Love’ss 38
Chapter 38
Easton couldn’t believe Madelyn could be so indifferent. She used to hate oppressive pricks, and even more so after Andrew forced her into marriage. However, it seemed her stance had changed, for she truly did not care about what happened to the man who snapped their photos.
“Darling, you’re late. Have you eaten? Shall I reheat some food for you?” Madelyn asked warmly.
“Thanks, darling, but I’m good.” Andrew scooped her up in his arms. before swiveling to fix his icy gaze on Easton. Even from this distance, Easton could feel the danger closing in on him.
As Andrew walked past Easton with Madelyn in his arms, Easton could feel the predatory dominance rolling off Andrew. It was out of primal fear and submission that he lowered his head. “Uncle Andrew.”
Andrew stopped in his tracks to look at Easton. His voice was hard and unyielding as he said, “I want you to move out and stay somewhere else for the next few days.”
“As you wish,” Easton replied, nodding out of deference.
Seeing this, Madelyn couldn’t help scoffing. What a loser. She must have been an idiot in her previous life to think a pathetic coward like Easton could stand his ground before Andrew. The man dared not even breathe in her husband’s presence, much less speak up against him.
Andrew carried Madelyn past the living room. Grace was helping Athena up the stairs when they spotted the sweet couple. They quickly tried to turn away as if to blend into the wall and furniture. Madelyn grew flustered when she saw Grace and Athena turning away from them to afford them some privacy. She clutched the front
of Andrew’s shirt and asked, “Darling we’re at the Miller résidence now. Can you be a little less… handsy?”
“Do you like it?” he countered.
“Yes.” She wasn’t about to lie and tell him no.
A smile tugged on Andrew’s lips as he carried her into the bedroom.
Seeing how lovey–dovey they were, Athena couldn’t help musing, “It’s so nice to be young and in love.”
Pleased by what she saw, Grace smiled as well. “I hope Maddie and Andrew will get pregnant soon. It’ll only make their relationship stronger.”
“Yes,” Athena replied with a nod. She was already thinking about getting someone to sage Serenity Villa in hopes that it would boost Madelyn’s fertility.
When Easton walked in and overheard Athena and Grace’s
conversation, bitterness coursed through him. He might not like Madelyn, but the idea of her becoming pregnant with Andrew’s child still left him feeling gutted.
Once they were in their bedroom, Madelyn caught a whiff of alcohol from Andrew’s shirt. Her angelic expression turned grave as she asked, “Did you drink?”
“No, but the others did. The scent probably rubbed off on me,” Andrew explained.
Madelyn was not convinced.This content © 2024 NôvelDrama.Org.
Andrew leaned down to kiss her, and she was soon robbed of breath. She could tell by his minty–fresh breath that he had not had a drop of alcohol.
Having proven his point, he pulled away after a while and asked, “Do you believe me now?”
“Yes.” She beamed at him. She had been worried that he would put business before his health. However, on second thought, she doubted anyone in Klago City would dare to force Andrew to drink during after- work gatherings.
Being at the Miller residence amplified Madelyn’s inhibitions that night. When she and Andrew had finished their business in the sheets, he murmured, “We’re going back to Serenity Villa tomorrow.”
She nuzzled into his embrace as she replied groggily, “No. We have to wait until after Grandma’s birthday celebration.”
Andrew had no idea why she was being so stubborn about this. He gazed down at the woman whom he had worn out and purred inquisitively, “Why do you insist on staying here, darling?”
Madelyn was drifting in and out of sleep at this point. Her words were slurred as she answered instinctively, “Because I can’t let that bastard trick Grandma into giving him her shares.”
