Mr. Neal, Mrs. Neal’s Gone With The Money

Chapter 34

Chapter 34

Yoel’s phone rang. When he noticed it was Jayleen, he turned around and said, “Mr. Neal, it’s

Ms. Shaw.”

“That’s none of my concern,” Joshua snapped at him. He was in a foul mood. “Don’t you know I can’t contact her now?”

Yoel remained silent and continued driving, planning to reply to the message when they returned.

Meanwhile, Cynthia returned to the hospital after leaving Joshua.

Mr. Yates was still waiting for her in the ward.

Despite having a distant relationship with Cynthia, he was still her father, and he wanted to care for her and did not want to see her being bullied.

After waiting for half an hour, Shirley got impatient and discussed with Mr. Yates, “After Cynthia comes back, we must find out why she and Joshua are divorcing and not let Cynthia suffer in vain.”

“Okay,” Mr. Yates agreed.

Just as they were about to say more, the door opened, and Cynthia walked in, still with the

same calm expression as before. It was as if her anger toward Joshua earlier was all just a show.

“Cynthia.”

“Cyn.”

The two of them spoke together.

Cynthia was confused by their complex expressions. Then, she closed the door and asked, What’s the matter?”

Knowing that her father was not good at asking, Shirley took the initiative to speak up. “Why are you getting a divorce? Don’t try to fool me with the excuse of incompatibility!”

Cynthia hesitated. She had wanted to hide the truth, but seeing the expressions on their faces, she decided to tell them. “His ex–lover came back.”

“What?” Shirley and Mr. Yates were shocked.

Cynthia placed her phone aside to charge and sat in front of Mr. Yates.

“Isn’t this also incompatible? He asked for a divorce, and I agreed.”

“Are you joking?” Shirley was baffled.

Cynthia raised an eyebrow. “No.”

“Did he hurt his head as a kid? Is his sight okay? He gave up on an excellent person like you and chose his ex–lover?” Shirley was in disbelief.

Cynthia did not respond.

Whether it was an ex–lover or the one that got away, both used to be important people to the parties involved.

“This is ridiculous!” Mr. Yates became angry.

Cynthia looked at him.

Mr. Yates immediately lost his temper and could only ask, “How did you even fall for him in the first place?”

“He’s good–looking,” Cynthia replied simply.

As it turned out, good looks alone could not sustain a relationship.

Mr. Yates was speechless.

Shirley silently sighed. She knew Cynthia was someone who valued appearance, voice, figure, and even hands.

Mr. Yates asked all the important concerns, “So, how far along are you in the divorce process?”

“We’ve filed the application, and we’ll get the divorce certificate as soon as the cooling–off period is over,” Cynthia revealed.

“You should definitely get the divorce certificate!” Shirley had no sympathy for jerks.

“Such a jerk doesn’t deserve to be with you. He’s trash, a jerk, and a disgrace!

Shirley was furious. How could someone be so annoying? How could Joshua treat Cynthia he this!

“By the way, are you going to make him leave with nothing after the divorce? Leaving you for another woman is also a form of infidelity” shirley, a young woman in her prime, had always been intolerant of such things.

“Shirley is right,” Mr. Yates agreed

“No, we split our assets,” Cynthia replied, observing their emotions

“How are you splitting them?” Mr. Yates and Shirley both asked, seeming particularly curious about this issue.

Cynthia explained that they had agreed on the same terms they had discussed: one of his expensive supercars, a villa in the suburbs, and 40% of his post–marriage income for her. NôvelDrama.Org owns all © content.

She had thought they would praise her for doing well, but…

“Are you still in love with him?” Shirley frowned with concern. “He sent you away with so little money?”

“The Neal Group’s annual net profit is worth tens of billions of dollars, so giving you so little might not be enough,” Mr. Yates added.

Cynthia rubbed her temples, not knowing how to respond to them. Tens of billions might be a small amount for the Yates Group, but it was a lot compared to her annual net income.

“He took most of the money and invested it, and I said that investment money shouldn’t be split. Besides, I didn’t give him any of mine,” Cynthia explained.

Shirley was dumbfounded by the answer, and she reached out to feel Cynthia’s forehead.

Cynthia was completely dazed.

“Cynthia, you need to understand that he cheated on you! He’s the one in the wrong! You’re right not to give him anything. Knowing him, if you gave him money, he’d use it to support his lover.” Shirley grew increasingly angry, and her head started to ache.

“No way! I can’t let you take this loss,” Shirley exclaimed.

“I’m calling Mitchell. He needs to give Joshua a good beating!”

Cynthia stopped her just in time.

“What’s wrong?” Shirley asked, confused.

“This is enough. The divorce papers have been filed. If I want to make his life difficult, I have plenty of ways to do so. There’s no need to argue about this anymore,” Cynthia calmly replied.

Cynthia paused for a moment before adding, “Besides, if we really split the assets evenly, and news of our marriage gets out, the media might spin it as the Yates Group being so desperate for funds that they have to resort to fraudulent marriages to stay afloat.”

Upon hearing this, Shirley and Mr. Yates were both stunned.

Only a few of their friends knew that Joshua was divorcing Cynthia for Jayleen.

If the media reported on it, she could not say that Joshua cheated on her.

After all, Joshua did not sleep with Jayleen, and they never spent the night together. Furthermore, Cynthia could not even find evidence of his cheating.

Even if pictures of Joshua taking care of Jayleen were found, he could just say that they were friends. As long as there was no concrete evidence, public opinion would side with them.

However, the current amount of assets was a different story.

Billions might be an astronomical sum for other companies, but it was just a drop in the bucket for the Yates Group.

“I’m sorry, Cynthia… I didn’t think it through.” Shirley realized she had been impulsive.

“There’s no need to apologize. I know you care about me.” Cynthia smiled and squeezed her hand.

“I’ve let go of Joshua, but what about you…”
