Easton's smugness waned as he looked at Athena in disbelief. Had Madelyn grown closer to Athena and Grace? That was impossible!
Last he remembered, Athena and Grace hated Madelyn's guts. He was the only one in the family who would take her side and whom she could rely on. What had changed while he was gone?
As questions clamored in his head, he couldn't help cutting a curious look at Madelyn. She used to cling to him whenever he was at the Miller residence, but now, she didn't even bother sparing him a glance. Athena bristled when she caught Easton staring at Madelyn. She snapped, "What are you gawking Madelyn for? Do you want your Uncle Andrew to skin you alive?"Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.
As it turned out, Madelyn had no feelings for Easton at all. Elena must have made it all up if Madelyn's indifference toward the young man. was any indication.
Grace had been quietly observing Easton and Madelyn as well. From the looks of it, Madelyn was not interested in Easton at all, which confirmed Grace's suspicion that Elena had lied to them.
Easton's expression turned stormy at Athena's warning. "Why should I have to move out?"
Athena glared at him viciously. "Madelyn will be staying here for a while, and it wouldn't be appropriate for you to be under the same. roof as her."
Easton's lips curved with a humorless smirk as a dark look flashed in his eyes. He knew
Athena had always favored Andrew but didn't think the bias would run so deep. He had planned on getting on Athena's good side after returning from abroad, yet he was being chased out of her residence.

He shot a begrudging look in Madelyn's direction, but he wisely kept his mouth shut in front of Athena.
When dinner was over, Athena had Ryan pack up Easton's belongings.
Madelyn was strolling in the yard while waiting for Andrew to return. Work had piled up while he was recovering from his injuries, and he needed to sort it out as quickly as possible. Just then, Easton's voice sounded from behind her. "Maddie."
She turned around and met his sad stare. She nearly snorted at the crestfallen look on his face, especially after all the disgusted looks and sneers he had given her at dinner.
"That's 'Madelyn' to you," she drawled with cool amusement. "In case you missed the memo, I'm your aunt now. Show me some respect."
"You're mad at me, aren't you? If this is about the incident with Elena, I can explain. Believe me, I didn't sleep with her," Easton said.
"As if I care. You've got a couple of loose screws you need to fix," Madelyn snapped. She didn't bother continuing the conversation with him as she turned and left. Easton never expected such cold indifference from her. If she were so sick
of seeing him, why had she insisted on staying at the Miller residence? He thought it had been because she wanted to stay with him, but the way she left him standing in the yard said otherwise.
He was convinced that she was not playing hard-to-get. Perhaps she knew what he was up to and had returned to foil his plans. But why would she do that? Was she trying to help Andrew?
As the thought crossed Easton's mind, his expression turned grim. His eyes shone dangerously as he ground out, "I never pegged you for the reckless type, Madelyn."
The word "reckless" struck a chord in Madelyn Chatur
and pinned Easton with a sharp, vicious look, but he welcomed it with a contemptuous smirk.
"I bet you don't know that the person who took those scandalous photos has been disposed of. His corpse lies somewhere in the wilderness now. Do you want to know how he died?" Easton continued. Madelyn wondered if he was referring to the man who secretly took. photos of her and Andrew embracing on the villa's doorstep.
Knowing Andrew's penchant for vengeance, she doubted he would let the man get away unscathed after the man snuck into Serenity Villa to take their photos. However, she didn't expect the man to suffer suc "So? It was his fault for crossing the wrong person. He deserved it," was all Madelyn said. She refused to let Easton come
between her and Andrew. If sabotaging her relationship was the best Easton could do, then he was no better than the small-minded Elena.
Just as Easton was about to say something, Andrew's car pulled up. Madelyn pretended as if Easton hadn't told her anything and bounded. up to her husband with a grin.
