Chapter 14: Don’t Play by Unspoken Rules

Phoebe glanced at me indifferently before turning to look at Leonard affectionately. It seemed that she

was trying to show off their relationship in front of me.

So she was going to treat me as if I was nonexistent?

There was no way I would allow that!

As she turned, I stuck out a foot and stepped on the hem of her wedding gown.

She had been in a hurry to get away from me and the momentum sent her flying towards the ground.

The employee who had been standing in front of her reached out to hold her, but it was too late.

...

Phoebe yelped in surprise and crashed to the floor. Her hair was all messed up, and her chest was

showing. She looked disheveled. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only

Leonard, who had been silent this whole time, finally lost his temper and said, "Queena, you're

challenging me!"

He got up, probably to teach me a lesson, but I was prepared. How could I possibly allow myself to get

caught so easily?

Seeing that things were going south, I fled. Leonard did not give chase because he had to attend to

Phoebe.

When I got to the entrance of the shop, I turned back and said in a provoking manner, "This is what you

get when you've angered me. Don't think that I'm a pushover!"

"Queena, don't you dare run!" Leonard helped Phoebe up before roaring at me.

Did he expect me to listen to him? Only a fool would stay put!

Before Leonard could come after me, I ran out of the bridal shop and jumped into my car, which was

parked nearby.

After starting the car, I turned on some upbeat music, a trace of exhilaration running through me from

my revenge.

However, how could such a small punishment compare to everything that the Jones family had done to

me and my mother?

I started to hatch another plan, one to completely ruin Leonard and Phoebe's wedding.

Instead of heading home, I went to the company. After all, I was holding the position of sales director. It

was inappropriate for me to always be out of the office.

After parking the car in the basement, I headed into the company. As I walked past the front desk, Lily,

the receptionist, greeted me.

"Miss. Jones, it's been a few days since you last came to the office. A client by the name of Austin

Smith came looking for you just this morning!"

"Oh, I took a few days off to attend to a personal matter. Did he say what he was here for?"

I was a little surprised. How had Austin managed to find out where I worked so quickly? What was he

up to?

"I think he mentioned something about a project that he wanted to work with us on and he specifically

named you to be the person in charge. You can probably ask Mr. Chow for more details. He's really

handsome, you know! I'm so jealous of you!" Lily said rather dreamily.

"Do you want me to introduce him to you? He studied overseas and is the person in charge of some

overseas investment firm's operations here. He's single, you know!" I said half-jokingly.

"Really?" Lily looked a little excited at my words, but she quickly became crestfallen. "Miss. Jones, I

think he's probably just interested in you."

"Well, just you wait! He's not the right guy for me, and I'm interested in someone else anyway," I said

nonchalantly.

"Well, if you put it that way, I'm going to take you seriously!"

"Sure!"

I smiled, left the front desk, and walked into the office. It was rather quiet as everybody was hard at

work. Nobody noticed my presence.
