Chapter 59
Gerard saw Wilbur and hurried over to bow to him. “Gerard Torrent, at your service, sir.”
Wilbur waved a hand. “Don’t worry about it.”
“Did Will offend you, sir? I’ll be sure to punish him,” Gerard said.
Wilbur frowned. “It wasn’t anything too bad, so there’s no need to make a big deal out of it.”
“Will, get over here and apologize,” Gerard said sharply.
Will walked over, apologizing officially. Wilbur got to his feet. “I said it was just a misunderstanding. I accept your apology. 1 just want this to be over.”
Wilbur did not want this to drag on and delay his cultivation schedule.
Gerard finally stopped worrying after Wilbur stated that he did not want to dwell on this any further. He then tumed to his son. “Get me a card.”
Will understood what his father meant and scrambled to take out a golden card before passing it to Gerard.
Gerard took the card and passed it to Wilbur with both hands. “Sir, the Torrent clan has a good number of restaurants and entertainment places in Seechertown. This card will grant you unlimited access to any of our establishments without having to pay a single cent. Please accept it.”
Of course, Wilbur wasn’t going to say no to something like that. “Oh. Thank you, then.”
With that, he took Nancy along and left.
Will and Gerard walked them all the way to the door, bowing deeply until Wilbur and Nancy were out of their line of sight.
Gerard let out a long breath, looking at his son as he shook his head. “You almost screwed us over big time there.”
“Dad, I really didn’t know! I’d never have done that if I did.” From NôvelDrama.Org.
Will was indignant as well. Had he known that Wilbur was that powerful, nothing in the world would have given him the courage to mess with Wilbur.
Gerard let out a long sigh. “Seechertown’s about to change real soon. We’ve got to move carefully in the future, you know.”
“I know, Dad,” Will said meekly.
Wilbur and Nancy realized that their classmates had all left and made their way to the parking lot.
“Did you drive? Wilbur asked.
Nancy shook her head with a smile. “I can’t afford a car.”
“I can send you. Where do you want to go?”
“That works.”
The pair got in Wilbur’s car. “Where do you live?”
“Greenyear Apartment. It’s up north,”
Wilbur nodded and set out for the place.
He did not know what to say during the journey and thus remained silent.
A while later, Nancy spoke up.
“What do you really do for your work, Wilbur?”
Wilbur knew that he could not avoid the question anymore, so he replied, “My Identity’s a little… special. It’s not the best time to tell you right now. Can you keep this a secret?”
Nancy smiled. “Of course. You seem like you’re quite powerful.”
Wilbur smiled. “I’m alright.”
“I remember you were always quiet in school, and you disappeared after junior high. It seems like you went through a lot in those years.”
“yes, I did go through a lot. Honestly, I miss those years in school the most,” Wilbur said.
