Independence 258
Chapter 02:59
Hansel’s head was pounding, and his mood grew increasingly Irritable. He switched to silence mode and set his phone face down on the table. He said coldly, “Continue.”
Everyone else kept their eyes on the floor to avoid any stray glances.
After the meeting, Hansel returned to his office and glanced at his phone. He was fuming and laughing at
the same time.
Ingrid was using his supplementary card, so every transaction sent notifications to his phone.
As the messages continued to flood in, his frustration flared. Just as he was about to put his phone down, she sent a WhatsApp message.
“Hey Hans, I bought all these things. Do they look good? I also got you a tie and a coat.”This belongs to NôvelDrama.Org - ©.
He barely glanced at the message before blo
jher number.
Hansel massaged his forehead and walked to the floor–to–ceiling window. He looked at the bustling traffic below and couldn’t help but think of Miranda, Lately, thoughts of her had become more frequent, and she even appeared in his dreams.
In the past, he had given Miranda a black card. Besides basic living expenses and occasional gifts for Evelyn, she mostly used her own money.
Hansel knew she did freelance programming, but he wasn’t sure how much she earned. It probably wasn’t much, considering she rarely bought designer items.
The mansion’s cabinet was filled with jewelry and designer bags he had bought her. She saved them for special occasions and rarely used them. After the breakup, she left those items at the mansion as if they were just another piece of discarded clutter.
Ingrid’s presence felt like a curse. It was a constant reminder for Hansel of how much he had lost and what a disgusting replacement he had gotten.
Ingrid noticed Hansel hadn’t replied and sent another message. The screen displayed a single check mark, which indicated her message hadn’t been delivered. She couldn’t believe he had blocked her.
Furious, her cheeks flushed, and her chest heaved. Her stomach tightened again, and she took deep breaths to calm herself.
Once she composed herself, she pointed to the two maids and ordered, “I want coconut water from the place downstairs. Go get it.”
“I’ll go. You stay here and keep an eye on things,” Lilian said to Eleanor.
“Fine,” Eleanor replied.
Ingrid sneered, “I told both of you to go. Don’t you understand?”
“But these things-
Ingrid cut her off, “Carry it.”
The two maids exchanged glances, clearly annoyed and frustrated.
Ingrid didn’t care. She only knew she had to vent her frustration somewhere after feeling mistreated by Hansel and Evelyn.
That night, Hansel didn’t return home again. Ingrid, surrounded by shopping bags, alternated between crying and laughing before throwing things around.
Martha mumbled from her nap, “I just closed my eyes. And now this?” She decided to lie back down, turned over, and covered her head with the blanket to go back to sleep.
She thought it was better to let Ingrid throw things since she would clean them up the following morning.
The other two maids, expecting this situation, had already taken leave from Evelyn. One claimed back pain and needed to visit the hospital, while the other said she had to look after her grandchild.
So, when Ingrid stormed out of the bedroom hair disheveled and ready to lose her temper, she was shocked to find the mansion empty. There wasn’t a soul in sight.
After pausing for two seconds, she yelled, “Eleanor! Martha! Where is everyone? I want gourmet honey. My stomach hurts…”
When her usual tactics proved ineffective, Ingrid finally quieted down.
