Chapter 36
Chapter thirty six
Several years back
“Thanks so much for the dinner, we enjoyed ourselves.” A young lady, Ivy said and flashed a smile. “Common Ivy, that was nothing.” Paige replied.
“‘Twas nice gathering together like this. We’ll be your hosts next time.” Lincoln said.
“Looking forward.” Paige and Grayson replied at the same time and they all laughed.
“We’ll take our leave now.” Lincoln announced calmly.
“Thanks for coming, alpha Lincoln, Luna Ivy and baby alpha Lian.” She tickled the cute and tiny baby Ivy was holding. Ivy chuckled. “He is so cute.” Paige commented.
“It’s getting late. You have to go now, drive safely.”
…. Few minutes later
“Honey, your phone is ringing.” Paige called out to her husband who was already dozing off beside her.
“It’s Lincoln.” He remarked before accepting the call.
“Hello, am I speaking to Mr. Grayson Torres?”
He frowned and checked the caller’s ID again. “Yes and you are?”
“A doctor from Peyton hospital. The owner of this phone and his family just got involved in a ghastly motor accident.”
Peyton hospital…
“I’m sorry to break this to you, but the couple died before we got to the scene.” The doctor said.
Paige wailed. Grayson’s knees grew weak and his legs trembled. He was a man and he had to act up.Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
“The baby in the car survived.” The doctor announced.
Paige’s eyes widened and she shared a confused look with her husband before turning to the doctor. “You mean… Lian survived?”
The doctor nodded. “Oh poor thing…” Paige started crying again.
**Few weeks later
Grayson, Lincoln’s beta was made the next alpha. He was to rule the school till baby Lian grew old enough to take over and then in the next three years, Grayson and Ivy had a baby girl, named… Mia.
*Present time*
“We are sorry for not telling you.” Grayson apologized sincerely. Paige was sobbing quietly in her seat.
Lian sniffed as tears rolled down his face. “I get it now. So, where is Mia?”
Paige stopped crying. “She didn’t come home.”
*Two weeks later
“Stay out of trouble Rosie.” Lian warned.
Rosie nodded. “I will. Lian, I’m sorry for everything I did. I’m so sorry. Tell Mia sorry for trying to come in between you two, I was being naive.”
Lian gave a gentle nod. “It’s alright.”
“Wait, have you found her?”
Lian sighed before replying. “Not yet.”
“I hope you do. And I hope I’ll be coming back for your wedding. Thank you once again, for saving me.” She said with a smile.
“Enough of the gratitude. You’ll miss your flight.”
As Lian drove towards Amelia’s pack, he tried to guess places where Mia could be staying but nothing came to his mind. As he watched the green, beautiful forest and flowers, some idea popped up in his mind and he abruptly made a U turn.
Without the safety backpack and hiking clothes, Lian climbed the mountains without taking stops. When he reached the peak, he looked around the forest below until he spotted a figure running through.
Without a second thought, he made his way down. He could perceive her scent and he traced her with it.
He sighted a figure backing him and he approached.
“Mia.” He uttered calmly. Mia shot the arrow to a far distance before turning around. She didn’t make to go to him and he didn’t walk up to her either.
“You found me.” She remarked, with a straight face.
“It wasn’t easy. Why did you leave?” Lian demanded. The two looked very serious.
“I had to clear my head and bring myself to accept the reality.”
“Have you?”
She nodded.
“Actually, we aren’t–”
“Granny Samara told me. She found me first.” She interrupted him, knowing what he was going to say.
“Why did hide here? No one’s going to reject you.”
“I have to learn how to be strong, in order to rule with my alpha.” She replied him calmly.
“You’re going to accept me?” Lian arched his brow. He didn’t expect it to be that easy.
“I don’t have to. You rejected me already.” She countered.
Lian was about to ask what she meant and then remembered he sent her a breakup letter on her birthday.
“I was only trying–”
“To protect me.” Mia finished it for him. “I knew you were going to say that. But it doesn’t justify the fact that you broke your promise to me. We promised to stay together Lian.” She raised her voice.
“I’m sorry.”
“You have a lot to be sorry for. Did you think I would survive if anything happened to you? Did you think I could live without you?” She didn’t realize tears were already flowing down her face.
“Do you know I scared I was when that oldie cut you with his sword? I thought you were going to die, Lian. And I swear I would’ve killed myself right after dealing with those rogues. Life without you is meaningless. It’s not lust I feel for you, it’s fucking love. I love you Lian, so stop taking me for a joke!” She cried.
Lian rushed over to her and pulled her into a hug. She wanted to jerk away and hit him hard in the chest but he didn’t give room for it as he held her tightly. He kissed her hair.
“I’m sorry for hurting you sweetie. I didn’t mean to. I’m so sorry.”
Mia’s tears soaked his chest but he didn’t care. After crying for several minutes, she pulled out of his embrace and looked into his eyes.
“I’ll kill you if you ever think of leaving me. I promise.”
Lian smiled. “It won’t happen. Ever again.” He declared and leaned in. His mouth touched hers. His teeth caught her lower lip and gently tugged on it. His mouth opened over hers, taking absolute possession. His tongue swept inside to lazily mate with hers and he took his time savoring her taste. Mia buried her fingers in his hair and kissed him back, shaking him to the core.
They stopped after some minutes. Lian tugged her hair behind her ears and stroked it gently. Staring into her eyes, he said,
“I love you too, Mia.”
