Love In Twilight By Tiny Mountains Chapter 416
Chapter 416 Neil, Don’t Talk To Strangers After informing Eden Investment that she wouldn’t be
attending the meeting, Clarissa stayed at home and spent her free time writing her article and
conducting lessons for her students. Life was good. Recently, she was even thinking about participating
in a global research project to fill up her resume. By then, she would definitely be promoted to a
professor in a short period of time. At the same time, she could use her experiences to give her
postgraduate students some valuable insight and career advice. However, she felt dejected right after
reading the books Grandpa had written.
She missed Grandpa dearly.
She wanted to pay a visit to Grandpa’s place, but she didn’t have the key to enter. Still, it wasn’t a bad
idea to look at the house from the outside.
After she had a simple meal at the school cafeteria, she walked to Grandpa’s house as a form of
exercise.
Grandpa’s house was just a stone’s throw away from the university.
Wearing a one–piece linen dress, her outfit matched the vibes of autumn as her tall figure gave her a
unique look. Before heading out, she braided her hair and placed it on the side of her chest. Her entire
look was simple yet stylish.
Standing in front of Grandpa‘s house, memories of the past flooded her mind. A few years ago, she
was here enjoying homemade spaghetti with Grandpa while discussing some scholarly topics with him.
She stood at the entrance for a long time.
Deep down, she hoped Grandpa would walk outside the door and welcome her with a pleasant
surprise. However, she knew it would never happen. Just as Clarissa was about to leave with a heavy
heart, someone opened the door.
At first, Clarissa was shocked. Surprise turned into fear as she wondered, ‘Did someone break into
Grandpa’s house?’ A young boy dressed in prim and proper attire appeared in front of Clarissa. He
stared at Clarissa cautiously with his big eyes.
They locked gazes for a while before Neil broke the silence, “Hello! Who are you looking for?” the boy
asked Clarissa innocently.
“...” Clarissa thought, ‘Did someone move into Grandpa’s house?’ “Neil, who are you talking to?” Right
at this moment, someone called out to him.
That voice sounded unbelievably familiar. Clarissa could recognize that voice wherever she went.
The door, which was left ajar, was swung open instantly as the sudden wind blew at her forehead and
ruffled her dress. She narrowed her eyes before opening them instantly after.
That was when she saw Damien.
Damien stared right back at her, silent.
Clarissa didn’t expect to be reunited with Damien without any form of warning. Content from NôvelDr(a)ma.Org.
Struck with disbelief, her heart almost stopped at the sight of Damien.
Damien looked at her with a complicated expression. Coming back to her senses, Clarissa was sure
she heard the name ‘Neil‘ just now.
“Is this Neil?‘ she thought.
She couldn‘t believe her son had grown into such a handsome little boy. Overwhelmed with emotions,
she knelt down and held both of Neil’s arms, but she couldn‘t seem to say anything to him. “Neil, don‘t
talk to strangers,” Damien spat sarcastically. Upon hearing Damien‘s remark, Clarissa felt as though he
had splashed a bucket of cold water on her face.
All of a sudden, guilt and disappointment engulfed her whole. She was guilty because she couldn‘t
raise her own child, and was disappointed in Damien for what he did to her in the
past.
All these years, she wasn’t in any part of Neil‘s upbringing. She had never asked about Neil in any way,
and she didn‘t even know what he looked like. The only thing she cared about these three years was
her academics and career. “Daddy, don‘t say that. She‘s such a pretty lady!” Neil looked up and stared
into Damien’s eyes. In Neil‘s eyes, Damien looked like he was about to gobble up the pretty lady The
word ‘stranger‘ left Clarissa writhing in agony.
She was not a stranger, but his mother. Although she was gently clasping Neil‘s arms, she couldn‘t get
herself to say anything as she tried hard to suppress the tears. If she burst into tears right now, three
years of separation would’ve gone to waste. “Miss, we‘re off to have dinner now. Are you here to see
Daddy?” Caleb asked sweetly. “No, I came to the wrong house. I‘ll leave now. Goodbye.” Then,
Clarissa turned to leave reluctantly.
