Chapter 68
Ruin Her Reputation
Quickly, there was progress on the side of Frank.
He handed over the findings to Harper, then asked, "Harper, what do you want to do? I can help."
"I don't need your help, you focus on your own tasks. I'm also getting ready to go to the site."
"What about this matter?"
Frank asked with a worried frown.
"I don't have time to deal with it, let's just leave it for now."
Harper seemed indifferent, pretending not to know anything, and let the matter slide.
She set off for the construction site, and this busy schedule lasted the whole day. Recently, she spent most of her time there, walking around to survey and revise drawings. Although tiring, it was also a way to stay fit, making her feel better, especially thinking that it toughened her up for the baby.
At noon, Harper went to a restaurant with Charlie and others. Since everyone at the table was familiar, the atmosphere was casual.
During the meal, Harper went to the restroom.
When she returned, she was stopped at the restroom door.
It was Nathan.
With his hands in his pockets, Nathan looked at Harper with a sinister smile. "Ms. Mitchell, we meet again. Shall we grab a meal together?"
Harper replied calmly, "Mr. Lynch, we're not acquainted, so there's no need for us to eat together, right?"
"Harper Mitchell, I advise you not to act recklessly, or I have my ways to deal with you."
"Mr. Lynch, this is a society governed by the rule of law. Are you suggesting you'll do something illegal?"
Nathan remained silent, and Harper managed to slip away smoothly.
Encountering Nathan again made her suspicious.
On the other side, Curtis reported this incident to Benjamin.
"Mr. Martin, Nathan is a treacherous person. With Mrs. Martin being so beautiful, wouldn't he have evil intentions?"
Benjamin's face showed a hint of inquiry as he asked, "Do you think Harper is very beautiful?"
Curtis hesitated for a moment, unsure how to respond.
He lowered his head and quickly clarified. "Mr. Martin, what I mean is, would Nathan do anything harmful to Mrs. Martin?"
With a face that always seemed to hold a sense of inquiry, Benjamin said calmly, "Keep an eye on her secretly. If anything happens, inform me immediately." "Understood."
Relieved, Curtis left the office.
Benjamin leaned back in his chair, his eyes deep and filled with a sense of loneliness. In his mind echoed Curtis' words, "With Mrs. Martin being so beautiful." Benjamin was well aware of Harper's beauty, especially the allure in her eyes, which only intensified his dissatisfaction the more he thought about it.
This woman could affect his mood.

In the evening, Harper left the construction site, preparing to return to Pineview Villa.
Her phone rang at that moment.
"Hello, who's this?"
"Is this Harper? It's me, Lauren Davis."
"Lauren?"
This was the first time they had spoken on the phone.
Lauren went straight to the point, her tone slightly urgent. "Harper, let's reconcile."
"Ms. Davis, are you kidding me?" Harper genuinely laughed.
Harper laughed.
However, Lauren said, "I know you're still upset with me, but I genuinely want to have a good conversation with you. I understand that there are many misunderstandings between us, but these days I've thought about it. Feelings are something that cannot be forced. If you and Benjamin are truly in love, I'll bless you both. Since we couldn't clear things up over the phone, why don't we meet and talk?" Harper narrowed her eyes slightly. In reality, she hadn't even thought about it and was about to refuse immediately, but she stopped herself at the last moment.© NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
She said, "You want to meet and talk with me?"
"Is that okay?"
Lauren asked tentatively, and Harper readily agreed.
But it wasn't at a café or restaurant, but at a hotel.
Lauren explained that she was worried about causing trouble for Harper if they were spotted in public, and coincidentally, she was filming a promotional video near the hotel.
Harper had no objections throughout the process. Whatever Lauren said, she complied.
When Harper arrived at the hotel room, Lauren poured her a glass of water and invited her to sit. "Harper, I apologize for asking you to come all this way."
Harper just looked at her without saying a word. "What do you have to say?"
Lauren said, "I feel like continuing this way is not a solution. If you don't love Benjamin, can you please stop pestering him?"
"Ms. Davis, Benjamin and I are husband and wife, so I don't understand what you mean by 'pestering him.' Besides, he doesn't want to divorce me. Don't you know that?"
"You're talking nonsense!" Lauren's emotions were immediately ignited, and she said, "Clearly, you're the one who won't let go. Why won't you leave? Is it for money? How much do you want? I'll give it to you." Harper pressed her lips lightly and said calmly, "It seems like you didn't invite me for a meal. Is this meal supposed to buy me off?"
"Harper, I advise you to be sensible, or you'll be the one embarrassed."
Lauren revealed her true colors.
"So, Lauren, you invited me for a meal as a pretense, and the real intention is to warn me?"
Lauren didn't deny it, so she tacitly accepted it.
Harper didn't rush to say anything. She wanted to see what Lauren really wanted to do.
The two locked eyes, and Lauren said again, "What will it take for you to leave Benjamin?"
Lauren's goal was to make Harper divorce, or at least leave Benjamin, but Harper didn't indulge her and had no obligation to report everything to her.
As she left the hotel room, Lauren stared at her back and sneered, "Harper, let's see who will have the last laugh."
Harper stood at the elevator waiting for it, but just as she was about to enter, a sudden force pulled her out forcefully and dragged her into the room opposite the elevator.
Everything happened so quickly that Harper couldn't react in time.
The room was pitch black, and she instinctively struggled. "Who's there?"
The light was turned on at that moment.
The person holding her wrist was Nathan.
She shook off his grip and took a step back to maintain her distance. "Nathan? What are you doing?"
"Nothing, just waiting for you here." Nathan closed the door and slowly approached her. "Harper, I've admired you for a long time. I've also made it clear that I'm willing to play with you, but you've always been pretending to be reserved and reluctant to approach me. There's no other way, so I can only take this approach to challenge you. So, how about it? Are you willing to accompany me now?" "Did Lauren ask you to do this?"
Harper exposed it bluntly.
Nathan's face stiffened for a moment, but quickly returned to normal, though Harper still noticed it.
He smirked, closing the distance between them, his breath falling directly on Harper's face, making her feel disgusted.
"Harper, don't waste time with me. Will you play with me for a night and then part ways, or do you want to be caught by the reporters and have your reputation ruined?" Nathan sneered.
Harper turned her head slightly away, maintaining distance. The warm light in the room fell on her flawless skin. Just as Benjamin had said, her eyes seemed to do nothing, yet their cold gaze had a subtle, seductive quality.
Harper's expression subtly changed. "Refusing to play with you means my reputation will be ruined?"
Nathan coldly chuckled, "Don't pretend to be innocent with me. You'll have your moments of joy later."
Nathan's face flushed, his eyes becoming increasingly unfocused. His change made Harper feel something was off.
She felt his thoughts were out of control, and a certain color began to deepen in his eyes. Even his breathing seemed to intensify.
Nathan squinted, taking advantage of Harper's momentary hesitation to grab her and press her onto the couch, then began to unbutton his shirt.
Harper's face paled slightly, and she spoke calmly, slowing her tone. "Nathan, aren't you here to play? I can play with you in a more exciting way, you know?"
