Chapter 30
“This is truly amazing. I’ve witnessed something new today. What an eye–opener!”
All at once, the crowd was abuzz with praise.
The item had also drawn Wilbur’s attention. He put down his food and concentrated his spiritual energy, beginning to investigate.
Just then, John and the others were looking at the incense holder rather intensely, sensing its mysterious aura with solemn expressions.
A while later, John said in a deep voice, “Master Jose, how are you going to go about this?”
Master Jose smiled. “Let’s have an auction. I’ve heard that this club is a pretty good auction hall in Seechertown.”
Just then, Mike piped up. “That’s right. Leave the auction up to me, Master Jose.”
“What’s the starting price?” John asked.
Master Jose pondered for a while before saying slowly, To tell the truth, this thing isn’t of much importance to me. However, it’s definitely a precious treasure to ordinary people. I’ll put the starting price at fifty million dollars.”
The businessmen present heard the price and hesitated. The price was not that high, but they still had their doubts.
After all, they were basing everything solely on Master Jose’s claims. None of them were sure if that was as good as he claimed it to be.
Master Jose saw the looks on everyone’s faces and said, “Ladies and gentlemen, you don’t have to bid if you don’t believe what I said. Il be able to sell it somewhere else anyways. I don’t need to make things up.
Mike smiled and said, “Master Jose’s right. He’s extremely well–respected in Stricton Province. You guys have nothing to worry about.”
Just then, John said calmly, “Well, let’s get started, then.”
Mike nodded and clapped his hands. Two girls clad in red skin–tight dresses came up at once. They lifted the box and carried it to the podium in the hall.
A beautiful middle–aged lady clad in a red floral dress and white gloves walked up to the podium. She smiled at everyone and greeted, “Hello, everyone. I’m the auctioneer here, Jolene Carrey. We’ll begin auctioning Master Jose’s item right now. The starting price is fifty million dollars, and the price will be raised by a million dollars with each bid. Let the auction begin.”
“Fifty–one million.”
“Fifty–two million.”
“Fifty–three million.”
The bids continued and the price raised steadily, but John and the other two people at the table did not participate in the bid. All they did was watch on silently.
As the auction went on, some bigwig could not help it anymore and called out a price of eighty million. Those who had submitted their bids earlier began to hesitate.
Just then, John shouted, “Ninety million.”
“One hundred million,” another guy called out.
“One hundred and one million.”
John glanced at the last bidder and uttered with a smile, “One hundred and two million.”
Just then, a peal of laughter sounded.
Everyone looked over at once and saw a young man sitting in the corner. He was wearing very plain clothes with a smile.
Mike blew his fuse at once. “What are you doing here, you b*stard? Get out of here now!”
“I’m sorry, the show was so good that I forgot to leave.” Wilbur could hardly hide his amusement.
Mike was about to speak when another guy stopped him. “Why are you laughing, young man?”
Wilbur sighed. “I’m sorry, but I couldn’t hold back any longer after seeing you guys bid so enthusiastically over some garbage.” Têxt belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.
“What do you mean by that, huh?” Master Jose was outraged, standing up and shouting at him.
