Lawrence,
you're back."
Yanis responded, "Zane may not be coming home for dinner tonight. Did you tell him?"
The housekeeper helped Yanis take off her shoes and placed them by her feet. "Mr. Lawrence called in
the afternoon and said he might not be coming home for dinner."
Yanis didn't say anything more after hearing the response. She turned and entered the dining room.
Yanis pulled out a chair and sat down at the dining table, then looked at the housekeeper and called
her softly. This text is © NôvelDrama/.Org.
The housekeeper, upon hearing Yanis' voice, walked over to Yanis. "Mrs. Lawrence, what's the
matter?"
"I can't finish all this food by myself. Join me for dinner," Yanis said softly.
The housekeeper shook her head repeatedly. "Mrs. Lawrence, you go ahead and eat. It's not proper for
me to sit at the table."
Yanis stood up and personally pulled out a chair for the housekeeper. "There are no rules here. I don't
want to have dinner alone tonight, so please have a meal with me."
The housekeeper hesitated at Yanis' words but finally turned and went to the kitchen to fetch another
set of utensils. "Mrs. Lawrence, please sit."
Seeing the housekeeper with the utensils, Yanis sat back down.
After Zane hired this housekeeper, Yanis hadn't learned much about her background. After all, Zane
would only hire people with a clean background.
It was rare for Yanis to be alone with the housekeeper today, so while eating, Yanis casually asked a
couple of questions.
"Do you still have a daughter, Auntie?"
A smile appeared on the housekeeper's face when she mentioned her daughter. "Yes, she just started
college, and her grades are excellent. She got in through a recommendation."
"Which university is she attending?"
"The one in that foreign country... I can't recall the name suddenly, even though it's a famous one."
Upon hearing that, Yanis asked, "Which country is it?"
"M Country."
"The most famous university there is M University. It's the best university in M Country."
Pride was evident in the housekeeper's eyes. "She worked so hard in her studies, and now that she's
finally in college, her father and I will do whatever it takes to support her until she finishes."
Yanis had only heard that the housekeeper's family wasn't well-off and had various financial needs. At
the time, Yanis speculated whether someone in their family was ill or if there were other reasons.
She hadn't expected that the urgent need for money would be to support her daughter's education.
However, upon hearing the housekeeper's words, Yanis couldn't help but feel curious. If her daughter
was directly admitted to the university, apart from the basic living expenses, there wouldn't be much
need for money. And in those universities, the three meals a day were provided by the school. The
students would only spend money on personal expenses and things they wanted to buy. Even though
the cost of living there was high, it shouldn't put such a burden on a family.
With that in mind, Yanis helped the housekeeper with some food and said, "Auntie, I have a friend in M
Country. If you need any help, just let me know, and I'll ask him to look after your daughter."
Upon hearing Yanis' words, the housekeeper raised her gaze and looked at Yanis. "Mrs. Lawrence, you
have a friend in M Country?"
Yanis nodded. "Yes."
The housekeeper became somewhat excited, put down her fork, and stood up, walking to the side.
Soon, she fetched her phone from the cabinet near the entrance and walked a few steps to Yanis,
passing a photo on her phone to Yanis. "Mrs. Lawrence, this is my daughter, Yuna."
Yanis looked at the photo on the housekeeper's phone.
The girl in the photo had a very decent appearance, the kind that exuded a ladylike aura. At first
glance, she gave off a very pleasant feeling.
"Auntie, your daughter is beautiful."
"Looks like her father, he's handsome," the housekeeper said with some embarrassment.
After responding to her, Yanis
looked at the housekeeper and said softly, "Auntie, I've tried to call her several times in the past few
days, but no one answered, and there were no replies to my messages. I even contacted the alternate
phone number she left me, but they said they didn't know anyone named Yuna. I'm wondering if she
got the number wrong, and I'm worried if something happened to her."
After hearing the housekeeper's words, Yanis asked, "Does she live on campus?"
The housekeeper nodded. "Yes, she lives on campus in a single-person apartment provided by the
university."
"Have you called the university?"
The housekeeper nodded. "I couldn't get through to them either."
After listening to the housekeeper, Yanis took her phone from the side and dialed Ivan's number.
The call was quickly answered on the other side. "Yanis?"
"Ivan, I need your help with something."
Ivan whispered, "Wait for five minutes, and I'll call you back."
Upon hearing Ivan's response, Yanis simply acknowledged and hung up the phone.
Ivan's call came exactly five minutes later.
Yanis answered the call. "Are you done with your work?"
"I'm finished," Ivan replied and asked, "How have you been lately?"
"Pretty good," Yanis responded.
Ivan asked on the phone, "You mentioned that you needed my help earlier. What's the matter?"
Yanis briefly explained Auntie's situation to Ivan. "I want you to go to M University and check on her. It
would put Auntie's mind at ease."
After hearing Yanis' words, Ivan whispered, "I happen to be going near M University tomorrow. I'll go
and check on her, and I'll send you a message with any updates."
Yanis acknowledged with a "mm-hmm." "Thank you for your help."
"If you keep being so polite to me, it'll be really awkward."
Yanis chuckled softly. "Alright, I won't be polite then. But please do go and check on her tomorrow;
otherwise, Auntie will worry."
