Chapter 67 Car Accident
“There’s a car accident! Hurry! Call the police.”
“Call the ambulance!”
“There’s a driver in this car. Who can help her open it?”
The passersby stopped. Several righteous men started calling the emergency call. Someone rushed up to rescue the drivers.
Soon, Eva was pulled out of the crashed car by them. The ambulance arrived at the scene.
“Who is her family? You need to go with her to the hospital.” The doctor in the lead dealt with Eva’s wounds and lifted her into the ambulance. However, when he looked around to find someone who knew Eva, all the onlookers shook their heads.
“None of you was her passenger in the car?”
“Doc, this is her phone. It kept ringing for a long time since just now. We don’t know her.” One passerby stood out with a bloodstained phone.
Eva’s phone was still ringing.
The doctor took it over and swiped to answer.
Caleb asked anxiously, which was pretty rare, “Where are you, Eva?”
“Sir, are you the friend of the phone owner?”
“Yes, I am. May I know who that is?” Caleb frowned.
“Here is the thing, Sir. This lady had a car accident just now. I’m a doctor in the ambulance. Can you please come to Harmony Groove Hospital as soon as possible?” the doctor said.
“I’ll be right there.” Caleb hung up the call without hesitation, asked Luke for the car key, and left.
Luke and other vice presidents exchanged glances, wondering what had happened to Caleb. They had never seen him so anxious before.
“Where are you going, Mr. Livingstone? Will we still hold the meeting? What if a director wants to contact you?” Luke returned to his senses and yelled at Caleb’s receding back.
However, he only received silence.
Earlier, after Caleb stood motionlessly to overcome the pang in his heart, he was about to continue the inspection. However, William requested to have a video call with him. He told Caleb that Eva hadn’t arrived home as agreed, so Caleb was confused. He asked others to wait for a moment and dialed Eva’s number.
However, she didn’t answer her phone for a long time. Caleb kept calling her until the call was connected.
This call had almost taken his breath away. He immediately left the site.
Caleb drove so fast and arrived at the hospital almost at the same time as the ambulance with Eva in it.
“Eva!” Caleb yelled when seeing Eva’s head full of blood on the bed.
The calmness and restraint that he had been proud of disappeared, his eyes bloodshot. He couldn’t help thinking about Eva’s look.
Caleb ran after the hospital trolley to the door of the emergency room. In a trance, he heard a nurse stop him.
“I’m sorry, Sir. You are not allowed to enter the emergency room.”
“Okay.” Caleb was in a daze. He didn’t break into the emergency room but sat down on the bench at the door.
The only time he had lost his calmness was when William had been kidnapped and almost dying.
Eva’s wound looked horrible, but she wasn’t seriously injured. Hence, after half an hour, the light above the emergency room dimmed.
“Please don’t worry, Sir. The patient is fine. She has lost much blood. She’ll be fine after the observation in the hospital for a few days,” a doctor came out of the emergency room and said to Caleb while taking off his mask.
Upon hearing that Eva was fine, Caleb breathed a sigh of relief. Instantly, he returned to the elegance and superior CEO as if the panicked man wasn’t him just now.
Caleb sat in the VIP ward and gazed at Eva’s sleeping face without a blink, feeling peaceful and calm.
“Hello, Luke. Please gather my files and send them to the VIP ward on the nineteenth floor of Harmony Groove Hospital.” Caleb dialed Luke’s phone number. Finally, he recalled that he had many things to deal with.
“By the way, please also bring William over,” he added.
“Okay, Mr. Livingstone,” Luke answered. He was confused. It turned out William didn’t get sick. He wondered who had been ill so that Caleb panicked so much.
Caleb hung up the call with Luke and sent William a request for the video call.
“Liam, Eva is in the hospital. Luke will go to pick you up. Please come to the hospital with him. Understand?” Caleb said.
William nodded obediently. He had met Luke before. That man wore a pair of antique glasses and spoke pretty slowly, but he was talkative.
After arranging everything, Caleb turned to check on Eva, only to find that she was sleeping soundly.
Caleb parted his lips and uttered two words, “You troublemaker.”
However, his eyes were full of tenderness.
Luke arrived pretty soon. William behaved himself. Seeing Eva lying on the bed “lifelessly”, he couldn’t help shedding tears.
“She’s too tired, so she’s sleeping now, Liam.” Caleb glanced at his son and saw his tearful eyes, so he knew what was in the little boy’s mind.
William looked up at him instantly, wishing to get his confirmation.
Caleb nodded gently.
Luke heaved a sigh. It turned out Eva was in the hospital. It made sense, though. He had never seen any woman move into Rosenfeld Hill. He could tell how much Caleb cared about Eva.
To avoid being the third wheel, Luke sensibly left after giving the files to Caleb.
The ward quieted down. Occasionally, the sound that Caleb was turning the pages was heard. William dropped her head on the bed edge to gaze at Eva in silence.
Two hours passed quickly. Caleb finished dealing with the files delivered by Luke. He walked to the bed and was about to carry William to another room for a rest. Eva’s eyelashes trembled. Then she opened her eyes.
“Are you awake?” said Caleb, looking down at her.
He looked aloof, as if Eva was someone unimportant. Actually, if she were someone insignificant, he wouldn’t spare a glance at her.
“Where am I?” Eva looked at him with a baffled expression, wondering where she was. She raised her hand to touch her forehead while speaking.
Caleb acted quickly and pressed her hand, pressing the bell with the other hand to call over the doctor.
“Why are you here, Mr. Livingstone? Liam? Why are you both here? Is today still the eighteenth?” Eva asked several questions in a row.
Caleb parted his lips. Before he answered, the doctor and nurses entered the ward.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“What’s the number, Ms. Sommers?” The doctor shook two fingers at Eva.
“Two,” answered Eva, feeling all of them were weird.
