Chapter 19
Then Mia realized it… she felt that strange feeling because her wolf was going to make her first appearance.
The crowd were shouting and booing in surprise and awe. Most of them haven’t seen someone shift and for Mia’s wolf, she looked very special.
Her fur was pure white and she looked big.
Alexander wasn’t left out in the surprise. He was shocked.
Harlow felt weak and could fall anytime. Mia’s system was kinda weak for her.
Lian, who just arrived few minutes earlier and saw the scene, rushed out of his car immediately. He quickly changed into his wolf form and ran towards the stage.
Being in his wolf form also caused an uproar among the students. It was very rare for their Alpha to appear in his wolf form.
“Lian?” Shane and Marlin mindlinked.
“I’m cool.. I’ll handle it.” Lian replied back, through the mind link.
Before Harlow could fall, he got to her and helped her get out of the people’s view. If Harlow shifted back to human form, Mia was practically going to be naked so he had to do something.
Some few female teachers, who were also werewolves, followed.
The night’s performance ended uncompleted, leaving so many people overwhelmed.
*** THE NEXT DAY
***THE NEXT DAY
Mia opened her eyes to see a strange environment. After looking around closely for a while, she realized it was an hotel.
Everything that happened the previous night came rushing into her mind and she let out a deep sigh. She was worried that she ruined the performance yesterday.
She sighted her phone on the drawal next to her bed and picked it up.
There were many missed calls. They were from Jabi and her parents. She decided to call Jabi first.
“Hey, I watched everything. How are you feeling now? I’m so happy for you babe. You finally met her… what’s her name? What is your ability?” Jabi didn’t a breathe escape her until she finished talking.
“Chill dude. I’m good and her name… it’s Harlow. And the ability… I don’t know yet” Mia replied calmly.
“Wow… very beautiful. She is even white and big… I’m jealous. She’s a little bit bigger than my wolf.” Jabi whined over the phone.
“Unbelievable…” Mia muttered.
“By the way, how are things over there? Things were kinda rough over here last night… but I guess Alpha Lian got it all sorted. And the scene… looked so much like that of a romance novel.” Jabi said.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
“Alpha Lian was like the male protagonist and you were the female protagonist. Judging from the way he approached you right before you fell, he was full of anxiety… just like when he brought you to the hospital the day you passed out due to a stomach pain.” Jabi said… in a very neutral tone.
“What?” Mia blurted. “What are you talking about?”
“You didn’t know? I saw him carry you in his hands, with solicitude written all over him. He left after confirming you were fine though.” Jabi explained.
Mia was perturbed. “I’ll call you later.. bye.” She said hurriedly and hung up on Jabi.
She let out few sighs out of regret… for concluding wrongly. She then dialed Lian’s number but he wasn’t picking. She tried it again and the response was the same.
Then she got up, intending to go in search of him.
As she opened the door to go out, she met him, standing right in front of the door. The two stared at each other for a while before getting it back again.
“You are awake.” Lian said, heading straight towards the water dispenser that was in the room.
After getting a cup of lukewarm water, he stretched the cup to her.
“Lian–”
“It’ll help you feel better.” He cut in.
Gently, Mia collected the glass of water and gulped it down. That was kinda refreshing.
It was silent for a while. Neither of them talked.
Lian broke the silence minutes later. “You need to be alone right? I’ll get going. Call me if you need anything.” He said and picked up his coat, getting ready to leave.
“How do you feel now?” She asked, making him halt his steps.
He looked lost. “I mean… you were in pain when I left the house yesterday. How do you feel now?”
“I’m fine. It’s nothing serious.” He said, and gave an half smile… an assuring one. He made an attempt to walk out of the room again.
“Is it because of me?” Mia asked, out of the blue. “Are you stressed because of me?” She asked, with a guilty looking expression.
Lian turned to her. “No… not at all.” He said… this time with a serious expression.
“I know it’s because of me!” She raised her voice a little. “You’re in pain because of me. You don’t sleep well this days, you get migraines frequently and–”
“Stop! Stop Mia… just stop.” He begged. “I’ll leave now.” He said calmly and walked out of the door for real, this time around.
A tear dropped from Mia’s eyes and it started raining just then.
She could see through her brother. She knew he was sick because of her but he’s trying to convince her that she’s not the cause.
“He’s still that nice guy that doesn’t trade blames.” She said admist sobs.
A knock came on the door and she had to stop crying immediately. She wiped her face clean and forced a smile on to pretend everything was fine to whoever was standing at the door.
One thing happened unnoticed to her though. The moment she stopped crying… the rain stopped.
Opening the door, Alexander came to the view. He was the least person she expected.
She was expecting to see an hotel staff or something.
“Am I that handsome? You look trance like.” He said, paving in way for himself.
“No.. it’s not that.” Mia replied, closing her door.
“Good thing you’re awake. I brought you some chicken sandwich.”
“Wow really? Thanks.” Mia smiled, settling down for the sandwiches.
“You do not need to thank me.” Alexander stated.
“By the way, the play didn’t end well yesterday… did it?” Mia asked, even after knowing the answer. She was just expecting to hear something positive even though she knew that wasn’t going to happen.
“Why ask? You know already.”
“Right… it didn’t end well. I’m sorry I ruined everything.. I didn’t see it coming.” She apologized.
Alexander’s gaze was fixed on her for some seconds.
“Is there something on my face?” Mia asked, looking bewildered.
“You’re so pretty… too pretty for a 17 year old.” He complimented, still staring at her.
Mia’s heart fluttered. What did that come from?
“How did you know I’m seventeen?” She asked, stuffing the sandwich into her mouth carefully.
“It’s not a secret.” Alexander retorted.
“That doesn’t mean–” Mia was interrupted by the creak of the door. The door opened wide, with Lian standing there.
Mia was surprised. Lian glowered at Alexander, who stared back with an amusing look. He didn’t even say his greetings.
“Lian, did you forget something?” Mia asked, getting up.
It took a while before he answered… as he was busy glaring at Alexander.
“Yeah… my car key.” He replied and walked to where he dropped it, then picked it up.
He didn’t say any more word before he left.
Just after he left, Alexander got up too. “I need to leave too. The campout party is still on, will you be able to come?”
“I can.” Mia said and smiled at him before he walked out of the door too.
Ughh… she felt a crazy mix of emotions the moment Lian cut in on them. It felt just like her boyfriend caught her with another guy.
…
Lian waited patiently for Alexander to come out.. which he did.
“Hey, stop there.” He commanded.
“Alpha Lian?” Alexander put on a surprised look. “I thought you left.”
“Why do you keep getting closer to Mia?” Lian went straight to the point. He wasn’t in the mood to beat around the bush.
“Why? Because I like her.” Alexander replied firmly.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
Lian scoffed. “And who gave you the permission to?”
“What? Do I need the permission to like someone?” Alexander kept replying Lian’s questions with questions… which infuriated Lian the more.
“Stay away from her… this is an order.” Lian said dreadfully.
