Chapter 3513 Allyson's Feelings
By midday, Allyson had rushed over upon hearing the news of Matthew's return. She even left the administrative duties at the Governor's Keep to Bram temporarily.
"Matteo!" Allyson called out, her long legs carrying her swiftly to the dock. Her excitement was evident as she waved at Matthew with a bright smile.
To Allyson, Matthew wasn't just her benefactor-he was also incredibly handsome. She'd even occasionally wondered if she'd put up much of a fight if Matthew ever tried something inappropriate. The small group gathered around the grill turned to look at Allyson as she approached.
"Governor, care to join us?" Matthew asked, standing up and pulling a chair over for her.
"I happen to be free right now. I'd love to join."
Meanwhile, back at the Governor's Keep, Bram sneezed unexpectedly. Glancing at the meal in front of him, he sighed. Forget it. I'll eat later.
Allyson sat obediently next to Matthew, her eyes locked on the grill in front of her. She barely moved as if afraid to break the moment.
Noticing the perfectly cooked meat on the grill, Matthew picked up a skewer and handed it to Allyson. "Here, it's ready. Everyone, dig in." Allyson took the skewer gingerly, her cheeks flushing with a faint blush. "Thank you."
Matthew smiled faintly. "No need for formalities, Governor. We're all friends here."noveldrama
Allyson hesitated for a moment before biting her lip in determination. "Since we're friends, don't call me Governor anymore. Just call me Allyson." Tertius and Mack exchanged subtle glances in response. Even these two unromantic men sensed the shift in the atmosphere.
Matthew nodded casually. "Alright, Allyson it is."
Tertius and Mack exchanged another look, this time with a touch of incredulity. Did Matteo really not pick up the strange atmosphere?
Hearing Matthew call her by name, Allyson beamed with joy. "Matteo, can you tell me about your past?"
Matthew's smile faltered, turning bitter. "There's not much to say about that."
Although he wasn't actively searching for Sasha anymore, worry for her still lingered deep in his heart.
Sensing Matthew's somber mood, Tertius nudged Mack with a skewer. For once, Mack understood immediately.
"Hahaha! Let me tell you all a story about my pastTM Mack interjected with a booming laugh, breaking the tension. "When I worked as a ranger on Tiger Hill, I used to wrestle with a tiger every other day. At first, we' were evenly matched. Over time, we'd trade wins and losses-it was like that tiger was using me as a punching bag!"
Matthew and Tertius glanced at Mack's hulking muscles skeptically. Was it really the tiger using him as a punching bag, or the other way around?
"Eventually, after enough fights, we
got to know each other. Sometimes, when she went hunting, she'd leave her cubs with me. When she came back, she'd share some of the meat with me," Mack continued, a wistful look in his eyes.
I wonder how they're doing now, he mused.
As Mack's storytelling brought the mood back to life, the group settled into the shade, enjoying the gentle rhythm of the ocean breeze.
For Matthew, who had been tense
ever since arriving at the West Montiria Islands, this moment offered a rare sense of relief.
Surrounded by Mack and the others, he finally allowed himself to relax, even if just a little.
What do you think?
