Mr. President’s 71
Chapter 71
Earlier that night, the middle–aged couple were startled by a knock on their door around midnight.
It was Linda and Lily’s father, Stephen Ross, who went to answer the door, annoyed that his sleep was disrupted.
Upon seeing their eldest daughter, he furrowed his brow, still groggy from sleep. “Lily, why aren’t you sleeping?” he asked, sounding annoyed. Everyone was eager to rest before the big day, and the unexpected visit was unwelcome.
However, Lily was determined to carry out her plan.
“Dad, Linda is unconscious, and she won’t wake up for another twenty–four hours. Even then, she won’t remember anything,” Lily feigning concern, but her father sensed something was amiss.
This news was troubling, and he was not prepared for it.
revealed,
“What are you talking about?” he asked, now fully awake and alarmed by the information. “Today is her wedding day. Do you want to cause trouble with the Legends?”
Oliver was considered a Legend due to his sister, making it easier to refer to him in that manner.
Despite her father’s concerns, Lily remained resolute in her intentions.
“Dad, I didn’t do anything. I just found out that she and her best friend were drugged,” she lied, but her parents saw through her deception.
“Lily, please tell us the truth,” her mother, who had joined the conversation, urged. Her beauty sleep was equally destroyed.
Though she continued to lie, Lily couldn’t shake the sadness in her heart knowing her parents didn’t believe her.
Was she truly the prodigal daughter while Lily was the favored one?
“You don’t believe me?”
She was taken aback by her mother’s revelation and accusation.
“I overheard your call with Randy before I went to bed. You told him to inject somebody with a drug to make them forget something.”
Susan regretted not taking action then, unaware that her elder daughter was plotting against the younger.
Lily eventually gave up the lies and came clean. “Fine. I was supposed to go on a blind date with Oliver, so I took back what was rightfully mine.”
There was no remorse in her eyes, and her parents were gripped with fear. If things spiraled out of control, not only Lily but also their reputation would suffer.
“You don’t know who you’re dealing with. You will regret this,” Stephen warned sternly, but Lily remained resolute, showing no signs of remorse. “No, I won’t. Oliver was supposed to be mine, and he doesn’t even know I exist because your selfish daughter never told him.” Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
The couple disagreed, and her mother retorted, “You are the selfish one.”
“Whatever. Linda won’t be at the wedding, so what will you do about it? If you tell Oliver the truth, you’ll be in trouble too,” she threatened, leaving her father deeply disappointed by what his elder daughter had done to the younger.
His wife countered, “I won’t be in trouble. The wedding can be postponed for your sister to receive treatment. Oliver loves her and wouldn’t mind.” Lily was upset that her parents wouldn’t take her side and decided to take a drastic step.
“Do you really want to do this? Okay. If you don’t let me marry Oliver, you’ll never see Linda again.”
She was relieved to have already sent Linda’s unconscious body away; otherwise, her parents might not have sided with her and saved the life of their favored daughter.
-Under immense pressure, the parents gave in to Lily’s demands to ensure Linda’s safety.
After everything that transpired, they never expected Oliver to notice the difference and confront them.
They were unprepared for this confrontation but also fearful, as Lily had threatened that Linda would be harmed if they told Oliver anything.

Chapter 71
“Oliver, what’s wrong? Aren’t you supposed to be on your honeymoon?” Linda’s father, Stephen, inquired, while Oliver’s voice was firm.
“That woman I married isn’t Linda, so where is she?” he demanded, causing both parents to pale instantly.
Though relieved that Oliver had discovered the truth, they had no idea where Linda was being held and had to comply with Lily’s demands.
“What are you talking about? That is her,” Susan argued, trying to maintain her composure despite her inner turmoil.
If only she knew where her daughter was, she would have gone to rescue her herself.
Unfortunately, Oliver was not easily deceived and was determined to find answers before leaving.
“You’re all lying to me. I will find Linda, and if anything is wrong with her, you’ll regret it. That woman may look like Linda, but she isn’t her.”
He stormed out of the house for some fresh air, tears clouding his vision.
Nathan had hired investigators, but there were no leads on finding Linda, so Oliver took matters into his own hands.
His heart would not rest until he found the woman who had captured his heart and brought joy into his life.
He recalled Linda’s best friend and called her. She was also the maid of honor, and though she showed no signs of suspicion, Oliver felt she might have information that could help.
Fortunately, he had Gwen’s number from when he needed her help to surprise Linda.
He wasn’t going to give any information to the imposter in his house. That woman would have to face the consequences of her actions.
“Gwen, can we meet?” he asked, his tone heavy with sorrow. Gwen, equally distraught, agreed without hesitation.
Initially surprised by her immediate agreement, Oliver met Gwen at the designated location and asked her, “What’s wrong?”
Gwen was disappointed to see Oliver alone. She had hoped Linda would be with him when he called, seeking comfort from her friend.
“My brother caught my boyfriend cheating on me and beat him up, resulting in his arrest. My boyfriend’s affluent parents are making it difficult for my family to get him released.”
Oliver was saddened by her situation but relieved that Gwen’s brother was safe.
Determined to find his bride, he thought of a proposal that might favor both of them.
Gwen noticed that he was still in his wedding attire, prompting her to inquire if something had gone wrong.
Before she could ask, Oliver spoke up, “I can help get him released if you assist me.”
