Mafia King

Chapter 14

“Exactly! I can’t sit at home knowing there’ll be someone itching to have a night with you. You’re mine, amore. Mine! No stronzo is going to take you away from me.”

Somehow our faces managed to get closer and closer. I can see the emotions swirled in his clear eyes. My retort was meant to be a sarcastic joke. I didn’t think he felt that way.

My eyes were wide staring at him still in disbelief. Dante looked away and sighed. He took his liquor and gulped it down in one go. He signaled the bartender to add another one.

“Don’t stare at me like that, amore.” He didn’t look at me while speaking but he felt my eyes burning a hole to his head.

“Well… I just think you sounded desperate.” I joked. I was hiding my smile.

Dante’s eyes moved to glance at me. “I am desperate to fuck you.” A faint smirk painted his lips. I grinned at the thought that he’s finally back. We both chuckled afterwards.

“Kiss me, amore.” He suddenly said. His eyes were drunk and hooded. I doubt it was from the drink. He doesn’t look like he’d easily get drunk. My attention shifted down to his lips.

My phone’s vibration interrupted the moment. I swiped the green icon to answer the incoming call.

“Who’s the hot guy, Fleury?” I automatically searched the crowd for a certain brunette which I doubt I’d easily find among the huge crowd and dim light. “As far as I know, he’s my type, not yours.”

I laugh. “He’s a friend, Amy.” Taking a glance at Dante who’s been staring at me nonstop.

“He’s hot. You have my permission to not return to my side, Fleury. The girls and I will understand with the condition of course that you won’t be sleeping in your bed tonight.” I laugh again at Amy’s craziness. The drinks probably added to that. She made sure to sound serious but I could feel her smirk on the other line.

“Yes, ma’am.” Cause if I said no, she’ll find a way to convince me to agree so I’d rather say yes even though I completely won’t do it.

“One of your friends here?” Dante asked as soon as I put down my phone.

“You got what you wanted. I won’t be returning with them.” I said with a sigh. “Are your men here too?” I asked, suddenly curious. I tried to look around if they were here but obviously I don’t know their faces so I stopped.

He only hummed. “Can I ask you a question?” He raised a brow. “Can you tell me about your family?”

Dante only smirked and suddenly rose from his seat. I looked up to him questioningly. He offered his hand and I hesitantly took it. I followed him silently although I pretty much have the idea where we’re heading. It was the same place where the VIP rooms were but this room we’re in is the most expensive one judging by the high end design.

“I’d rather talk without the music blaring and the crowd.” He sat down on the sofa and I followed suit. Our hands were finally separated when he put his arm behind me while laying it on the backrest. Dante called for a waiter and ordered drinks and snacks for us.

“You not drunk yet?” I shook my head.

“You’re suddenly nice.” I narrowed my eyes at him in doubt. “You’re treating me like one of your ladies.”

“That’s because you are.” He was pouring his glass with scotch.

I scoffed. “Yeah, right.” I pause for a moment before saying. “You know, Dante, we can really be friends. You can trust me.” He was still before leaning his back against the seat.

“I already trust you, amore.” I raised a brow, not believing his words. “I don’t trust you with other people.”

“What?” I don’t understand him at all.

“You wanted to know about my family, right?” I rolled my eyes when I figured out he’s trying to change the topic.

“Yes.” I relented since I really did want to find out about his family, how he’s connected to the Ranallo. I’m going to bring the topic later on since he did make an effort to come here all the way just to keep an eye on me. “How did you end up being related to the Ranallo?”

I noticed we’re both relaxed right now. We really could be friends if only Dante trusts me and perhaps disregard the fact that he’s in the mafia.

“That’s because our grandparents were siblings. The Ranallo was already a prominent family since then. My grandmother was originally a Ranallo. She married a man who was head of the Di Angelo family and apparently a don.”

“I see. I can’t believe I know someone who’s this powerful.” I stated in amazement.

He shrugged. “Technically, Stefano is more powerful since he’s the eldest of the family. Right now, he’s probably handling the entire fortune of the Ranallo. But we do value family more than the assets. We’re not the same with others who’s always after the money or the inheritance. Our grandparents taught us to value our own blood rather than materials that you will never even bring in the next life. Because of that we don’t have any family drama. Instead we very much support each other.”

I looked at him in awe as he talked about his family. The Ranallos were a very famous family and very wealthy too. They’re very much high up in the ladder. Based on what Dante had said, they deserved it. When you have a very supportive family and filled with respect, you’re more than just successful.

I gave him a light smile. “You have a very wonderful family, Dante.” He returned my smile and we were engulfed in a comfortable silence before a question crossed my mind. “Are you happy with what you do?”

“I’m happy that I have people that I can love and care.” His eyes suddenly held glint of mischievousness. “You know our family is dominant with males. It’s in our genes to reproduce males. There’s only a little percentage that the women in our family will bear a female.”

I scrunch my eyebrows and nose. “And you’re telling me this exactly why?”

His eyebrows were wiggling, annoying the hell out of me. He had a roguish smirk. This kind of look of his was always up to something. “For future reference so you’d know what to expect while bearing my child.”

Oh my god.
