Chapter 10
Chapter 10
Chapter ten Arianna walked into Stark enterprises and as usual, the receptionist was seated in her position. The foreigner stood up the moment she saw her. “Good morning,” Arianna said and forced a smile. “Morning ma`am, I am sorry but I can’t let you in this time,” She replied immediately. Arianna chuckled inwards, she had no doubt that her father`s baby must have been mad with the receptionist. She could see the fear in the woman’s eyes. “It’s alright, I understand. I am also sorry that I couldn’t say thank you before leaving that day, and I am sorry for any problems I might have caused you, please forgive.” She pleaded. “It’s no problem ma`am, you are welcome, but why are you here today?” the receptionist queried, while looking up to make sure that her boss was inside his office. “Oh, I had come to give your boss this, please pass this notice to him and keep it confidential,” She instructed. The receptionist looked at her with scrutinizing eyes; she wondered what could be in the letter. She stretched her hand and accepted it. “Alright, I would do that, but may I know the content of these letters?” she queried. “It’s a notice from her lawyer,” A hoarse voice uttered from behind Aria and the receptionist looked behind. There was a man dressed in white shirt and black suit, which was a general lawyer attire in the country and many other places. He walked in through the door and his powerful cologne filled the air as he got closer. He turned to Arianna. “Sorry I am late, the traffic was too much.” Then to the receptionist, “Like my client here has said, the letter in your hand is an official notice from the court, please hand it over to Mr. Stark Oliver Gomez immediately, he would know what to do next,” the lawyer instructed. The receptionist nodded and picked the standby telephone, she made a call to an unknown person and a few minutes later, Sammy came down dressed in a black suit and pants. His shoe was well polished like that of the lawyer.
“Sir, please tell the CEO that this letter is for him from the pregnant lady that had come to see him yesterday,” Lucy said and handed the letter to Sammy. He nodded and took the notice from her, then turned around and walked off. Arianna and her lawyer took their leave immediately, and the receptionist sighed. With the look in Aria’s eyes, she could tell that her boss had messed with the wrong lady. She just prayed that the outcome does not affect her job in any way. Oliver was in his office sipping coffee when Sammy walked in. He noticed the letter in his hand and he wondered if his ‘old school’ grandfather had sent him another letter, or if one of his workers had dropped their resignation letter. “What`s wrong Sammy, you should be in your office right now calculating the budget given by the marketing department,” Oliver asked. “I know boss, that’s what I was doing before the receptionist called me down to get a message for you.” “What message is that?” he queried out of curiosity. “It’s a court notice from the pregnant lady who had come to see you yesterday,” Sammy announced. Oliver went bug-eyed the moment he heard that, he wondered what the young lady was up to now. If she had filed a case against him, then she must be silly to do that. “Let me have it,” he ordered and stretched forth his hand. Sammy handed the letter to him and he opened it quickly to read, he was shocked when he saw it and he wondered where she had gotten the audacity to do that. The notice read… “23rd Aug 2014. Dear Mr. Stark Oliver Gomez I am writing this demand letter on behalf of my client “Miss Arianna McQueen” who has reportedly accused you of being responsible for her pregnancy and abandoning her which is a crime of female abuse in the law. My client has also reported that you had abused her verbally which is against the law. Your wrong and unacceptable behavior towards my client has caused her unspeakable distress. You have also caused my client`s estimation to be lowered in the estimation of her friends, colleagues and
loved ones, and further caused her physical and emotional pain. On behalf of my client, “Miss Arianna McQueen” we demand that you pay a sum of fifty thousand dollars as compensation and accept your responsibilities as the father of her unborn child. In addition to that, you have to say an unreserved apology to her. Failure to comply with this letter within forty-eight hours of receipt, we may pursue further legal actions, and this letter would be tendered in court as evidence of your failure to pay on time. Best regards, Randy Damon 92 Rembrandt Drive Las Vegas, GA 476237” Oliver burst into laughter after reading the letter, he turned to Sammy who had no idea what was going on. “Sammy, make a call to my lawyer immediately, tell him to report to my office as soon as possible, his urgent attention is needed.” Sammy nodded and walked out of his office. Oliver read the letter over and over again; he was still surprised that a girl from the streets had the courage to write such a demand letter to him. He had been in similar situations before, but the ladies never brought a lawyer, mostly because they knew that the baby did not belong to him. Oliver was a smart man and he was not ready to be a father yet, so he always took precautions when getting intimate with those random girls. He wondered what had given Arianna the courage to do this. She was wrongly accusing him and yet she went to a lawyer first. It was normal for the rich to use the law even when they are wrong but now even the low lives think they can play with the law like the rich do. Oliver was more than prepared to use this against her in the legal way, but he was scared that taking this matter to court would ruin his reputation, so he hoped that his lawyer would come up with a way to win this legally without having to go to court.NôvelDrama.Org: text © owner.
