LEARNING HUMAN WAYS
They both walked slowly down the road without talking. Lucinda paused for a moment as they got to the highway; the road was extremely busy, and they had to cross it. Her body was shivering with every passing vehicle. All the fear left her when she saw a little child around the age of four trying to cross the road too. Her pupils expanded in amusement as she spotted the child; it was her first time seeing a human child. She ignored Medusa and ran to the child on the other side of the road.
"Hi there, little one, do you want to cross the road?" she asked the child, who just nodded his head and looked at Lucinda, who was overwhelmed with joy that she was talking to a mini human. "Alright, I will help you." Lucinda assured the child and carried him in her arms, trying to cross the road with him with a determined look on her face. Medusa just stared at them with wide eyes. The cars on the road did not stop for anyone, and the road became slightly clearer.
Lucinda quickly dashed into the road, trying to cross it with the child, when a car started approaching them. Lucinda panicked, still clutching the child, as she stood in the middle of the road with him and closed her eyes, terrified. The driver was a little confused about what was happening; he was trying to drive past them, but his brakes failed him. The child started sobbing as she looked at Lucinda, with sweat forming on his forehead.
"Oh shit!" Medusa yelled and ran over to them; she pulled them aside and dragged them out of the road to the other side.
"You are scared of cars, and you want to help this child!" Medusa snapped, taking the scared child away from Lucinda and putting him back on the floor; his eyes were soaked with tears.Content property of NôvelDra/ma.Org.
"Thank you for saving my life, aunt." The child told Medusa and ran away. Lucinda didn't care about what Medusa was saying; her eyes just followed the child.
"Who let such a cutie walk down the street alone? It's my first time seeing a child." She said smiling from ear to ear. The car that was about to hit them drove in their direction and stopped; the driver stuck his head out of the car, raising his hand at them. "Next time, watch where you are going crazy, lady!" he roared at them, glaring at Lucinda. Lucinda pursed her lips and tried to attack him, but Medusa held her back. The driver started his car and drove off. "Who does he think he is to speak to me that way? Does he know who I am?" Lucinda said she was enraged.
"Don't let him get to you. Humans tend to use offensive words sometimes." Medusa said she was patting Lucinda's hair to calm her down.
"I am easily annoyed; I always thought the earth was my dreamland, but these humans are all strange and abusive, it's getting on my nerves." she muttered.
"Calm down; you will get used to it very soon." Medusa assured her and held her hand, leading her down the road.
Minutes later
They arrived home and settled down; Medusa ordered food for them, and they both ate and went to bed. The day went by so quickly, and it was the next day. Lucinda felt energized when she awoke early. She stretched her muscles and headed to the bathroom.
She stripped naked and turned on the shower, then packed her hair in a stylish bun that left a small curl on her face and went to the closet, where she settled for a black suit that Medusa had chosen for her, saying it was the perfect outfit for an interview. She put it on and looked at herself in the mirror and sighed. "I look beautiful in everything." She muttered and headed to the bedroom. She went over to the bed and sat on the edge, tapping Medusa on the right arm. "Wake up, sleepy head; I am hungry," she said. Medusa growled and nudged her hand away.
"Go away, just dial 201 on the phone and order food yourself." Medusa replied with a scoff and continued sleeping. Lucinda took a deep breath and decided to do it herself. Lucinda's point of view
I walked over to the home phone and grabbed it. After going through it for a while, I dialed the number, and it started ringing on the other end. Humans are so fascinated and obsessed with technology, but it's a good thing. "Hello, good morning, miss." the person greeted.
"Whoa, good morning. I want food delivered to my room now." I stated.
"What is the name of the food you would like to order?"
"All the types of food you have." I said and hung up. Thinking of it, I don't know the name of any food. I feel like a newborn baby in this human world. I need a human to teach me their ways, but I haven't made any friends here; Medusa was my only friend. I was lost in a trance for a moment when suddenly the door was opened, and different people dressed in black uniforms started making their way into our house carrying different dishes on trays. I watched as they filled the table with different foods, but it was too much.
They even dropped some of them on the couch and left a small space for me to sit. They finished arranging the food, and one of them, who was holding a journal and a pen, walked up to me.
"That will be two thousand dollars, ma'am." She said, I couldn't help but gasp. I know that was a huge amount of money, but I needed to pay for it. Imagine having all this food all to myself.
"Wait a sec." I said and went to the closet I opened it and took out Medusa's purse and drew out a few dollar bills I went to the staff and handed it to her; she took it from me with a smile. "Thanks for the tip, ma'am." She smiled broadly at me and motioned for all of them to leave, and I wondered what "Tip." meant. Anyway, the food isn't gonna eat itself. I sat on the couch and started by tasting all the dishes before I started eating them. I finished eating a variety of human food. I was a little satisfied, so I left a small amount of food for Medusa and cleaned my mouth with the napkin the staff left for me.
She knew I had a big appetite, so she wouldn't mind if I left a small amount of food for her. I went back to her purse, took another dollar bill, and took one of the small bags we bought before walking out of the house. I shut the door behind me and ran down the stairs.
