If the doctor tells you that you are pregnant, what is the first thought in your mind?

“You are pregnant, congratulations,” Richard told me with a smile. “But the question how did that get there?” he asked.

Everyone knows I have been so busy with money making that I have not had time for dating. So good question: how did it get here?

“I don’t know,” I say honestly. “Are you sure?” I ask doubting that the results were correct, maybe it had mixed up with someone else’s own.

“Yes Rach,” he said, rolling his eyes.

“Thank you, Rich,” I say, making my way out. First thoughts: I’m pregnant. I’m fucking pregnant. God save me.

I pick up my phone with shaky hands and dial up Noah’s number. This is the property of Nô-velDrama.Org.

“Hello,” he said after he picked up.

“Hello,” I said but my voice was shaky and strained. I clear my throat and try again. “Hello,” I say more audibly than before.

“Rachael,” he said. Well someone seems to be having a good day already. Wait till you hear that you will soon be a father.

“Noah, I need to see you,” I said and that came out wrong.

“Wow, someone is missing me and I think that has to do with how handsome I am,” he said.

“Noah it’s urgent,” I say.

“Like how urgent?” he asked calmly and I could sense that he already knew something was up.

“Like in the times of Noah in the Bible flood,” I say and he makes a confused sound.

“What?” he asked and I would have laughed if I was in a good mood but I just received news I don’t wish to hear now.

“Please just come to that frozen yogurt place,” I say, picking a place for our meeting.

“That is halfway across town” he whines and I roll my eyes.

“Pick a place then,” I say annoyance surging through my veins.

“Montrezella pizza place,” he said referring to the pizza place a few blocks from the industrial area. I have to drive halfway across town to see him but I don’t mind.

“Okay then see you,” I say waiting for his reply, and when he doesn’t I take the phone slowly away from my ear and hang up.

What should I say to him? ‘Hey Noah, we slept together and now I’m pregnant’? ‘Noah we are strangers to each other and we just made a child’? I’m so confused.

I drive to the place and enter inside. It’s buzzing with people and it is already lunch break and all the workers are out for their lunches.

“What can I get you?” a waiter says when I take my seat at the far corner of the room.

“Just water,” I say and he nods before taking my order to the back.

I scan through the restaurant and then the bells at the door ring or chime or whatever it is. And I look up to see Noah in a suit. He looks around the cafe. I see his eyes dart everywhere and he looks so uncomfortable here.

He suggested the place right? He looks towards me and his eyes roam over me and then come back and finally land on me. He smiles a little and then starts making his way to me.

“Hey,” he said, undoing a button from his black suit so he could sit well. His lips were in a heartwarming smile and his green eyes darted around the room. His dark blonde hair is slightly disheveled.

“Hey,” I say, forcing myself to have a normal conversation.

“Have you ordered?” he asked.

“No,” I say shortly.

“Let’s do so,” he said, raising his hand to signal the waiter and he came closer. “We would like to order now,” he said and the waiter nodded, taking out his notepad.

“What would you like to have?” the waiter asked with his voice so low and respectful.

“I will have today’s special” Noah said to the boy and he scribbled that down and turned to me.

“Can I get a fruit smoothie?” I ask and he nods. “Well then berries please,” I say and he writes down on his paper.

“Anything else,” he asks. I turn to Noah and he shakes his head.

“No thank you,” I said and the waiter walked away.

Noah poured himself some water into a glass and took a sip from it.

“What was so urgent?” he asked, rolling his eyes. “If you had said you missed me I would have come to see you anyway. You didn’t have to make up an emergency” he continued.

He thinks I have time to lazy around so that I will make myself a nuisance and create fake emergencies?

“Let’s wait for the food,” I say shortly while also taking a sip of my water.

The waiter dropped a bigger and some fries by the side with some ketchup and mustard and finally my berries smoothies before leaving us.

I take a sip of the smoothie and bask in the taste. My favorite in the world.

“Noah,” I say catching his attention as he was really engrossed in his meal.

“Yeah,” he said with his mouth still full.

“Please don’t talk with a full mouth,” I say and then add within me. ‘I don’t think babies like that’

“Speak up,” he said, taking a fry to his mouth again.

“Yesterday I was ill when I woke up” I began and he cut me off.

“Have you been to a doctor? Are you feeling alright now? Have you taken your meds? You aren’t well and you are taking just a smoothie? Do you want me to order something extra for you?” he babbled away.

“I’m fine,” I say, calming him down. “I’m coming from the hospital and we’ll tell you that I’m -” I stop to catch a breath.

“You are what?” he asked. “You don’t have a terminal disease right?” he asked bluntly.

“I’m pregnant” I blurted and the fry going to his mouth fell back on the plate.
