Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money

Chapter 13

Chapter 13

He had wanted to agree. Cynthia did not want him to interfere in her divorce, but seeing her being bullied, he had to help her as her friend. Moreover, Mr. Yates had sent him here to let Joshua know that Cynthia had someone supporting her.

“Anything is fine with me.” Cynthia misunderstood the look in Mitchell’s eyes for the first time, thinking he was on Chyler’s side.

“Alright,” Mitchell agreed.

Chyler’s eyes became even more amused and then left after exchanging some pleasantries.

Only after the door closed did Cynthia speak to Mitchell, as rational as ever, “Just interact with them as you usually do, don’t worry about me being there.”

“Okay.” Mitchell did not bother explaining.

That worked out well. When they met with Joshua later, he would not have to be overly polite. Chyler returned with a grin, standing outside the private room door, and raised an eyebrow at Joshua. “He declined to share a table, not wanting us to disturb their meal.”

Joshua’s eyes deepened, and the hand in his pocket hesitated.

“However, they agreed to join us later.” Chyler added with a twist, his following words laden with implications, “You didn’t see how obedient Mitchell was to Cynthia. Tsk, tsk, you’d think they were a couple if you didn’t know better.”

“You should get your eyes checked. And find a teacher to brush up on your language skills while you’re at it,” Joshua retorted dismissively, then strode back to the private room.

Chyler did not understand what Joshua said, so he tapped on Yiordan’s arm. “What does he mean?”

Yiordan, surrounded by a gentle aura, replied with a faint smile, “The phrase ‘obedient‘ is inadequately used. You’ve misread their relationship, so Joshua advises you to go get your eyes checked.”

Chyler gritted his teeth in defeat.

‘You win this time. Just wait and see how I’ll deal with you later,‘ he thought playfully.

Half an hour later, Chyler had Joshua and Yiordan go first while he went to pick up Cynthia and Mitchell. After picking them up, he led them to the club upstairs, which was filled with drinks and games designed specifically for guests to enjoy after their meal.

The restaurant’s owner was none other than Chyler himself.

Chyler noticed Joshua’s gaze fixated on Cynthia and never moving away. A hint of a smile graced his lips. “Let me introduce you to my friends Joshua and Yiordan. This is Mitchell, the young master from Nexuria, and his friend.”

Mitchell exchanged brief pleasantries with them.

Joshua and Cynthia stared at each other as if trying to bore holes into each other’s faces with their eyes.

“What are you doing, Joshua? You’re a married man. It’s inappropriate to stare at Mitchell’s friend like that,” Chyler said deliberately.

Joshua knew Chyler was stirring things up, but he did not intervene further. “This woman in front of you is the one who has her name on my marriage certificate. I wonder if Mitchell is aware of this.”

With that simple sentence, the atmosphere instantly froze.

If there had been any ambiguity between Cynthia and Mitchell, it should have been exposed by

now.

“I knew Cyn was married.” Mitchell sat down on the sofa, lifting his gold–rimmed glasses with a smile.

“But I didn’t expect her to be married to Mr. Neal.”

Cynthia glanced over, almost getting goosebumps from him calling her by her nickname. ” What are you doing?” she whispered out of the corner of her mouth.

Mitchell said, “I’m backing you up.”

Cynthia did not know what to reply.

Similarly sensitive to that name was Joshua.

Her parents called her Cynthia. Her grandfather called her Cynthia, but Mitchell… He called her by such an affectionate nickname!

He had never called her that before.

Chyler suddenly said, standing up and offering his seat, “So you are my sister–in–law. I apologize for not recognizing you earlier. Please, sit here; this is your seat.”

“No need.”

“No need.”

Joshua and Cynthia said in unison.

One with a cold, distant demeanor and the other calm and emotionless.

“What’s going on with you two?” Chyler was here for the drama. “Did you two fight?”

Joshua shot him a look.

Chyler pretended not to see it.

Cynthia did not want to say another word to Joshua. “Excuse me, I need to go to the restroom.

“Alright,” Mitchell te erly agreed.

This scene stung Jr an outsider.

Chyler took on the role of the conversation starter. “How did you and Cynthia meet, Mitchell?”

Mitchell hesitated for a moment.

He wanted to say they were childhood friends, and their families were old acquaintances.

However, he also recalled Cynthia’s request not to reveal her identity.

For a moment, he did not know how to answer the question.

His reaction was interpreted by Joshua as something inappropriate. They were hiding something, Joshua thought.

The atmosphere in the club became somewhat somber.

Chyler tried to liven things up, calling for drinks and starting to pour the drinks for them. ” You don’t need to say it if you feel uncomfortable about it. Let’s drink to our encounter.”

They chatted for a while longer before Cynthia returned.

She became the focus of the room, and everyone’s gaze fell on her.

She did not want to stay any longer. After discussing matters with Mitchell, she said her goodbyes. “I’ll take my leave. Please continue without me.

Chyler called after her. “Don’t rush off. You can go back with Joshua later.”

“No, thanks.”

“Could you stay a little longer?” Mitchell also spoke up.

Cynthia did not say anything but eventually walked over.

The atmosphere in the room immediately became gloomy. Joshua’s hand gripping his cup tightened, his knuckles turning white, and it was as if a heavy stone weighed him down on his chest.

“I heard from Cynthia that you two are getting a divorce.” Mitchell deliberately broached the subject, his inscrutable eyes looking at Joshua. “Is it true?”

“What, are you planning to take her over?” Joshua blurted out with some resentment.

The moment he said it, he regretted it.

Everyone froze.

Even Chyler had not expected him to say something so provocative.

If he were really willing to divorce, would he need to be so angry? Copyright Nôv/el/Dra/ma.Org.

Cynthia did not want to deal with him, but his words were too much. “Please think thoroughly before you speak, Joshua.”

Joshua’s hand on the side hesitated, but once his temper flared, he could not hold back. “If you don’t want me to say such things, you should be aware of your own actions.”

“What a psychopath.” Cynthia could not be bothered to argue with him.

She picked up a glass of wine from the table and drank it all. She was frustrated.

As she went to pour a second drink, Joshua’s brow furrowed almost imperceptibly. Just as he was about to stop her, another hand reached out and stopped Cynthia. It was Mitchell.

His eyes were full of concern for her as he advised, “Don’t drink anymore; it’s bad for your health.”

Cynthia obediently placed the glass on the table, but her emotions were in turmoil. She had never expected to hear such harsh words from Joshua.
