Chapter 986: Talking About Our Matter
As soon as Anika entered, she walked over to the Old Mrs. Lawrence. "Grandma, are you okay?"
Anika's eyes were filled with concern.
The Old Mrs. Lawrence raised her hand and gently rubbed Anika's head. "Grandma is fine. Why did
you come back? Who told you?"
"I told Anika," Zane's voice sounded from the side.
The Old Mrs. Lawrence looked at Zane with a hint of reproach. "You're really something. Anika is like
this now, and you're telling her things, making her worry for no reason."
Anika held the Old Mrs. Lawrence's hand and said softly, "Grandma, I'm okay now. You don't need to
worry about me."
Although the fall didn't seem to have caused any major injuries, the Old Mrs. Lawrence looked much
older than before. She seemed to have aged instantly.
After talking to Yanis earlier about urging her and Zane to have a child, the Old Mrs. Lawrence also
whispered to Anika, asking her when she and Iris would make a final decision.
Upon hearing the Old Mrs. Lawrence's inquiry, Anika said softly, "Grandma, you know about my
situation now. Although Iris doesn't mind, there's still the Duncan family and Iris's parents to consider.
They might not have the same mindset as Iris. We also need to consider their perspective."
The Old Mrs. Lawrence seemed to find some reason in Anika's words. She glanced at Iris, who was
talking to Zane and the others, before speaking softly, "Does Yanis think the same way?"
After hearing the Old Mrs. Lawrence's question, Yanis looked at Anika's face and replied softly, "When
Iris was injured last time, I saw Iris's parents at the hospital. Their relationship seemed strained, but
they cared a lot about Iris. I just don't know how they feel about Iris's marriage."
Everyone knew about Anika's situation, and there was no problem from Iris's side. Even Olive Deere
wouldn't have any objections. However, no one knew for sure about Iris's parents' thoughts and
personalities.
After a moment of silence, Yanis spoke again, "Let's talk to Iris about this when the time is right. We'll
see how Iris feels about it."
With that said, Yanis looked at the Old Mrs. Lawrence. "Grandma, as long as Anika and Iris are both
willing, the marriage can happen at any time. There's no need to rush."
The Old Mrs. Lawrence nodded. "The marriage doesn't have to be rushed, but it should be planned.
That way, I can feel at ease."
The Old Mrs. Lawrence seemed to have left out half of what she wanted to say, but both Anika and
Yanis understood.
"Grandma, I'll talk to Iris later, okay?" Anika said to the Old Mrs. Lawrence.
The Old Mrs. Lawrence responded softly, "Chat with her."
"Yanis, let's bring Grandma over to have dinner," Rachel called from the dining table after setting
everything up.
Yanis got up, pushed the wheelchair, and headed towards the dining room with the Old Mrs. Lawrence.
"Did Sister-in-law not come back?" Anika walked beside Yanis and asked softly.
Mentioning Phoebe, Yanis shook her head gently. "She's probably busy during this time. She'll come
back when she's done."
Anika whispered, "I heard about what happened before from Iris. Is Sister-in-law alright?"
"She's fine, don't worry," Yanis reassured her.
Seeing that empty seat, Rachel sighed silently.
"Why didn't Phoebe come?" the Old Mr. Lawrence suddenly paused while eating and looked at Rachel
and Dylan.
Dylan looked at the Old Mr. Lawrence and replied softly, "Phoebe was too busy with work today and
couldn't get away for a while. She said she'd come after finishing her work, but if she couldn't make it,
she'll come next time." NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
"Work is important, but she also needs rest. She can't keep working like a machine all the time," the
Old Mr. Lawrence said in a low voice.
Dylan nodded. "I know. I've told her that."
"Let's eat." After Dylan replied, the Old Mr. Lawrence continued with his meal.
During the meal, Iris noticed that Anika wasn't very enthusiastic and asked softly, "What's wrong? Are
you feeling unwell?"
Upon hearing Iris's question, Anika shook her head gently. "It's nothing. I'm just thinking about
something."
Iris helped Anika with a dish and said, "I'm worried that I talked to your dad and the Old Mr. Lawrence
about our matter."
When Anika heard this, she looked up in shock. "What?"
Anika's reaction was too intense, and she accidentally knocked over the fruit juice on the table.
Iris quickly reached out, pulled Anika into his arms, and stabilized the cup. "Are you okay?"
