Chapter 6
It had been less than two weeks since Shelmaine’s divorce from Samuel
Shelmain thought about the timing–if she really was pregnant, it was likely from that night two months ago.
Two months ago, she had just returned from shopping with Isabelle, dressed in a dark teal dress that had perfectly hugged h
ther curv
curves.
Her dark hair and red lips made it impossible to look away, and by the end of that night, the dress had been ripped to shreds in Samuel’s hands
It was rare for him to be so impulsive, especially outside the bedroom. But that night, he had lost control.
Now, Shelmaine wasn’t sure if they had used protection that night.
But she didn’t have time to go to the hospital.
Early the next morning, she received a message from Felicity demanding compensation along with what she claimed were comparison images of the alleged plagiarism. She had even hired a lawyer and was threatening to sue her.
There was no doubt Natasha had a hand in this
The studio’s assistant, Dera Webb, panicked when she saw that they were bring sued. “Shelmaine, what should we do?
“I looked at the design, and there’s nothing wrong with it. It doesn’t look like we plagiarized at all. The only similarity is the color, but you can’t accuse someone of plagiarism just because of that, right?”
Shelmaine massaged her temples. It was clear that Felicity was targeting her. “Handle it the way we usually do
“But… I heard that Felicity’s husband isn’t someone to be messed with Isn’t this dangerous? Dara was fresh out of college, and it was understandable that she was scared. Shelmine reassured her, saying, “Don’t worry, they’re coming after me. You’ll be fine. If you’re scared, why don’t you take a few days off? Wait until this blows over before coming back to work ”
“But Shelmaine, can you handle everything on your own?
“I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about it. Besides, you’ve been working overtime a lot recently. Take this chance to rest.”Original from NôvelDrama.Org.
Dora was just an assistant and couldn’t really help with something like this. Besides, this was just Natasha targeting Shelmaine personally, and Shelmaine didn’t want to drag anyone else into it.
After sending Dura home, she called up Trevor McGrath to set up a meeting. He was a lawyer friend of one of her partners and also the studio’s legal advisor.
As much as she tried to appear calm, Shelmaine was anxious. When she told Trevor about what was happening, his expression grew sectos.
He seemed to know Felicity and warned Shelmaine, “If you can settle this peacefully, I’d advise you to do so. Felicity’s not someone to mess with.”
He was implying that it wasn’t worth making an enemy out of Felicity. If things escalated, it would only work against Shelmaine
Shelmine took a sip of water and bit her lip. “So, if this goes to court, do I have no chance of winning?
“You do, but when you consider the time and energy you’d have to spend, it’s not worth it. Especially since your opponent is Felicity. And with her husband’s connections. Trevor didn’t finish his sentence, but shelmaine understood what he meant.
The uncertainty weighed heavily on Shelmaine, but she didn’t want to let this slide. However, she didn’t want her personal issues to negatively affect the studio either. After the studio was the culmination of not just her efforts, but that of others as well.
“I understand. Thank you, Trevor.” As she finished speaking, a wave of nausea hit her again, and she felt even worse. “I’m sorry, Trevor, I need to use the restroom.” “Go ahead”
Shelmaine rushed to the restroom, unable to stop herself from puking.
In the mirror, she saw her pale, sickly face staring back at her. She turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on her face to calm berselt down
As she leaned against the wall for support, she stepped out of the restroom
However, it was only to bump into someone.
“Sorry” she automatically apologized.
But then, she looked up to see Samuel’s impossibly handsome face
Thelmaine love as a chill ran down her spine
