Chapter 586 The Two of Us
Chapter 586 The Two of Us
Clarissa was pregnant again? When had she gotten pregnant? Had she gotten pregnant during her
argument with Damien, or after? If she was really pregnant, did it mean that Clarissa’s
misunderstanding with Damien would be overlooked?
Chanel had finally gotten to this stage after so much difficulty! She couldn’t allow her efforts to be in
vain.
That night, Chanel sent Clarissa a Whatsapp message.
Chanel: [Hi, Clarissa. I heard you’re pregnant.]
Clarissa: [Wow, news really spreads fast.]
Chanel: [I heard about it from Lisa and Rem at the canteen. I didn’t know if it was true or not, so I
thought to ask you.]
Clarissa: [It’s true. I’ve been feeling under the weather lately. Kept staying at home.]
Chanel: [Can I go see you on Saturday?]
Clarissa: [That’d be nice. I’m really bored at home.]
Clarissa knew Chanel would definitely come and visit her. The latter would then twist and alter what
she learned from Clarissa, and then pass on the wrong information to Damien.
That Saturday, Clarissa tidied up a little and waited for Chanel to arrive.
The doorbell rang, signaling the awaited moment.
Clarissa got up to open the door. In Chanel’s hands were bags of various sizes.
“These are all for you. There’s a lot of things a pregnant woman needs to consider, so I bought you a
lot of prenatal stuff,” Chanel explained, her tone gentle and saintly.
“Oh, you shouldn’t have! Chanel, you really didn’t need to do that.” Clarissa was dressed in house
clothes. She went to get Chanel a drink and some fruits.
Entering the house, Chanel saw an elegant middle-aged woman sitting on a lounge to the side.
“Is this your mother?” Chanel asked nonchalantly.
“Ah, yes. I brought her back from Lotharia,” Clarissa answered, her brows drawn together.
Clarissa was frowning because she had told Chanel about her mother, Theresa Hale, had committed
suicide back in Emmeria. Yet now, Chanel was asking her if Mildred was her mother. It was evident that
Chanel already knew about her deep-rooted family issues.
How had she found out? Had Damien told her?
If Damien had told her, then it would’ve happened after the two married. It would’ve been recent. But
then, who had been the perpetrator of the fiasco at Joseph’s wedding?
Had it been Chanel as well? This is property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
The disgust Clarissa had for Chanel increased tenfold. She was indeed revolting.
“Your mother’s so pretty,” Chanel praised.
“Yes, she used to be an actress back in the day,” Clarissa said. She had picked her words on purpose
to lead Chanel on.
Most people who heard this would respond with “Really?” or “No wonder!” Chanel, however, only said
curtly, “Right.”
Clarissa was even more sure that Chanel already knew about her background. That left another
question: how had Chanel found out?
Chanel wasn’t actually here for Mildred, so she went back to her original point. “Anyway, Clarissa, how
does it feel to be pregnant again?”
“It’s not too great. I feel terrible and nauseated all the time. My tummy hurts,” Clarissa said.
“Is the baby… Damien’s?” Chanel finally asked.
“Here. Have some water, Chanel.” Clarissa purposely ignored the question to try and manipulate
Chanel.
“Clarissa… I know we’ve had our differences back in Florin. It’s only because we’re close that we have
so much conflict. Now that you’re back in Genovia, I realize how much I miss you. The baby is probably
Damien’s. You two fought, and now, Damien married me. I should be standing on your side over this,
but for once, I’ll be selfish for once. After all, I’ve been in love with Damien since high school. Of course
I’d accept it when he said he wanted to get our marriage registered!” Seeing that Clarissa wasn’t
answering, Chanel purposely repeated her words. “Now that I’m Damien’s wife, the two of us should be
responsible for you and take care of you since you’re pregnant. Isn’t that right?”
The words “the two of us” hurt Clarissa deeply.
Clarissa gritted her teeth and said, “Chanel, you don’t have to take on such a big burden. Actually, this
baby…”
“What about the baby?” Chanel asked, anxious.
