“But I can’t offer you marriage.”
Samuel’s next words felt like a plunge off a cliff for Natasha, She stared at him in disbelief. “W–Why? But Sammy, you promised Peter..”
“I promised him I’d take care of you and nothing else.”
“Why did you get a divorce then?”
Natasha couldn’t believe it. She had never expected Samuel to say that.

On the way home, Natasha couldn’t hold back her tears and began crying in the backseat.
First, it started with soft sobs. Then, it became increasingly loud and uncontrollable weeping.
Brody tried to comfort Natasha but struggled with the task. His clumsy words only made her cry harder, and it was making him anxious Natasha asked with a heavy sob, “Does Samuel really like that woman?
“What?”
“I’m talking about Shelmaine.”
Brody hesitated, not daring to share gossip about Samael. So, he stammered and didn’t provide a clear answer.
“Just tell me honestly. While I was away, did Sammy and Shelmaine live happily? Did I ruin their happiness when I returned? Does Sammy hate me? Brody swallowed hard. “Ms. Green, I don’t think it’s as you imagine.”

Brody could only say, “I’m not sure. However, Mr. Hasting has never publicly acknowledged Ms. Clarke and hasn’t brought her to meet his family. Natasha already knew this. Even though she had been abroad during that period and had kept up with Samuel’s domestic activities, she’d only learned about the marriage last year, When she heard of this, she had contemplated self–harm. However, friends had stopped her. Then, Natasha summoned her courage and returned to see Samuel in the hopes of being with him.
Although he was now divorced, Shelmaine’s presence felt like a thorn in Natasha’s heart. It was an ever–present thom that she couldn’t remove unless shelmaine was far from Sameel’s life.

This put Brody in a difficult position. He knew who his boss was and who he served. He smiled awkwardly and said, “I know what to do. Rest assured, Ms. Green.”
