Mission: From Divorcee to Millionaire

Chapter 387

He had poured his heart and soul into making her happy, whisking her away on adventures, trying to ease her troubled mind. He was ready to offer her anything, except for that so-called love, even picturing her and their child as part of his future.

And this was the thanks he got.

She stomped all over his sincerity and even rallied his assistant and the house staff to turn on him!

Everett was beside himself with rage, grabbing Selena by the collar and yanking her up.

With a bitter laugh, he said, "Selena, I really underestimated you. Derick's been with me forever. People have tried to lure him away with big bucks, and no amount of threats or sweet talk ever swayed him. So, what on earth made him betray me for you?" He paused, his eyes locked on her pretty face, jealousy bubbling over. His words turned sharp: "Or did you use your looks to lure him in, just like Callum did to you...?"

Before he could finish, Selena's face turned livid, and she cut him off, her voice raised, "Everett, do you think everyone is as sleazy as you?"

She trembled with anger, her chest heaving. "Just because you can't keep your affairs straight with other women doesn't mean everyone is like you. Maybe you're a powerhouse at work, but when it comes to love, you're a total jerk!"

"Derick couldn't stand your wishy-washy ways, wanting it all without giving anything up. He helped me because he felt sorry for me and because of his guilt about Mateo. If you had any respect for me, for Mateo, for Derick, you wouldn't spew such vile words!" Selena hadn't planned on saying so much; she didn't have anything left to say to him. She was ready to face the fallout of her actions but wouldn't let Everett drag others into his chaos.

"What about Derick and Ava? What have you done to them?" she demanded, her eyes red, ready to fight him for answers.

She wouldn't say a word about the birth control fiasco, but when it came to others, like Derick, Ava, her uncle, her brother, or even a random stranger, she cared deeply

Once, all her thoughts were centered on Everett!

How could he deal with such a drastic shift? It was impossible. She hadn't physically harmed him, yet her words felt like daggers to his heart.

But he was Everett. Would he just stand there and take it?

Selena's words cut deep, and instead of losing his temper, he went disturbingly calm. Those who knew him well knew this was when he was most dangerous.

His dark eyes were turbulent like a stormy sea, deep and chilling.

He stared at Selena, a cruel smile curling his lips, finally answering her.

"Derick let me down big time. I told

him to dig up the truth, and I'd forgive him for meddling in my personal life. But he chose to back you instead. You ask what happened to him?"

"Selena, I'm curious, how do you think I should handle him?"

"Oh, and Aya, living off my generosity, pocketing a hefty paycheck each month but stabbing

me in the back. Tell me, what do you

think should happen to her?"
