Chapter 17
Fulfill a Wife's Duties
They looked at each other without saying anything. Benjamin got out of the car, walked into the villa, and went to the bedroom.
He looked sullen, and the atmosphere in the room was a little oppressive.
The door and window were closed. Benjamin smelled heavily of tobacco and alcohol. Harper felt a little uncomfortable from the smell, so she asked in a low voice, "Do you still want to take a shower?" "What do you mean? Do you think I have already taken a shower outside?" Benjamin asked.
"Isn't it?"
Benjamin frowned and said indifferently, "Do you have some issues or complaints about me? If so, just say it. I said that I won't do anything violates the marriage before we divorce."
"Who knows? I'm not with you every day," Harper retorted.
Benjamin stared at her. "If you want, you can follow me from tomorrow on."
"No." Harper refused and asked casually, "Didn't you already take a shower in the hospital?"
"Who told you this? That's a hospital, not a hotel. Do you think I can take a shower and stay there?"
Harper stared at Benjamin doubtfully, thinking, "Didn't he? Or did Lauren lie to me?"
She said in a low voice, "I called you tonight, and Lauren answered the phone. She said you were in the shower and couldn't answer the phone." "Really?" Benjamin asked.
Harper pressed her lips. She thought, "What did he mean? Does he think I have wronged Lauren?"
She murmured, "I don't need to lie to you."From NôvelDrama.Org.
"It's not what I meant," Benjamin explained.
Harper didn't want to continue this topic. She said, "You don't need to explain to me. It's getting late. You go take a shower. I'm going to bed."
After saying that, she passed Benjamin and walked towards the bed.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes and grabbed her wrist. With a little force, he pulled her into his arms.
They were very close to each other. Harper could hear his strong heartbeat and feel his muscular chest.
She knew very well how good Benjamin's figure was. When she had sex with him, she could clearly feel his tensed muscles.
Thinking of this, Harper blushed immediately.
She struggled subconsciously. "What are you doing? Let me go."
Benjamin looked down at her, suddenly wanting to tease her. He smiled, "Harper, you are my wife. Don't you know what I want to do?"
Harper was stunned. She widened her eyes and asked, "Did you forget that we are getting divorced?"
"But we haven't divorced yet." Benjamin leaned forward. His face almost pressed on hers.
Harper felt her face was burning. She looked shocked and said in a low voice, "I don't want it." She refused.
Her resistance was obvious.
Benjamin narrowed his eyes, which were full of chill, and his face was indifferent. "Harper, as long as we are a couple, you must fulfill the duties of a wife." Harper retorted, "What's the difference between us now and being divorced? Aren't you afraid that Lauren will find out and blame you for being disloyal to her?"
"What does this have to do with her?"
"It does matter! Benjamin, isn't she the one you love?"
"Harper, could you stop using Lauren as a shield to escape the truth every time?"
Harper thought, "Benjamin looks unhappy. Is it because I mentioned Lauren? Does he really love her that much? Can't I even mention her in front of him?"
Harper laughed at herself in her mind. "Now I know how much Benjamin cares about the woman he loves. I'm noting to him."
She pressed her lips and said in a low voice, "I'm sorry. I won't do it again."
Her obedience did not make Benjamin feel any pleasure. Instead, he felt his throat was clogged with something, making him feel uncomfortable.
The problem between them had not been resolved. When Benjamin came out of the bathroom, Harper had already turned to her side and fell asleep. Looking at her beautiful face, Benjamin frowned. He didn't know what had happened to her recently, but she became bad-tempered. Benjamin thought, "Is it because we are getting divorced that she doesn't need to disguise herself? So her tenderness this year is fake?"
Benjamin suddenly felt that he really didn't understand Harper.
