Chapter 49
Elara
I chuckle against his lips at his eagerness and continue the kiss. We are interrupted by the ringing of his phone. Zuriel cusses at the disruption,
‘I’ll turn it off,’
He put me on my feet. He grabs his phone from the table and stares at it a while longer.
‘Is everything okay?’ I ask.
He puts the phone to his ear, ‘Crawford,’
I listen to the conversation with my sharp senses.
‘Sir, we are sorry to disturb you. We have a problem,’ It is Lou speaking.
‘What is it?’ Zuriel sounds irritated.
‘It’s Miss River, Sir,’ my heart sinks. What is happened with her this time? I grab the bottle of Champagne and pour it in a glass, gulping the whole thing.
‘What is wrong with River,’ I hate the worry in his voice,
‘She was rushed to the hospital, Sir. She overdosed on her medication,’ Lou says.
‘We are coming,’ Zuriel says and ends the call.
‘She did this purpose to ruin our date,’ I mutter. Zuriel only exhales.
‘Let’s go,’
‘She’s with the doctors, Zuriel. Even if we go, there’s nothing we can do,’ I say, shrugging my shoulders and drinking champagne. I seem like a grueling bitch right now, but I’m almost sure she did it on purpose.Content is © by NôvelDrama.Org.
‘I worry about her. She’s in the situation because of me. Let’s go, or I’ll leave you here,’ Zuriel is serious now, slightly glaring at me. I gape but compose myself.
‘Then go. I’ll be alright,’ I averted my gaze. I crossed my arms against my chest stubbornly. Zuriel starts to leave, and I feel tears burn my eyes. My husband is leaving me for his ex-girlfriend. Zuriel is back suddenly, standing close to me.
‘I don’t want to leave you out here alone. Please, come with me,’
His tone is no longer hostile. I feel a tear escape my eye, and I wipe it quickly. He is shocked to see me cry.
‘I didn’t mean to hurt you, baby,’ he whispers, kissing my lips. My eyes light up when he called me baby despite being upset. Did he even realize it? He talks me into going with him. I take his hand. He leads me to his car. He opens the car door for me and gently buckles my seat belt.
Ara is still pissed about River overdosing. I sigh and decide to mind link Brandon. He can help me find out information about River as he is not only an excellent tracker, but a good investigator.
‘Hey, Brandon,’ I mind-link my best friend.
‘Hi, what’s up,’
‘I need your help,’ I tell him.
‘Anything,’
‘I want an investigation done on River. I want to know every detail about her,’

I was raging with anger. My wolf is getting weaker as our mate fucks that fucking man every damn time. I growl and curse when I feel the pain in my chest. Elara is very happy with life. I need to get her back. I don’t care who her husband is. My uncle enters the cottage, and as soon as his eyes find me, they well with sympathy. I don’t want his pity. I need to know what he has found out about my mate.
‘Where is she?’ I ask urgently. He hesitates a bit and gives me a black envelope. I open it slowly, and what I see there breaks my heart.
‘They are back from their honeymoon,’ Uncle sighs. He goes to the fridge and gets two bottles of beer. He turns on the TV.
The pictures in the envelope only upset me more. They are acting like a real couple, smiling and holding hands as they walk.
‘This is stupid.’
‘Not really. They are married,’ Uncle says. I glare at him, but he is not fazed. All this time, I was comforting myself that their wedding was only for show. They wanted to restore her reputation, which I had succeeded in ruining for a while.
‘This must be for show,’ I say.
‘They are happy, my nephew. You need to accept that girl’s rejection before they find you. You can live a happy life here,’ he says to me. I roll my eyes. I can’t live a happy life on the run. I’m an alpha to a large pack. I need to get Elara back. She is my mate.
‘I can’t be content on the run, Uncle,’ I sneer.
‘Her husband is Zuriel Crawford. He’s powerful and influential. He has men after you,’ he says. He looks worried. I remember the man I faced last time. He was strong. It is because of him that I’m almost blind in one eye.
I won’t let him take my eye and my mate. I need to go out there and find a way to get Elara. Hopefully, she will not cause a fuss and accept me back. I need to get my life back, even if I have to make things right with the Silvius. I’d have plenty of time for revenge later.
‘I need money. Lots of it from my pack,’ I tell my uncle. He only sighs and leans back on the couch. Even though he doesn’t support my actions, he does what I require him.
