Chapter 84
Callum sighed and shook his head, realizing there was no point trying to reason with someone who was clearly tipsy. "You're drunk. Let me get you home."
As he reached out to steady her, Selena shoved him away with surprising force, her eyes blazing with disdain. "Don't touch me. Go back to the hospital and cozy up with your mistress. You're disgusting!" Callum halted, the sight of her tear-streaked face tugging at his heart.
"Everett, don't think I'm hung up on you. I'm not. The way you've behaved makes me sick. How dare you cheat on me? How could you humiliate me like this?
"If you didn't want me, you shouldn't have married me. But you did, and now you can't let go of your side piece, yet you won't divorce me. What did I ever do to deserve this treatment from you?"
Selena, fueled by alcohol, let all her pent-up frustrations and grievances spill out. Callum sat down beside her, listening quietly, letting her vent. Better out than in, as they say.
Eventually, Selena's energy waned, and she slumped, exhausted from crying and shouting. Callum gently supported her, ensuring she didn't fall.
In the car, he glanced over at Selena, now asleep in the passenger seat. Her eyes were puffy and her skin pale, yet under the moonlight, there was a fragile beauty about her. His hand reached out, almost instinctively, to touch her cheek. But just as he was about to, a tear slipped from the corner of her eye, and she murmured softly, "Everett." It was like she was trapped in a sad dream, her voice catching with emotion, "Can't you... just once, not leave me behind?" Callum's hand froze, then slowly turned into a fist.

Meanwhile, at the hospital, Everett's phone buzzed. Seeing Jaime's name, he stepped out to take the call. "Did you get her home alright?"
To his dismay, Jaime's voice came over apologetically, "Everett, I swear I just blinked, and she was gone. I have no idea where she went..."
Everett's expression turned steely, frustration seeping into his voice. "Jaime, every single time I give you a simple task, you drop the ball. What are you good for?"
Jaime muttered under his breath, "It's not my fault you can't manage your wife. How's that on me?"
Everett cut the call brusquely and dialed Selena's number, but it rang unanswered. He tried the landline at Moon Bay next, but Ava informed him that Selena hadn't returned.
Everett returned to the hospital room and found the doctor had finished examining Margot. She was fine, just a bit shaken up, and needed rest. He told Margot, "Alright, you should stay here tonight and rest. You can leave tomorrow."
He donned his coat, clearly preparing to go. Margot, sensing his imminent departure, pleaded, "Everett, I'm still really anxious. Can't you stay with me tonight?" Everett buttoned his suit with practiced ease, his voice calm and distant. "Wendy will be here soon to keep you company."

Selena? She nearly caused a scene earlier, and you..." Margot gripped the sheets, her voice a mix of furt and anger, hoping for a hint of empathy.
Everett looked at her, his dark eyes unwavering. He cut her off gently but firmly, "You know whether Selena pushed you or not, don't you?"
