Chapter 95
Melina couldn’t resist turning to look at Andrew too. She’d blurted those things out in the heat of the moment, and truth be told, she regretted doing so immediately after.
Andrew wasn’t hers. In fact, he cared more about Linda than her. Plus, he once said he wanted to keep the marriage a secret. She shouldn’t have mentioned it.
Yet, when Linda questioned him about it, he readily admitted to it. What was he thinking? Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
The Wentworths were even more dumbstruck. Joseph and his wife, Ashlyn, exchanged calculating looks, while Celine almost broke the new bracelet she was wearing. They all assumed they would get to witness a catfight between Melina and Linda. After all, Linda was the only woman who got to hang around Andre in the last few years.
Who would’ve thought that the outcome would be this simple?
Even Wallace’s brows jumped a little.
As for Linda, she felt like her world had come crashing down. What little hope she’d conjured up earlier instantly crumbled. She thought she still had a chance. She thought Melina was just a maid. Never would she have expected Melina to be his
wife.
This was the cruelest joke life played on her.
What about her then? What should she do after wasting five years of her life givin everything she had to Andrew as she waited for him to reciprocate? All of the Wentworths were eyeing her now. She’d become a laughingstock.
“Why?” Linda screamed sharply. “Tell me why, Andrew! I’ve been waiting for you all these years. I love you so much! I don’t believe that you don’t feel anything for me!”
“Why not?” Andrew questioned nonchalantly. “Right from the very beginning, I said. that I would never love anyone.”
Andrew had never given Linda any hope of her feelings being reciprocated. He’d made it clear he would never love another person, not even Linda. At most, he would show some concern for her health and provide the Thompsons with some benefits. That was all.
Linda knew that very well, but that only added to her despair. Amid her anguish, she began to feel infuriated. Thus, she cast everything aside and shrieked, “It doesn’t matter if you don’t love me! Marry me, Andrew. Since you don’t mind marrying
Melina, you can get a divorce and marry me instead!”
This time, Melina didn’t interrupt them. If Andrew wanted a divorce so that he could marry Linda, she would agree to it.
To her, Andrew felt like a black hole that lured her in. If she stuck around for too long, she would fall into it someday. It was better to cut things off before she did.
However, Andrew uttered icily, “How dare you order me around, Linda? Tomorrow, I’ll arrange for you to go abroad for your recuperation.”
It was an outright rejection that made Linda wobble on her feet. She started having difficulty breathing, as if her condition was acting up again.
“Get the family doctor over here,” Andrew said indifferently. The Wentworths‘ family doctor had checked on Linda many times now and knew her condition well, so she didn’t even need to be sent to the hospital.
Seeing this, everyone thought Andrew had a heart of stone. Linda had remained by his side for five years, but he didn’t seem to show even the slightest bit of compassion for her.
Melina also came to the realization that Andrew truly didn’t love anyone, but she didn’t dwell on these things. All she wanted was to get him out of there. Love, relationships, and marriage were all far less important than one’s health, and he was still burning up.
She was just about to lead Andrew away when Linda rushed over and hugged Andrew from behind.
“Don’t abandon me, Andrew,” she pleaded pathetically. “Please, I’m begging you. Don’t leave me… I can’t live without you. I really can’t.”
