Chapter 680: Let's See How Capable This Good-For-Nothing Really Is
Leo was so angry he wanted to kick again, but given his age, even a slap had drained much of his energy, so he could only sit back down on the sofa.
"Don't play dumb with me. It was fine when you were making small amounts of money here and there since it wasn't anything important. But now, you even dare to meddle in matters of the X Bureau! You must really be bold! Do you know why I introduced Grace to Everett and Tina?"
Boris silently stood up, his head bowed, not daring to meet Leo's eyes. Leo took a breath, "I wanted Everett and Tina to keep an eye on this woman! A criminal, yet she managed to get close to the X Bureau, a stranger who knows all my preferences-Boris, you really think I'm senile, don't you?"
"You think you can just send Grace into the X Bureau on your own? I ordered it because I wanted to keep her under control within the X Bureau!"
"But I underestimated you; you interfered with my liaison with the X Bureau and used my name to send Grace, who had erred, back again. If it weren't for Jared telling me earlier, I wouldn't have believed it! Do you realize the gravity of Grace's crimes?"
Boris frowned, still defiant, "Dad, why do you believe everything Jared says?"
"If I didn't have proof, would I be questioning you today?"
Leo slammed the documents from the table onto Boris's face. After Jared left a few days ago, Leo had quietly begun his investigation and found out that it was indeed Boris who had saved Grace, which almost triggered his heart condition. He had thought his son was just being foolish, but it turned out to be utter stupidity! Stupidity to the core!
"Let me tell you, Boris, if you continue to act under my name, you're out! I can't understand how the Pace family could produce such a good-for-nothing!" Leo, unable to hold his tongue in his anger, turned and went back to his room. Boris stood still, the pain on his face a constant reminder of his humiliation. Fine, he was the good-for-nothing of the Pace family. Let's see just how capable this good-for-nothing really is! Tina arrived at headquarters where all the chiefs, including Lysander, were assembled.
"Tina, all transport arrangements are set, and our people are keeping a tight watch, ready to strike at any moment," said Lysander. Tina looked at the tablet displaying red dots, all of which were Mountain Veil Order signals placed at strategic locations.NôvelDrama.Org exclusive content.
"Good, wait for my word. After we find Philip and Griffin, we'll capture them all in one fell swoop!" Everyone responded, "Yes!" Just then, Tina's phone rang. It was Nathan.
"It's bad, Mr. Farrell has been taken by the X Bureau!" Tina was shocked, "What happened?"
"Leo was suddenly rushed to the hospital this morning with a sudden heart attack, still in the ER. According to Boris, it was caused by a tonic Mr. Farrell had sent, which has been found to contain a new type of drug, Old Kris, seized from the Hancock family!" Tina's brow furrowed, her whole body suddenly tense with anger, as if a cold front had descended! "I understand."
After hanging up the phone, Tina, with a grim face, told everyone, "Be ready to storm the jail!" At the hospital, Boris was crying his eyes out at the ER door.
"Doctor, please save my dad, he must not have any trouble!" Boris pleaded between sobs, almost kneeling to the doctors.
"Mr. Pace, rest assured, we will do our utmost," they replied.
Linden, Christopher, and others hurried over.
"What exactly happened?"
they asked.
Boris wiped his tears and said, "Ask Jared why he would poison my dad! Haven't you interrogated him?"
"Don't worry, if it really was Jared, we will not let him get away with it," Christopher replied, furrowing his brow.

"But Mr. Pace, considering the stringent checks one must go through to enter the Pace family, how could Jared possibly bring in such obvious drugs?"
Christopher was highly skeptical; it might be possible for Jared to poison him, but poisoning Leo was out of the question!
Leo was the person Jared admired most; it was impossible for him to harm him!
Angered, Boris retorted, "What are you implying? Are you suggesting I poisoned my own father just to frame Jared? I know you X Bureau people are close to Jared, but with such an incident, do you only want to protect him?"
Upon hearing this, Linden responded discontentedly, "Mr. Pace, you can't just say things like that. Jared is currently under our control, and the investigation is ongoing. It's too early to draw conclusions. We should just wait for the results. If it turns out to be Jared, we certainly won't overlook it, but if it's someone else, we won't wrong them either."
Boris did not want to escalate the situation further and said no more.
Linden and Christopher exchanged glances and silently sat down in front of the emergency room, waiting for the doctor to come out.
Soon after, the lights in the emergency room went off, and the doctor wheeled out an unconscious Leo, transferring him directly to the ICU.
"Though his life is saved, it's still uncertain when he will wake up. We will do our best," the doctor announced.
Boris crouched on the ground, covering his face in agony.
Just then, a deep voice called from behind, "Boris."
Startled, Boris, Linden, and Christopher turned their heads in surprise.
Behind them stood a well-built man in a suit, wearing gold-rimmed glasses, his hair neatly combed, his gaze intense and carrying an air of authority that warned strangers to keep their distance. Boris stood up and took a few steps forward.
"Edwin, you're back!"
The man was Boris's younger brother, the third Pace son, Edwin!
Christopher clicked his tongue, realizing why the man looked familiar-it was Edwin, the diplomat almost daily seen on TV, known throughout the X Bureau for his speeches.
Christopher had encountered a few international conflicts during his frontline days, all personally attended by Edwin.
Linden couldn't help but exclaim, admiring someone who dealt regularly with top officials; just his presence demanded respect, a stature Boris could not match.
Edwin approached and took Boris's arm.
"What happened to dad? He was fine when I called yesterday, how could he suddenly become so ill today?"
"It's all Jared's doing; he poisoned Dad! And to think Dad wanted to make him his successor. He really misjudged him," Boris cursed bitterly.
