"This reunion is being organized by the class president, Marco Geurrero, so everyone's coming."

"A reunion..." Shawna was not really interested in it.

"Hey, it's at Majestic Hotel. We're in the VIP ballroom. Marco's paying for everything!" Devina said cheerfully.

"Majestic Hotel? What a lavish place..." Shawna was surprised.

Majestic Hotel was one of the fanciest hotels in Grayvale. Most people did not have gatherings there because they could not afford it.

Yet, Marco was footing the bill. How generous he was!

"It's not like you don't know how rich Marco is. Let's just enjoy it," Devina said. “Oh, if only I could marry into such a rich family. It's a shame that he's not interested in me...

"Hey, didn't he try to woo you back in the day? But you rejected him without even thinking about it. I really don't know what you were thinking..."

Shawna did not respond.

"Oh, right. Are you waiting for someone? Who?" Devina looked around.

"I have a flat tire. He's gone to the bathroom."

"Forget about him." Devina pulled Shawna's hand. "Come on, let's go to the reunion. You'll be the belle of the ball."

"Let it go, Devina." Shawna did not want to go. "Dustin's not back yet. I have to wait for him."

"That's not important. Who's Dustin? I've never heard of him. Forget about him. Just make him wait for you."

As she spoke, Devina dragged Shawna over to the hotel.

Right at that moment, Dustin came back.

"Who are you? Where are you dragging Shawna away?" Dustin asked in displeasure.

"You're just a security guard. Do you

think you have the right to question me? I'm taking Shawna somewhere fancy. It's not somewhere you can go, Devina said disdainfully.

Devina felt only distaste for Dustin when she saw him in a security guard's uniform.

"I can't let you take Shawna away." Dustin was annoyed.

"Who cares what you think? Who do you think you are?" Devina pursed her lips. "Ignore him, Shawna. Let's go."noveldrama

Dustin's face darkened. He followed them.

"Let him come with us." Shawna could not win against Devina in an argument, so she decided to bring Dustin along. "What a drag." Devina rolled her eyes. "Alright then! Some of our classmates brought their families, too."

On the way to the hotel, Shawna quickly introduced Dustin and Devina to each other.

She did not say much about Dustin and only described him as her friend.

"I work as a security guard for Miss Welch," Dustin said with a smile.

Devina looked scornful.

She was a gold digger. She looked down on security guards, who were on the lowest rung on the social ladder. She saw them as lower than dirt.

The hotel was not too far away, so the three arrived quickly.

A car drove past them and stopped at the entrance to the hotel.

"Wow, that luxury car costs more than 900 thousand dollars... It's so pretty. Devina's eyes sparkled as she said. "I wonder when I'll be able toride in a car like that..."

"The only thing that car has going for it is its design. Its specs can't compare to others in its price bracket,” Dustin said.

"All it has going is its design?"

Devina looked at Dustin with thinned lips. She felt nothing but distaste for him. "You might never afford that car even if you work hard until your death. Do you have the right to judge it? You don't have any ability, but you sure have some nerve to talk."

Dustin chuckled but said nothing.
